With the Wii MotionPlus accessory in our Wii Remotes come new controls. While some controls have remained the same, others have drastically changed, which can sometimes be good depending upon the state of things. In this case, however, change is very good! Below is a list of all the controls and some of the items for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Enjoy!
Sword Moves
The Vertical Slice
Swing the Wii Remote downward or upward to perform this attack. This will work very well when defeating those pesky Deku Babas with their heads sideways.
The Horizontal Slice
Swing the Wii Remote either to the left or to the right. This move is ideal for Deku Babas with their heads in the upright position.
The Diagonal Slice
Swing the Wii Remote diagonally from either upper right to lower left or upper left to lower right.
Thrusting
To thrust your sword, simply thrust the Wii Remote forward as if you were actually stabbing an enemy.
The Spin Attack
Remember how in Twilight Princess all you had to do was shake the Nunchuck? Well, in this game, it requires a little more movement: Swing the Wii Remote and Nunchuck together in a horizontal motion from either right to left or left to right, whichever one is more comfortable for you.
The Vertical Spin Slice
This one is a little more complicated than those listed above, but still fairly simple. Swing the Wii Remote and Nunchuck together in a vertical motion either downward or upward. It’s just like the Spin Attack, but literally vertical!
Shield Moves
There is only one shield move, so here’s how it’s done: Shake the Nunchuck to raise up your shield and perform a shield bash. Plus, if your timing is good, you can either stun your enemy or, if your aim is true, you can deflect its attack back to it.
The Item Screen
The Skyward Sword item screen is similar to that of Twilight Princess’s item screen. Press and hold the B trigger to access the item screen, point the Wii Remote at the item you wish to use and release B.
The Slingshot
The Slingshot is back for yet another game in the Zelda Series! Point the Wii Remote to aim at your desired target and press the A button to fire. It doesn’t get simpler than that!
Bombs
If there is one essential item in every Zelda game, it should be bombs, and lots of them at that! To throw a bomb, hold the Wii Remote in an upright position and make a swinging motion (shooting a basketball). You can also roll bombs. Know how to bowl? Well, this is just like bowling and comes in very handy for those small holes. Simply equip the bombs with B and roll a bomb to your desired target.
The Beetle
This is a brand new item to the Zelda series! With the Beetle equipped, press the A button to release, and tilt the Wii Remote to control its movements. With the Beetle, you can catch items and bring them back to you. Press A to drop the item while pressing the Z button to look down. This comes in very handy for those places that can’t be accessed by foot.
The Whip
The whip is simple to use. Flick the Wii Remote to attack your enemies. You can also use the whip to pull in short-range items like a grappling hook.
The Bow & Arrow
If you’ve played Archery on Wii Sports Resort, this technique will be simple for you. Hold the Wii Remote and Nunchuck as if you were actually holding a bow and arrow. Press the C button to ready the bow, pull back on the Nunchuck to draw, aim at your target, and release C to shoot an arrow.

Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland was released only in Japan and Europe, never making it to the USA due to lackluster sales. Surprisingly, the game was well-received among those who did play and review the game. You play as Tingle, a 35-year-old (and single) man lost in the world. Guided by the mysterious figure Uncle Rupee, Tingle fills a mystical spring with money and gain access to the wonderful Rupeeland, a paradise where nobody has to work. Along the way, hire body guards to protect Tingle – but from what? All may not be as it seems in Tingle’s quest for monetary gain, and Rupeeland just might not be so rosy after all...
