Before you can start fishing, you must retrieve the fishing rod from Bannan Island, Northwest on the sea chart. You must have the boomerang first in order to attract the mermaid’s attention. Firstly, Enter the only house on the island and talk with the Old Wayfarer. listen to what he has to say and then go outside, making sure to kill all the monsters on the island. Once you have done this, look around until you spot the mermaid. Getting too close to her will result in her swimming away. If this happens, simply look elsewhere in the waters as she is still around. With your boomerang equipped, stand a fair distance away from her and throw it, aiming at her head. one you successfully hit her, she will become angry. A simple apology should fix this though. Go back into the house and talk with the Old Wayfarer again. Then go and see linebeck. He will explain that the mermaid talked with him for a while before running off. now go back to the Old Wayfarers house where you will find the mermaid sitting in his pool, listening to his tales. Speak with him again and he will give you the fishing rod.
Head back out to sea and and search for a fishy looking shadow. Once you are over the shadow, open up the menu and click on “FISH”. Link will then cast his rod into the water. Listen to Linebeck’s instructions on how to fish. Pulling back on the stylus will move your rod back and forth while making small circular patterns will reel the line in. When you get a bite, you will see the word “PULL”. Drag the stylus back to hook the fish and draw small circles to start reeling it in. However, if the tension meter on the left side of the top screen gets too low, you will loose your fish. To avoid this, simply stop reeling in when prompted, removing the stylus from the screen altogether. You’ll get the hang of it, although it can be tricky. After you catch your first Skippyjack, return to the Old Wayfarers house where he will tell you to go and catch yourself a Toona.
Repeat the above steps for catching the Toona and return back to the Old Wayfarers house to find out your next target fish, which will be the Loovar. After you catch all three of these fish, return once more to the Old Wayfarer, where he will reward you with the Big Catch Lure. Return back to the sea where you can now catch the last three fish. These fish however, are a lot harder to catch and they are a lot bigger. Catch the Rusty Swordfish and take it back to the Old Wayfarer, where he will reward you with a ship part. You next target will be the Neptoona. Take this fish back to the Old Wayfarer and you will receive a well deserved Heart Container. Finally, he will send you in search of the Stowfish which will get you another ship part.
Below, you will find a list of all the fish available. Six types in total throughout the game
Skippyjack
These are extremely common about the waters. They are pretty ugly and rather small.
Toona
Bigger than the Skippyjack and also quite common fish to find.
Loovar
Out of the first three fish to find, these are the rarest. Expect to spend quite a while trying for this one.
I believe I caught it after about twenty attempts. Persistence is the key with this one.
Rusty Swordfish
For this fish, you need the Big Catch Lure. A very impressive looking fish with a long pointy nose.
Neptoona
Possibly one of the hardest fish to find. It’s a biggie and again, requires the Big Catch Lure. This fish is massive.
Stowfish
The last fish to find and again, very rare, so expect it to take a fair few attempts. This is the biggest fish you will ever find.
Fishing quest complete. Give yourself a pat on the back and consider yourself a pro angler.

Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland was released only in Japan and Europe, never making it to the USA due to lackluster sales. Surprisingly, the game was well-received among those who did play and review the game. You play as Tingle, a 35-year-old (and single) man lost in the world. Guided by the mysterious figure Uncle Rupee, Tingle fills a mystical spring with money and gain access to the wonderful Rupeeland, a paradise where nobody has to work. Along the way, hire body guards to protect Tingle – but from what? All may not be as it seems in Tingle’s quest for monetary gain, and Rupeeland just might not be so rosy after all...
