Gohma

The mother of all arachnids infests the depths of the Great Deku Tree, and you must use your newly acquired skills to win this fight. The one thing you must know about this Parasitic Armored Arachnid is that she has a terrible weak spot, her eye. When the battle starts whip out your slingshot and Z-Target her giant eye. When you see her eye turn red, you must shoot at it. Alternately, you can use a Deku Nut. This will stun her, giving you a chance to slash her with your sword. If you do not defeat her by the time she regains consciousness, Z-Target her as soon as she gets up and keep her in sight as she climbs up the wall and onto the ceiling. She will attempt to send Gohma Larvae down to fight you, but a moment before she does so her eye will turn red. Shoot it with a Deku Seed, then finish her off with more sword attacks. If she gets to release Gohma Larvae, kill them as you would normally. When you’ve beaten Queen Gohma, claim your heart container and receive the Spiritual Stone of the Forest: the Kokiri’s Emerald.

King Dodongo

Inside a deep dark cavern in Death Mountain lives King Dodongo. When you fall into the Infernal Dinosaur’s chamber you will find it filled with boiling hot lava, severely limiting your moving space. Be sure you have your bombs ready, because only with explosive force can you defeat this behemoth. When the King begins to take in air, quickly toss a bomb into its mouth. This will stun him, giving you a chance to attack him with your sword. If you fail to toss a bomb in his mouth while he’s taking in air, he will unleash his mighty fire breath, so be prepared. He will also often curl up into a ball and roll at you. This can be easily dodged (though, if you’re having trouble dodging and you have the Hylian Shield equipped, you can also simply shield from it). Hit King Dodongo four times, and he will die. Claim your Heart Container and receive the Spiritual Stone of Fire: the Goron’s Ruby.

Barinade

The creature who tortures the sacred Lord Jabu-Jabu is known as Barinade. This Bio-Electric Anemone is not too easy to defeat. You must first toss your new Boomerang to weaken the monster. While it spins around, kill all of the jellyfish orbiting around it before they can reach back to it. When all of the jellyfish are killed, Barinade’s body will be exposed. At this point, it is vulnerable to your sword. Repeat the process until Barinade is no more. Throughout the battle, Barinade will shoot blasts of electricity at you. To avoid getting hit, you should try to keep moving as much as possible. Once Barinade has been destroyed, you can claim your Heart Container and receive the Spiritual Stone of Water: the Zora’s Sapphire.

Phantom Ganon

Guarding the extremely mysterious Forest Temple is none other than the ruthless Phantom Ganon. This Evil Spirit from Beyond is tricky, but can be defeated with some effort. In his room, there are many paintings hanging on the wall. At the start of the fight, he will jump into one of them. You will then see him and a decoy riding from a painting. The painting that creates a purple ripple is where the true Phantom Ganon will jump from. Quickly pull out your bow and arrow and aim at him because he is going to jump across the room into another painting. If you don’t hit him, he will fire a bolt of energy at the floor, which damages you if it hits you. To avoid being hit by this, stick to the edges of the room, which will not be hit. Successfully strike him a few times and he will fall off of his horse. This is where the real battle begins, for you must use your sword alone to kill him. The ghost will emit large lightning bolts at you. You must hit the bolts with your sword to reflect them back at him. He will send it back at you, and the ball of lightning may go back and forth between you and him several times, but once Phantom Ganon gets hit by it he will fall to the ground. Quickly rush to him and strike him will all you have. Once he is dead, claim your Heart Container and awaken the Sage of the Forest to receive the Forest Medallion.

Volvagia

Guarding the Fire Temple is the enormous dragon called Volvagia. When Link reaches his room, take out the Megaton Hammer and get ready to use it. When the Subterranean Lava Dragon pops out of one of the holes in the floor of the room, you must pound its head with the hammer. This will stun it and leave it vulnerable to further attack. If you fail to hit its head in time, it will attack you by either slashing at you with its claws, or unleashing its fiery breath. After a few hits, it will occasionally emerge completely and fly around the room. When it does so, it will either cause boulders to fall from the ceiling, or try to fry you with its breath. If it’s the former, keep running, and watch for the shadows of boulders to avoid them. If it’s the latter, you can try to hit it with an arrow. This will cause it to retreat into one of the holes again, and do some damage. Of course, it’s still advised you run away from its flame. Keep on attacking it and the dragon will lay at rest. Claim your Heart Container and awaken the Sage of Fire and receive the Fire Medallion.

