Link’s quest through Termina will bring him face-to-face with some pretty evil bosses. Below are some tips on how to defeat them and gain the vile masks that imprison them.
Odolwa – Masked Jungle Warrior
Boss of the Woodfall Temple, Odolwa is a giant sword-wielding warrior who easily dwarfs Link. He is vulnerable to attacks from Link’s sword or from arrows, so it is your choice if you want to attack close-up or from a distance. Watch his sword slashes, as they have quite a large range. He will also call down some beetles to attack you from time to time, which are easily dispatched with a sword slash. His most dangerous attack is his spin-attack, which will cause massive damage if he manages to land it. You’ll know you’ve got him on the ropes when he begins to attack with more and more ferocity.
Goht – Masked Mechanical Monster
Your final foe in the Snowhead Temple, Goht is not the most challenging of bosses, but does take some time to defeat. The battle starts off, strangely enough, with Goht frozen in a block of ice. Use your fire arrows to free the goat-looking beast. Awoken from his frozen slumber Goht will then…run away. To give chase you’ll have to first don your Goron Mask and transform. Roll after the monster, taking care to dodge his bomb, rock, and lightning attacks. If you’re running low on magic, be sure to smash some green jars as you roll around to refill your magic meter. When you get close enough to catch Goht, just roll right into his rear, which will sometimes cause him to fall down, allowing for more attacks. Enraged, Goht will rise and proceed to…run away. You’ll know he’s almost finished when rocks begin to fall from the ceiling.
Gyorg – Gargantuan Masked Fish
Master of the Great Bay Temple, Gyorg is one of the tougher bosses in the game. Scarier than the shark from Jaws, this huge fish swims around in his chamber, waiting for tasty morsels like Link to fall into his pool. Before heading in to do battle with this monster, make sure you have a bigger boat…er, lots of bottled fairies, since he will take off more than a few hearts. There are two strategies you can use against Gyorg. You can stand up on the platform in the middle of the pool, sniping at the fish with your arrows until you stun him. After which take a dive into the water and transform into Zora Link and have at it. If you’d rather get your feet wet, stay in the water as Zora Link and simply stun him with your fin boomerangs, and slice and dice when you hit him. Keep your eyes open for the little mini-Gyorg’s that will swim out to attack when he opens his mouth. Just follow either strategy and soon you’ll be serving up Gyorg with some tartar sauce and a lemon wedge.
Twinmold – Giant Masked Insect
The end boss(es) of the Stone Tower Temple, the last temple of the game. So obviously, this isn’t going to be a walk in the park. First thing you’ll notice is that the two worm-like insects are a little big, even for our intrepid Hero. So you’ll want to toss on the Giant’s Mask to even the odds a little bit. As the two worms jump in and out of the sand, slash at their tails with your sword until they eventually are defeated. The tricky part of this battle is keeping up your magic meter, as the Giant’s Mask is quite a drain. Either stock up on plenty of Green Potions beforehand, or you can slash at the pillars that are found in the boss arena as Giant Link. If you shrink yourself down to size you’ll find that results in some potion bottles being scattered around. If you end up running out of magic, it is possible to do battle with the giant insects as normal Link, but you have to have pretty good timing to smack their tails with your little sword as they emerge from the sand.
Majora’s Mask
Final boss of the game, of course this is going to be a hard-fought battle, but with the power of good on your side, and some perseverance you will emerge victorious. The battle against Majora’s Mask is fought in three phases.
Phase One – Majora’s Mask
The only vulnerable part of this first phase is the back of the mask. Wait until the mask is spinning along the ground, then give it a spin attack of your own to knock it to the ground. Quickly give it another slash before it gets the chance to turn around. Another way to get an attack to its back is to put on the Bunny Hood, dodge to the side when the mask dives at you, and put an arrow in its back when it passes. After you’ve given the Mask what’s-for about three times, the guardian masks will detach themselves from the walls and attack you with light beams. Shoot them with three arrows apiece and you can turn your attention back to the big bad.
Phase Two – Majora’s Incarnation
This phase is a little silly. All you have to do is stand in one place and wait for the baddie to come to you. Once he gets too close go to town on him with your sword as much as possible. If he doesn’t seem to be coming near you, or you just don’t want to wait for him, plug him with a Light Arrow and run up to follow through with a series of sword attacks.
Phase Three – Majora’s Wrath
The final, and strongest form of Majora. His tentacle attacks will almost always land on their mark, so dodging is a rather futile exercise. Stay in one general area and after he wears himself out whipping you with his tentacles, blast him with a Fire Arrow before he regains his breath. That’ll stun him, which you can follow up with a Light Arrow attack, or just give him a few slashes with your sword. As the battle wears on he’ll wise up and begin to dodge your attacks, which means you’ll have to be rather quick with those arrows. Keep at it and you’ll eventually defeat the big bad and free Termina from his evil grasp.

Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland was released only in Japan and Europe, never making it to the USA due to lackluster sales. Surprisingly, the game was well-received among those who did play and review the game. You play as Tingle, a 35-year-old (and single) man lost in the world. Guided by the mysterious figure Uncle Rupee, Tingle fills a mystical spring with money and gain access to the wonderful Rupeeland, a paradise where nobody has to work.
