You’ve encountered the boat while playing Phantom Hourglass, and this time around, you encounter a train, in the new Zelda title, Spirit Tracks. Just to be nice and give you a heads up, the people here at Zelda Universe have gotten together and assembled this guide as to how to control the train that Link will be riding throughout the game. Very simplistic, so just follow along.

When in the train, the bottom screen will play it out, while the top screen shows the map and where Link needs to get to next – thus being displayed with a purple flag. While on your journey towards the purple flag, you’ll encounter unwanted obstacles along the tracks. To quicken your journey, you can control the speed of the train with a lever, which is displayed on the right hand side of the screen. Dragging it all the way up will make it go fast, while dragging it all the way down, you’ll cause the train to reverse.

These unwanted obstacles come in forms of animals, enemies, and rocks. You can shoo the animals away from the track by blowing the horn, which you can do by dragging the string found in the upper right corner, down. The animals will flock away, allowing you to pass; if you decide to the hit the animals, you’ll lose a heart.

Next, would be the cannon. You can use said cannon to blow away rocks and enemies on your way. You control the cannon just the same way as you did while in the boat during Phantom Hourglass – you just use your stylus to poke at the screen.

Now, with all of that being said, put on your conductor hat, and have fun controlling that train (though it may seem rather odd compared to the big scheme of things).
