Link

The hero of Hyrule, this courageous young lad is one day summoned by the divine Triforce that rests at Hyrule Castle to aid the land of Labrynna in its time of need. The adventurer arrives to aid Nayru, Oracle of Ages, but Link is tricked by the dark sorceress Veran who possesses Nayru and vanishes 400 years into the past. Enlisting the aid of the Maku Tree and many others, Link sets out to win back the eight Essences of Time and open the way through the Black Tower to restore order to the world. Before doing so, it was necessary for Link to travel back and forth through time and help townsfolk both ancient and contemporary before he could challenge the might of Veran. Before it all ended, Link found himself confronting Veran, Twinrova, and even Ganon, with Princess Zelda and the fate of all the world on his shoulders. He is called the Hero of the Essences.

Princess Zelda

Zelda is the princess of Hyrule, a wise ruler with a sensitivity to evil climates. Yet she is also a bit reckless, as she frequently leaves the care of her attendant Impa to take matters into her own hands, putting herself in harm’s way. Upon learning of the troubles in Labrynna, she sets out there but is apprehended by Vire. After Link came in and rescued her from his clutches, Zelda was free for a while but again went out from Impa into Lynna City in order to counsel the people of Labrynna out of despair. It was then, however, that Twinrova captured her in an attempt to sacrifice her in a rite that bring Ganon back from the dead. Fortunately, Link infiltrated Twinrova’s hidden fortress and defeated both the sorceress sisters and the king of evil, thereby reviving Zelda.

Impa

Impa is Zelda’s loyal nurse, attendant, and guardian. Unfortunately, when Link first came to Labrynna, Impa was already possessed by the sorceress Veran. But Link, unaware of this, led her straight to Nayru, at which point Veran vacated Impa and possessed the Oracle of Ages. Impa recovered and thereafter sought to aid Link from Nayru’s house by giving him pointers on his quest whenever he stopped by. A bit overprotective, she always chides Zelda when the princess wanders off without permission. Yet considering the latter’s capture first by the Great Moblin and later by Twinrova, Impa’s fears are often justified.

Nayru

Nayru is the Oracle of Ages, and day after day the animals of the woods would continually gather to hear her play the harp and sing. It was said that there was mystical power in Nayru’s notes, and was a refreshment to all who heard her. She controlled the flow of time in Labrynna and watched over the land for all the generations, both in the deep past and currently. One time, her guardianship was jeopardized after the vile sorceress infiltrated her land and possessed the oracle, using her wreak havoc in Labrynna’s past, thereby harming the future as well. From her home, Link took up the Harp of Ages and learned the secret of time travel, going back and forth between the two ages to help Nayru. At last, after a showdown at Ambi’s Palace, Link freed Nayru of Veran’s grasp, after which she returned home and aided the hero from there. After Link vanquished Veran for good, Nayru then warned of similar perils in the land of Holodrum. After another quest, the oracles Din and Nayru combined their powers to aid Link before the final confrontation with Twinrova and ultimately Ganon himself.

Farore

Farore is the Oracle of Secrets. True to her identity, she is nowhere near as well-known in the world as her counterparts Din and Nayru. She inhabits no particular realm but likewise puts herself in no danger. Yet her role proves to be indispensable in Link’s quest nevertheless as she is able to summon forth secrets inside the Maku Tree whenever Link hears of secret passwords from the townsfolk throughout Holodrum and Labrynna. It is said that perhaps the greatest secret that Farore forged from within the Maku Tree is none other than the legendary Master Sword.

Maku Tree

Twin seeds taken from Hyrule and planted elsewhere, one in Holodrum and the other in Labrynna, this tree rests in the northeast of Lynna City and is 400 years old. The sacred tree’s very life is put in danger, however, when Veran started tampering with Labrynna’s past. When the tree was nothing more than a Maku Sprout, Veran sent a troop of Moblin soldiers to attack her, but Link ventured into the past to ward them off and save the Maku Sprout (at which time the sprout even tried to propose to him). When Link steps forward to search for the eight Essences of Time, the Maku Tree is able to guide him. After he returns the Essences to the Maku Tree, she makes for Link the mystical Maku Seed, granting him entry into the Black Tower Turret to confront the Sorceress of Darkness. Later, it is the Maku Tree who first opens the way to the Room of Rites so Link can challenge Twinrova and rescue Princess Zelda, then afterward rescuing the two of them from danger once the compound starts collapsing in on itself.