Morpha

In the depths of the Water Temple resides Morpha, the Giant Aquatic Amoeba with enormous strength. Morpha attacks by grabbing you with its tentacles and throwing you across the room. Be sure to stay on ground and to keep moving to avoid this from happening. You must whip out the Longshot and aim for Morpha’s nucleus. If you successfully grab it, it will be pulled towards you. This will give you the opportunity to attack it with your sword. Try to wait with using your Longshot until the nucleus isn’t moving too fast, to increase your odds of actually grabbing it. Repeat the process until Morpha is no more. Claim your Heart Container, awaken the Sage of Water and receive the Water Medallion.

Bongo Bongo

Within the Shadow Temple lurks a most mysterious monster, Bongo Bongo. Take out your bow and arrow and shoot both of the giant’s hands. Be careful to not let it push you into the dangerous liquid surrounding its drum. When its hands are out of commission, it will charge at you. Stop it by attacking its eye. Since it’s invisible, you’ll have to use the Lense of Truth for this (although a well-timed Spin Attack can get the job done without using the Lense of Truth). This will render it harmless and enable you to go up and slash him repeatedly. You may need to perform this feat several times, but after a few slashes, it will fall. Claim your Heart Container, awaken the Sage of Shadow and receive the Shadow Medallion.

Twinrova

The Sorceress Sisters, Koume and Kotake, will put up quite a fight as they guard the Spirit Temple. While Koume utilizes the fire element, Kotake uses the ice element. They will fly around the room, and occasionally one of them will attack. They are vulnerable to each other’s element, so when Koume attacks, use the Mirror Shield to deflect her attack at Kotake, and vice versa. After doing this a few times they will combine strength and fuse into a much more powerful being. You must once again use your Mirror Shield, this time absorbing their magic. You must absorb three magic spells of the same type in a row. Once you absorb the third spell the absorbed energy in your shield will discharge. Aim your shield at Twinrova and she will fall to the ground. Whip out your sword and slash away. Once this is done the witches will be defeated. Claim your Heart Container, awaken the Sage of Spirit and receive the Spirit Medallion.

Ganondorf

At the top of Ganon’s Castle resides the wicked Gerudo king, Ganondorf. The Great King of Evil has already foreshadowed this fight with Phantom Ganon, for the same routine applies. When Ganondorf fires a lightning bolt at you, strike it and send it back to him, although you are dealing with a better shot this time around. It may take many hits before Ganondorf is hit. When he is, shoot him with a Light Arrow. He will fall to the ground, at which point you should take the Master Sword and plunge it into him. You will need to repeat this several times. After some time, he will unleash a more powerful attack: he will create a giant energy ball above his head, which will split into many energy blasts heading at you. They can be hit back at Ganondorf with a fully charged Spin Attack, which has the same effect on him as being hit by a regular energy bolt. If you get too close to the centre of the room, he will use an energy wave, which will destroy part of the floor, making it more difficult to reach him when he’s down. Once you defeat Ganondorf you will hear a distant rumbling… coming from the castle itself!

Ganon

With the castle completely destroyed, there is still some evil within. As you approach it, Ganondorf will burst from the ruins and use the Triforce of Power to transform into Ganon. Ganon will knock the Master Sword from your hand as soon as the fight starts, making you almost helpless. You must attack his vulnerable tail, either with Biggoron’s Sword or the Megaton Hammer. However, Ganon will not let you near his tail easily; to get close enough, you must either blind him with an arrow, Deku Nut or Light Arrow (the latter having a longer-lasting effect), or if you’re daring, roll between his legs when he’s about to attack. Repeat this several times while dodging his attacks and the flames surrounding the battlefield will waver, allowing you to get the Master Sword back. Equip it, and get back to attacking Ganon’s tail. Once you have delivered enough attacks with the Master Sword, Ganon will fall to the ground, and Princess Zelda will use her magic to hold him in place. Deliver the final blow, and Zelda will seal him forever into the Sacred Realm, leaving Hyrule at peace.
