Fi is the guardian of the Goddess Sword and resides within it. She accompanies Link on his journey and acts as his guide.

 

Lord Ghirahim

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Lord Ghirahim is a possible primary antagonist of Skyward Sword who is an adept swordsman and authority figure in the land below Skyloft. He thinks very highly of himself, dresses and acts effeminately, and has the ability to disappear and teleport at will.

Following the Wing Ceremony, Ghirahim summons a tornado in an attempt o capture Zelda. However, his plans are ruined when a “servant of the goddess” takes her instead.

Zelda is Link’s childhood friend and the daughter of Gaepora.

She appears to be a priestess and resides over the annual Wing Ceremony. Following the ceremony, she falls to the surface when Ghirahim summons a tornado in an attempt to capture her.

 

Gaepora

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Gaepora is Zelda’s father and the headmaster of the Knight Academy in Skyloft. He gives Link his green tunic before he leaves on his journey.

Groose is Link’s rival at the Knight Academy and the leader of a group of bullies. He kidnaps Link’s Loftwing just before the Wing Ceremony in an attempt to keep Link from participating.

 

Impa

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Impa is a member of the Sheikah tribe and acts as Zelda’s companion and guardian during her quest. Initially she does not think that Link is worthy to aid Zelda.

 

Loftwing

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Loftwings are giant birds that the people of Skyloft use for transportation. Each citizen of Skyloft has his or her own Loftwing.

 

The Goddess

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Long ago, when evil threatened the surface, The Goddess took the humans and raised Skyloft into the sky; out of evil’s reach. She then returned to the surface and sealed away the evil with the help of the other land-dwelling tribes.

She is known to have possessed a sword, the Goddess Sword, and a harp. She was also the guardian of a sacred power left by the gods of old.

The Kikwi are forest-dwelling creatures who assist Link when he first arrives on the surface. Link is rewarded with a slingshot after he locates three missing Kikwis.

Skyward Sword will be the Kikwi’s first appearance in the Legend of Zelda series.

Link encounters a few Gorons traveling around the surface world, but unlike previous Zelda games they do not have a settlement of their own.

 

The Mogma

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

The Mogma live underground on the mountain and aid Link when he is trying to enter the Earth Temple.

 

The Parella

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

The Parella are squid-like creatures that live in Lake Floria. Link meets them when he returns to the forest and gains access to the lake.

 

Ancient Robots

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

The Ancient Robots live in the Lanayru Desert. They once worked the mining facilities in the desert, but over time became inoperable. Link uses special crystals to reverse the effects of time and make the Ancient Robots active again.