Ralph

Ralph is the erstwhile, overeager friend and would-be protector of Nayru, as he has cared for her since her childhood. For the most part, he spurns Link’s help, believing his own zeal to be sufficient to liberate his beloved Nayru from Veran’s grasp. So while he chases the possessed oracle into the past and runs to and fro in a panic, Link sets about doing the work of gathering the Essences of Time and restoring peace to the land, and it is Link who succeeds in breaking Nayru free of Veran’s dark grip. After Veran then possesses Queen Ambi, Ralph believes that the sorceress must die–even if he must kill the ancient queen in the process. The problem is that, as it turns out, Ambi is Ralph’s ancestor! Nevertheless, Ralph is even willing to snuff out his own existence to stop Veran. Thankfully, it is Link instead who confronts Veran again, liberates Ambi, and brings the dark sorceress’ reign to an end. After Veran’s destruction, Ralph finally comes to respect Link and even agrees to train under him so that he might learn to better protect Nayru.

Moosh

Moosh is a blue, winged bear who gets lost rather easily. The first time, he’s stuck in Yoll Graveyard where he’s attacked by Ghini ghosts, but Link comes to ward them off. Later, the same bear gets lost in the Fairies’ Woods, and Link has to find him and bring him out. After both of these instances, Moosh agrees to help Link in return. The big bear used his massive body to fight enemies, either by crushing them from the air or even just sending out shockwaves when he hit the ground, damaging any within a small radius. Moosh’s prime gift was in his wings, however, which he used to hover over considerable distances, soaring much farther than Link could with Roc’s Feather.

Ricky

Ricky is a kangaroo who inhabits the forest space of North Horon near Spool Swamp. A renowned boxer, he nevertheless lost his boxing gloves in the sea. After Link finds them again on the beach, Ricky agrees to be his companion on his quest and invites Link to ride along in his pouch. Ricky easily clears holes in the ground that Link is unable without Roc’s Feather, as well as scaling cliffs, and he packs a powerful punch against any foes who get in his way. In fact, his punches are so strong that if he charges up his attack, he’ll send out a devastating shockwave that will hurt any enemies in his path. Utilizing Ricky’s jumping ability, he was able to find Tingle and get the Island Chart. Unfortunately, Ricky is not terribly fond of Tingle…

Dimitri

Dimitri is a large red triceratops who appears to be an intimidating monster but is in fact a gentle beast. As a beast who most thrives on water, it’s no surprise that he would one day make his way to Crescent Island. But there he was accosted by a couple hungry Tokays who thought to eat the giant “fish.” After Link drove them away by feeding them Ember Seeds instead, Dimitri showed his gratitude by befriending the young adventurer. Link was able to ride Dimitri both on land and in the water, the latter of which being Dimitri’s preference, as he would plow through the water at great speed. The dinosaur could likewise eat any enemies who got in their way, and would even allow himself to be lifted and thrown by Link. So adept was Dimitri that he could even swim in the deepest and most current-influenced waters of Labrynna, which proved to be handy indeed when Dimitri offered himself as Link’s transport off the island and back to the Labrynnian mainland.

Syrup

There is a witch who runs a potion shop in the Yoll Graveyard, even if her shop isn’t quite accessible to those who lack the ability to swim or fly. When Link is able to reach her finally, she’ll sell him some very valuable (if expensive) Magic Potion; she also sells equally expensive Gasha Seeds. Her apprentice is young Maple, but it appears as if Syrup doesn’t really appreciate the work that her pupil does for her.

