Link
The young boy they call Link was only a lad of sixteen when he began his adventure in the fight to save Hyrule. He was young, but strong and brave, with amazing sword skills. Throughout his life he has been known as the boy who is afraid of nothing, for he holds much courage in his heart. One day in the peaceful kingdom of Hyrule, Link noticed a mark which was apparent on his hand that resembled three golden triangles. Strangely, every so often his hand would itch as if the mark were reacting to something. Link wonders what this means but brushes it off for now, because today was going to be great, nothing could stop young Link today, for this day was his birthday. He rejoiced and celebrated with his family, but something was troubling him. There was still this mark on his hand and it was itching more than ever now. He thinks for a minute and decides to travel to the castle in search of Impa the royal nursemaid. Surely Impa could explain what was going on? Link finds Impa and he tells her his concerns. She examines the mark on his hand and and tells of a prophesy where the chosen one, bearing this mark, would bring peace to the land and awaken the sleeping Princess Zelda.
Princess Zelda
There once lived a beautiful princess, her home, the land of Hyrule, was to be her kingdom to rule one day; for she was the heir to the throne. Her father, the king of Hyrule, loved and cherished her and swore to always keep her safe. However, he was unable to watch the mischievous princess all the time. She was always wandering off in search of some kind of adventure. It was well known that princess Zelda attracted trouble where ever she went, but the Princess was stubborn and refused to listen to the people of Hyrule. Some say she was brave while others believe she was simply disobeying her fathers wishes. None the less though, she was very vulnerable. Evil followed her everywhere, taking advantage at any given opportunity. Many, many years ago, Princess Zelda was placed into a deep sleep by an evil wizard working for the prince of Hyrule. The prince despised Zelda, so much at times that he even resorting to torture and beating her. There was no guilt or remorse felt by the prince through his cruel methods, so having the wizard silence Zelda was no problem at all. Zelda’s knowledge on the whereabouts of one of the Triforce pieces, which were scattered across the land, was to be forever a secret, silenced by an eternal sleep. Her only hope was the tale of a chosen one, a mere boy who is pure of heart and righteous. A boy with the complete Triforce in his possession and the courage to use it. Only he, the chosen one, can free the princess from her sleep.
Ganon
He goes by many names… the Dark King, the Dark Lord… the slightly odd looking pig, but, if evil could be summed up in just one word, then that word would be “Ganon”. Throughout the entire series and various Zelda nasties, Ganon is by far the worst, evil and corrupt, wicked and cruel, feared throughout the land of Hyrule. Many years ago, this dark king embarked on an evil plot to steal the Triforce and use it to take over the world. After much searching and through a long and painful battle, Ganon was destroyed by a brave young boy named Link who possessed the legendary silver arrows. With Ganon’s death, the people of Hyrule got back to their lives, rebuilding their homes, growing their crops and raising their animals and young. However, just because Ganon was dead, didn’t mean things would be easy. Ganon’s evil minions were left to roam and rule the wastelands of Hyrule, waiting for the day of their masters return. In recent months the evil activity around the peaceful land escalated once again and the inhabitants were getting worried. They knew all too well that Ganon could one day return If the blood of one of Links descendants were to be spilled. Doing so would result in the resurrection of Ganon, which in turn would bring about the end of the world as they know it. If only there were some way to stop this…
The King Of Hyrule
Long ago, the king of Hyrule, a kind and generous king was loved devoutly by his people. He vowed to always protect them, shield them and keep them safe from evils doing. He was a proud ruler, his fair kingdom of Hyrule was blessed with such beauty and and glamour that it would be hard not to take pride in. The air was clean, the grass was green and the inhabitants were among the nicest people around. Along side his royal duties, the king would spend a lot of time raising his children, teaching them right and wrong, good and bad, thus guiding them in the ways of the world. His daughter the Princess Zelda, a gentle and beautiful heir to the throne and his son the prince, who was mean and cruel with no love for his sister or father. When the king learned the fate of his own mortality, he wept. His affairs were placed in order and the family were told. Upon his death bed the king did not call for his son, he instead called for his daughter. He explained to the princess that she must protect the secret of the Triforce, even from her brother. For if it were to fall into the wrong hands then the world would surely be doomed. “Promise me” said the king and with these words he died. Still to this very day, he remains the greatest ruler the kingdom of Hyrule ever did see.
Impa
Loyal friend to the royal family and possibly the most knowledgeable person around, Impa is the Hylian nursemaid, the one person everyone can talk to. Impa knows more than anyone could possibly imagine and she is not often proved to be wrong. Long ago, Impa was entrusted with a great secret, sworn to protect The Legend of Zelda which was passed down through her family to keep it safe. One day, as she went about her daily business, she received a visit from Link. He seemed troubled and upset so she sat him down and and asked of his worries. He explained about the mark on his hand, scratching at it and holding it out. As Impa took a closer look she gasped and knew instantly of it’s importance. Impa told Link of the prophesy and how he was Hyrule’s only hope. She explained that he was the chosen one, destined to awaken the Princess Zelda from her eternal sleep. The one who defeats evil and restores peace to the land. She showed him the way to the North Castle where the princess was asleep and urged him to hurry. As she seemed to almost push young Link out of the door, she handed him some crystals. Six in all and told Link to place the crystals in the correct places scattered all around Hyrule. In doing so, Link would gain access to the Great Palace and be able to awaken the princess.
Prince of Hyrule
The brother of Princess Zelda and son to the great King of Hyrule, was a very ill tempered young man. He had always dreamed of becoming king and as far as he was concerned, nothing was going to stand in his way, not even his family. He rejoiced in his fathers death knowing that his place at the throne was drawing closer. Only his sister was stopping him now. So the next day, the day after the kings death, the Prince began questioning Princess Zelda on the location of the royal family treasure, the Triforce of courage. Swearing to obey her fathers dying wishes, Zelda refused to talk to the Prince, making him angry and bitter. He began beating his sister in the hope that she would crack and reveal the whereabouts of the Triforce of courage. Even with her brothers cruel ways, Princess Zelda remained silent, upholding her fathers wishes even through the most gruelling of beatings. The Prince decided to better his chances of success by obtaining the help of an evil wizard. Much to his surprise, the wizard went rogue, placing the Princess into a deep sleep. From this day on, the Prince vowed to name all the daughters of the royal family to be born Zelda.
The Evil Wizard
Not much is known about the evil wizard, except that he was dark and sinister, with a mysterious past and a mysterious present. The evil wizard was commissioned by the cruel Prince of Hyrule to extract the location of the Triforce of Courage from his sister, the beautiful Princess Zelda, who was sworn to keep it’s location a secret forever. The wizard is the one responsible for her eternal slumber. The Prince intended for the wizard to torture and scare the princess until she revealed the Triforce location, however, much to the Princes surprise, the wizard had no intention of following his orders. Instead, he placed the Princess under his spell, resulting in her eternal sleep. The Prince was angry and wanted nothing but revenge, thinking only of the Triforce and himself he went in search of the wizard. The cowardly wizard fled from the Prince, worried that he would find ways of revenge, for there were greater wizards out there than himself. He then disappeared into the woods and was never seen or heard of again.
