Armos
Both Red and Yellow ChuChus have revealed themselves in Spirit Tracks. Red ChuChus are basic enemies that are easy to defeat. Yellow ChuChus, however, are electrified, and must be stunned before one can attack them. Or, you can attack them from a distance, such as with the Snake Whip.
Bubble
Our good old friend the Bubble is back. We can’t see in the trailer which type of the Bubble, thrown by an angry Cyclops, is, as it doesn’t have time to surround itself with the colored cloud which in Phantom Hourglass indicated its type – a red cloud for fire, which would burn you, and a blue-white cloud for ice, which would freeze you. However, Link uses the Whirlwind to blow the Bubble right back at the Cyclops, indicating that using the Bubbles Cyclops throw against them is a key mechanic in defeating them.
Bullblin
The Bullblins from Twilight Princess also make an appearance- seen in the stage demo of the game, Bullblins ride Bullbos and attack Link’s train with bomb arrows while he rides the tracks.
Bullbo
It seems that a familiar enemy may have returned – the Bullbo from Twilight Princess. These giant boars are traditionally ridden by other enemies, and occasionally Link himself, although we see no trace of this in the trailer. However, we do see them charging at Link’s train, much akin to their charging run attack in Twilight Princess. It appears you use bombs to deter them, much like you would defeat enemies at sea in the Phantom Hourglass by using the cannon.
Cave Tunneler
This enemy (tentatively called the Cave Tunneler) is a tunnel-dwelling monster which shares many common characteristics with the Gohma of previous games, including a single large, vulnerable eye. It is seen chasing Link’s train through a tunnel, though it is unknown whether you are forced to fight it or simply avoid it. It is thought that choosing the wrong train track to follow when guiding Link to his next destination leads to tunnels that can sometimes contain these monsters.
ChuChu
Cyclops
An all new enemy takes to the stage, and we totally guess its name! Handily dubbed the Cyclops because of its single eye, this tribal-seeming enemy confronts Link by throwing Bubbles at him. Link must then use the Deku Propeller to blow the Bubbles back at the Cyclops, stunning him long enough for Link to attack.
Mighty Zola Warrior (Mighty River Zora)
These red versions of the green Zola Warrior were unveiled in the E3 2009 trailer for Spirit Tracks. Although they currently have no official name, they seem to be of equal or greater difficulty than their green brethren. In addition, the Mighty Zola Warrior has the ability to shoot streams of fire from its mouth, making it an incredibly formidable foe. Having the Phantom nearby is your best bet for defeating this enemy, as the Phantom cannot be harmed by fire.
Mothula
The Mothula from The Wind Waker returns as a Mini-Boss in Spirit Tracks. It fires Bubbles at Link, and it can be disarmed by flinging the Bubbles back at it using the Whirlwind.
Miniblin
Miniblins look the same as they did in Phantom Hourglass, but they have a new talent- they sit on top of Armos, which causes them attack you. If Link can push the Miniblin off, then the Armos will deactivate.
Octorok
Another faithful friend of the series returns, still shooting rocks out of its cannon-like mouth. In the trailer, they seem exactly the same as in their Phantom Hourglass appearance, and are presumably defeated the same way – i.e., using the shield to approach, or approaching from the side, then using a jump strike. However, in the trailer, Link also uses the help of his metal-clad friend to defeat one.
Phantom
Until Zelda possesses a Phantom, they are definitely out to get you. We do not yet know exactly how they attack, but we can presume that they will patrol the halls of the Spirit Tower and attack Link when he enters their sights, like the Phantoms from Phantom Hourglass.
Pig
Straight from the Wind Waker’s Outset Island to your local Spirit Tracks, we once again meet our friends the Pigs, with interesting cow-themed colors. Like in the Wind Waker, they don’t appear to be much harm at first, happily wandering around the large field in the trainer before scattering from in front of Link’s locomotive. However, if they stay true to their Wind Waker roots, attacking them would be a bad idea – a big one will deal huge amounts of damage!
Rat
Rats are small, weak, but quick enemies very common throughout Hyrule. They come from Rat holes, which can be blocked by Link to stop them from appearing. In Spirit Tracks Zelda is terrified of rats, and will not move until Link defeats them. Link must keep all of the Rats away when Zelda is possessing a Phantom in order to keep her near.
Skulltula
Back from the Ghost Ship, Skulltulas this time appear to have moved out from the dungeons to the forest, from where they ambush Link whilst he is in his train. However, they can be easily defeated with some quick cannon fire, as Link shows in the trailer.
Gold Mole
White Wolfos
The White Wolfos has so far only been seen in a single screenshot. This single picture shows two of them attacking Link simultaneously in some sort of snowy environment.
Zola Warrior (River Zora)
These titanic River Zora return once again from Phantom Hourglass, as mean and as ugly as ever. Still armed with their shield and club, they make formidable opponents, easily able to block any frontal attack. If they hold true to Phantom Hourglass, they will also be able to spit fire balls. However, Link defeats them in a novel new way, by using his metal clad friend to attack it from the front, distracting it, then running behind and slashing it repeatedly.