Maple

Maple is Syrup’s young apprentice, but she can be a bit lonely at times–and tempermental. She and Link bump into each other many times over the course of their respective travels, and because of the speed at which she flies on her broom, this results in both her and Link dropping items in the process. Afterward, the two scramble to gather up as much as they can. In later visits, Maple gathers enough from Link that she can dispense with the broom and fly in on a vacuum cleaner and later still, a flying saucer! On one occasion, Link bumps into her while carrying a Touching Book that he’d gained from Dekadin, a depressed boy of Lynna Village. She picks up this book, which moves her nearly to tears because of how mean Syrup can be. She insists on keeping it and passes on to Link the first thing she ever made, the Magic Oar.

Troy

There is a doctor in present-day Lynna City by the name of Troy who specializes in animal lore. He is very wise in the ways of zoology and will tell Link everything that he needs to know about three certain animal helpers in Labrynna, as well as Deku Scrubs and other certain monsters in the land, including Whisps and Like Likes. He resides in the northeast corner of town, with the Know-It-All-Birds (appropriately enough) his closest neighbors, to the south.

Bipin & Blossom

Bipin and Blossom are a couple who live in Lynna City, where the former works at farming Gasha Seeds and the latter cares for their newborn son. This being their first child, she is at a loss as to how to care for him–or even what his name should be. When Link comes along, he gives them a name that she finds to be very appropriate and uses. Later, Link will also donate some Rupees to help heal their son when he gets sick and gives Blossom some advice when the child won’t sleep. Eventually, the family moves to Holodrum about the same time that Link begins his adventure over there, at which point their child is older. Link continues to be involved in the boy’s life and is even there for pivotal decisions in the child’s life that decide his ultimate vocational path–either a hero in training, song writer, tree farmer like his father, or an idler.

Pippin

Bipin and Blossom live in Lynna City presently, but Bipin is a direct descendant of Pippin, a Gasha farmer in Lynna Village some 400 years earlier. He’s willing to teach anyone everything there is to know about harvesting Gasha Seeds–but he prefers for his pupils not to use his own soil patch for practice.

Vasu

Vasu is a jeweler who has set up two shops, one in Horon Village in Holodrum and another in Lynna City in Labrynna. He specializes in ring appraisal and is always looking for new rings to appraise and hold onto for their rightful owners. During his quests in Holodrum and Labrynna, Link becomes Vasu’s biggest customer, at one point amassing as many as 64 different Magic Rings. Whenever Link would bring in a ring that turned out to be a duplicate, though, Vasu would buy it from Link for a small sum of Rupees. Wise in the ways of these rings’ mystical powers, he knew the effects that each and every ring would have on its wearer, both for good and for ill. In order to help facilitate the differences between his two shops, Vasu had two different colored snakes on either side of his desk who would help in transferring a particular set of rings from one shop to the other.

Mayor Plen

Plen is the mayor of Lynna City. A historian as well, he is very learned in Lynna City’s past as Lynna Village. Link would be very interested indeed to hear what he would have to say about Queen Ambi and the mysterious girl who suddenly showed up to cause her previously good reign to turn cruel and wicked.

Mamamu Yan

Mamamu Yan is the top dog-breeder in Lynna City, but strangely she has problems getting her own dog to be sociable and interact with others. The problem is solved one day when Link comes in with a Doggie Mask for her, which she says makes her pup the cutest one of them all. Later, her puppy gets lost somewhere in the vicinity of the town, and she requests Link to search for him. She rewards him with her Magic Ring when he returns carrying the dog back home to her.

Postman

The Postman of Lynna Village’s past was a workaholic and a stickler for keeping things on a tight time table. With the construction of the Black Tower, however, and the sun standing still, the Postman no longer knows what time it is, which completely throws his delivery schedule off. Thankfully, one day Link came into his Post Office carrying a Poe Clock that would do just nicely. The Postman rewarded him by giving him some nice Stationery and then rushed off back to work.

Happy Mask Salesman

Normally he contents himself by sitting in his shop making and selling masks, but now he’s so hungry that he can no longer work. Unfortunately, he’s also terribly temperamental as well and doesn’t tend to treat his guests well. One day when Link stopped by his shop, he came carrying Tasty Meat that the mask salesman was eager to have. Link offered it to him, and the latter scarfed it down greedily–but then got angry when Link looked at him expecting something in return. Soon, though, he composed himself and gave the lad a Doggie Mask now that he was happily full.

Dekadin

Dekadin was a lonely, depressed boy living alone in a darkened house in Lynna Village. All he wanted was to sit alone with his troubles and read his many books. He thought that he wanted to laugh his troubles away, but once when Link visited his house and told him a Funny Joke from the future, he sarcastically remarked, “That’s so funny, I forgot to laugh.” Nevertheless, he gave Link his Touching Book to thank him for trying. Thereafter, Dekadin learned to embrace his inner darkness.

Lynna Comedians

Quite the opposite of Dekadin in the past, the two comedians in present-day Lynna City stand outside by the river and think of new jokes and how they can perform well. A Cheesy Mustache in particular would suit one just well. So when Link arrived one day carrying such a mustache, they gladly accepted it and gave him a Funny Joke to tell someone who was darkly depressed. And of course, they told Link and other passerby jokes of their own too.

Lynna Shopkeeper

This humble old man owns a shop in the southeast of Lynna City. He sells a variety of wares that Link found useful on his quest, including a Strange Flute, Gasha Seeds, and the Wooden Shield. Later, through the magic of time travel, Link happened upon the secret section of the shop in the basement, where he was able to buy much more expensive items. Once Link cleared out the inventory, the shopkeeper challenged Link to a guessing game involving two treasure chests, the grand prize for which was a Magic Ring that he could get appraised at Vasu Jewelers.

???

One day in Lynna Village’s past, Link entered a Toilet shack to find a hand reaching disturbingly out of a hole. He didn’t know who this was or if he lived underneath in the sewers or anything. All he knew was that the hand was in need of some…paper. So Link instinctively gave him the Stationery that he’d just received from the Postman, and the hand was glad to use it–and passed on to Link his Stink Bag, a rather dubious reward indeed. Also, if Link put any objects into the hole where the hand was, he was sure to get some interesting responses.

Tingle

A 35-year-old self-proclaimed “reincarnation of a fairy” dwelled in the highlands of South Shore where he made maps and sea charts. Because the high bluff where he worked wasn’t high enough, he floated on his trusty balloon in order to get a better lay of the land. Even if someone were to cut down his balloon and ground him, as long as such a one was willing to be friends with Tingle, the cartographer would still gladly help them. One time he ran into what he seemed to be a true blue fairy boy in Link, and in exchange for his friendship gladly offered the lad an Island Chart. Later, because of his love of Mystical Seeds, when Link returned to him, he enabled his Seed Satchel to carry even more seeds. Tingle wasn’t liked by everyone, though. The villagers of Lynna thought that he needed to act more his age, and Ricky the kangaroo couldn’t even stand to be around him.

Rafton

Rafton is a boy in Labrynna’s past who dreamed of sailing the wild seas near where he lived. He was adept at making rafts, but he couldn’t seem to find a rope that would last in water, even though he knew that Cheval, who lived nearby, was working on such a rope. It took Link retrieving this rope in the future and coming back in order for Ralph to attain, and he was so grateful that he let Link be the first to use his raft. Unfortunately, this initial raft was destroyed in the storm that shipwrecked Link on Crescent Island thereafter. Later, Link returned to Rafton carrying a Magic Oar from Maple, which was just what Rafton needed to enter a local rafting race. He passed on a Sea Ukelele that he found in return.

Cheval

Cheval was an inventor who also lived on South Shore in the past, not far from Rafton. He was working on inventing both a pair of flippers for swimming and rope that won’t decay in water. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until near the end of his life that he finally succeeded in finishing both inventions, which Link retrieved from Cheval’s grave in the future. Returning to the past, he used the Zora’s Flippers to swim and passed on the Cheval Rope to Rafton who made for Link a raft to navigate the tumultuous Labrynnian sea.

Tokkey

Tokkey was a genius composer who hid himself in his secret home underneath Talus Lake in ancient Labrynna, whose life’s work was to perfect a tune that would carry one forward in time. He’d run into a roadblock until Link found his dwelling place and played the Tune of Echoes for him, which was just the spark of inspiration that the composer needed. Afterward he taught Link the Tune of Currents, which allowed the young adventurer to transport himself back to the present day anywhere in Labrynna without the need for time portals.

Patch

It’s rare that Patch the restoration guru gets any visitors. This is probably for two reasons: First, his office is located high atop Restoration Wall, which would be inaccessible to all but the most hardy adventurers. Second, the price for his repairs was to participate in his “ridiculous” ceremony, called Patch’s Crazy Cart, whereby the item was placed on a track with a cart going around the room. The customer would have to step on a switch to ensure that the cart would travel around the item instead of running into it, for if it ran into the item, the ceremony would end. Meanwhile, the traveler would have to fight against a wave of beasts, knocking them into any of the holes in the floor to win Patch’s work. Although he claimed it was a delicate ceremony, it was more than obvious that this whole game was just a charade concocted for his strange sense of entertainment.

Tokays

The Tokays are a mysterious race inhabiting the remote Crescent Island in the southeastern portion of Labrynna. A relatively peaceful race, they’re not well-mannered in the way of hosting guests. So they’ve become a race of scavengers, swiping items from unsuspecting travelers–yet at least they’re quick to give the items back, or at least to barter with them. Link encountered this curious race of lizard-like creatures when he shipwrecked on ancient Crescent Island and had all his items confiscated. He gained them back one by one by navigating the island and negotiating with the Tokays–the last of which even managed to upgrade his shield when Link found him much later in his journey.

Rosa

Rosa is a Subrosian bachlorette, but she is traveling abroad from Subrosia and has reached Labrynna. Link first encounters her on Crescent Island where she has gotten his Shovel back for him. However, Rosa is a much more independent woman now and will no longer go on dates with him as she did back in Subrosia. Link encounters her one more time at the Goron Dance Hall in the present, but Rosa finds the Goron Dance to be inferior to the Subrosian Dance. Unbeknownst to her (as Link would find after traveling to the past), the ancient Goron Dance was actually the inspiration for the Subrosian Dance.

Gorons

The Gorons are a peaceful stone-like, rock-eating people who live in the mountains in the far north of Labrynna, a place known as Rolling Ridge. Twice in their history, the Gorons have been in trouble, and it was Link who aided them both times. First, in the ancient past, the Goron Elder was trapped under fallen rocks, and it was Link who brought a Bomb Flower to help release him. Several centuries later, the Great Moblin set up a fortress atop Rolling Ridge and stole the Gorons’ crop of Bomb Flowers and harrassed them in other ways. Link saved the day by defeating the Great Moblin and battle, destroying his keep in the process. The Gorons were a fun-loving race and believed in the virtue of recreation. They established many games throughout their mountainous dwelling places, including the Big Bang Game, Target Carts, and most famously, the Goron Dance.

Goron Elder

The Goron Elder is responsible for protecting the peace of ancient Rolling Ridge; he also helps in harvesting Bomb Flowers in those mountains. He was trapped once under a large rock, but after Link’s Bomb Flower freed him, he boasted that a rock that size couldn’t keep him down–even though he hadn’t been able to budge previous to Link’s intervention.

Graceful Goron

By the time Link reached present-day Rolling Ridge, there had been five generations of Graceful Gorons leading the sacred Goron Dance at the base of the mountain. So crucial had this dance become to Goron identity in this region that to master it was the proof of such identity, and no one would be allowed access to the upper regions of the mountain until one could prove oneself. In his travels, Link encountered the first and fifth generations of the Graceful Goron, who invited Link to join in the dance. When successful, he was always met with a good prize. The dancers around the Graceful Goron always had inspirational words for Link, and in the past Link even caught sight of the Subrosians learning this dance, which they would eventually carry over in their way to Subrosia.

Zoras

In contrast to the vile River Zoras, the Sea Zoras were a peaceful aquatic people who dwelled peaceably with humans and all other Labrynnian races. They concentrated primarily in Zora Village, an underwater town in the southwestern corner of Labrynna. Not all lived there, though, like one Zora who guarded the way into the Sea of Storms, as well as an aged Zora who missed the sea and was filled with an unquenchable longing until Link came along and offered him a Sea Ukelele that did the trick (who then rewarded Link with a new sword). The Zoras’ guardian deity was Lord Jabu-Jabu, who in later days became sick because of the perilous murkiness of the water, thanks to a curse put on the sea by Veran. The Sea Zoras did their best to dissociate themselves from the savage River Zoras.

King Zora

King Zora reigned over the Sea Zora race for hundreds of years. In fact, Link encountered him both in the past and the present during his journeys! In the past, he was suddenly ill because of the bad water, a sickness that as Link found ended in his death. The lad offered him some Magic Potion in the past, however, which cured him, enabling him to survive into the present day. This was only the first of the heroic deeds that Link did for the Zoras. After he asked permission to enter Lord Jabu-Jabu, King Zora informed Link that because of the foul water, the fish deity was near death. Once Link restored the Great Fairy who herself cleansed the seawater, the king opened the way for Link centuries later, once Jabu-Jabu was big enough. Inside the belly of the beast, Link braved many dangers and destroyed the last of the monsters inflicting harm on the Zoras. So after Jabu-Jabu’s Belly was cleansed, Link emerged, and King Zora named him the Hero of the Zoras and granted him the Zora Scale.

Piratians

Also known as Skull Pirates, this crew at one time was a mighty pirate crew who sailed the seas in search of treasure under the renowned leadership of their Cap’n. One day some centuries ago, they got lost sailing in the Sea of No Return in Labrynna when Link came forth and offered them the Zora Scale so that they might be able to escape the stormy sea and come at last to Holodrum. The Captain of this particular crew is actually the long lost husband of none other than Queen Ambi, for whom she initially conceived the Black Tower so that she might ascend its height and keep a look out for her beloved in hopes that he would return from the sea. He never did.

Queen Ambi

Ambi was the ancient queen of Labrynna 400 years ago. For most of her reign, she was a good and upright queen, until one day the Oracle of Ages, Nayru, appeared out of nowhere and began to exert an evil influence upon Ambi. The tower that she was initially constructing to look for her husband turned into the Black Tower, so that she might ascend to the heavens and gain greater power. Her guard became more militaristic, and she oppressed her people, making them work endlessly on the tower, without rest. Not long into this sudden change of heart, Link managed to sneak into her palace where he confronted Nayru. But it was actually Veran the dark sorceress who had been possessing Nayru the whole time. Link freed Nayru of Veran’s grip, but the sorceress then possessed Ambi afterward. Later, the queen and hero met again, this time on top of the Black Tower. However, Link succeeded in liberating Ambi just as he had Nayru, allowing the queen to escape. Once the evil was expunged from Labrynna, Ambi returned to her normal ways, and peace was restored. Nayru recommended some travel time to Ambi, who explored future Holodrum, and it is even said that there she reunited with her long lost husband deep in the underworld.

Great Moblin

The Great Moblin set up his fortress at the peak of Rolling Ridge and began harrassing the native Goron people, including stealing their prized crop, the Bomb Flower. One day Link came through the area, and he challenged the might of the Great Moblin. Storming his keep and slaying the Moblins in his way, he confronted the Moblin King and threw his own bombs back at the tyrant. In the resulting explosions, the Great Moblin’s keep was blown to smitherines. The monstrous tyrant escaped, and it is said that he fled all the way to Holodrum to start trouble over there.

Vire

It is said that no one is a servant of two masters, but Vire was. A loyal henchman to both Onox and Veran, Vire was a giant bat-like creature who dogged Link on many steps of his journey through both Holodrum and Labrynna. But Vire’s terminal weakness proved to be his overconfidence. After abducting Princess Zelda, he took her into the Black Tower and challenged Link to overcome his obstacle course and reach her; the lad succeeded. Later, the two dueled in the Mermaid’s Cave, and the hero defeated the beast, causing him to flee. He swore revenge, but later as Link was journeying through Holodrum, Vire fought him yet again, this time in Onox’s service, but this time Link slew him for good. With his dying breath, Vire apologized to Onox and Veran for failing them.

Veran

Veran is the great Sorceress of Darkness, one of the highest servants of Twinrova, entrusted with the task of disrupting the ages of Holodrum and constructing the Black Tower so that the Flame of Sorrow will be lit, which was one-third of the rite necessary to revive the fallen evil king, Ganon. Always crafty, Veran possessed Impa in order to gain Link’s aid in reaching Nayru. Once she succeeded, she abandoned Impa in order to possess the Oracle of Ages herself and venture back into the past to influence Queen Ambi in building the tower. It was too late and the damage already done, however, when Link was finally able to confront Veran inside Ambi’s Palace, where he freed Nayru of the sorceress’ grasp. Afterward, Veran possessed Ambi and made her way to the completed Black Tower to begin the rites. Even though she set up a barrier of darkness around the turret of her tower, yet Link courageously fought through Veran’s forces, obtained the Essences of Time, and with the Maku Tree’s help, disspelled the barrier surrounding the Black Tower Turret. Inside, Veran fought the hero, using Ambi’s body still. Link freed Ambi as well, and then it was just the two of them. They battled on, and when Link prevailed over her again, she revealed her hideous true form and sought to trap him inside the base of the tower. After a final battle, Link overcame her several insectile forms and destroyed the sorceress. Nevertheless, because of the havoc that she had wreaked, she still managed to succeed in lighting the Flame of Sorrow…

Twinrova

The sorceress sisters Kotake and Koume are the surrogate mothers of the ancient king of evil, Ganon. Now, long after Ganon’s demise, the sisters return with a ritual that will be sure to revive the evil king–and bring untold suffering in many lands at the same time. For aid, they dispatched Onox to Holodrum in order to cast the seasons into chaos, thus lighting the Flame of Destruction–and they sent Veran to Labrynna, to mess up the ages and thereby light the Flame of Sorrow. Both times, young Link arose from the land of Hyrule to challenge both tyrants, and even though he succeeding in defeating them both, yet their purposes were accomplished enough to light both flames, now leaving only the Flame of Despair, which was the last rite required in their elaborate ceremony. For that, they needed to sacrifice Princess Zelda, so they kidnapped her and took her into their hidden lair in the Room of Rites. With the aid of the Maku Tree, Link followed them, at which time a great battle took place beneath the altar where Zelda rested. Link turned the magic power of the sisters back at them, wounding the Sorceress of Ice with fire and the Sorceress of Fire with ice. After this, Kotake and Koume combined their forms into one, Twinrova, and altered the elements of the room itself, turning it at some points into a fiery room filled with pits of molten lava and other times into a room frozen solid with ice. After much tenacity and struggle, Link dealt the death blow to Twinrova, at which time they sacrificed themselves to light the third flame and bring Ganon back to life.

In a former age, the Great King of Evil was a man of the desert, who aspired to world dominion and black arts. Through his deceit and trickery, he gained control over Hyrule and threw the land into a dark age. But he was confronted by a heroic youth who fought and slayed him, saving the land from evil for many years to come. His surrogate mothers, Kotake and Koume, concocted a dark ceremony to revive Ganon from the dead, and they attacked the lands of Holodrum and Labrynna in so doing. Their plan was only partially successful, though, since the courageous lad Link intervened before they could sacrifice Princess Zelda, the one remaining rite left. As such, Twinrova sacrificed themselves to bring back Ganon, but without the pure royal blood of Zelda, all they managed to revive was a frothing, mindless beast, bent on total destruction. Despite his lowered state of mind, Ganon remained a powerful threat and fought Link very hard, calling upon the powers of darkness during the battle. In the end, however, Link was victorious and Ganon destroyed. The deaths of both Twinrova and Ganon threatened to bring the Room of Rites crashing down upon both Link and Zelda, but the Maku Tree aided them and brought them back to the world above.
