Link is a courageous young boy who is destined to lead the kingdom of Hyrule to an era of peace and prosperity. He lives in a small cottage with his uncle and leads a pretty easy-going life. One dark and stormy night, Link awakens to a voice that appears meek and afraid. The feminine voice explains to him that she is captured and locked in a prison cell of the castle. Link defies his uncle and sets out to save her.

Zelda is the young and most beautiful princess of the land of Hyrule. The princess has always been blessed with much wisdom since the day she was born. A descendant of one of the Seven Wise Men of yore, she wields the ancient power of psychic abilities. Once Zelda falls into the clutches of an evil wizard, she sends a telepathic message to Link, one whom she sees to be the hero of a legend, to rescue her. Zelda is part of the wizards plot to dominate Hyrule and must escape before it’s too late.

Agahnim is the villainous wizard that aspires to dominate Hyrule and bring the world to a hellish state. Agahnim has served the King of Hyrule for years, and has always been loyal. However, one day he fooled his followers and killed the king and possessed all the royal guards, with plans of world domination. He now sets out on a quest to capture all the maidens that are descendants of the Seven Wise Men, for they hold the power to bring ultimate destruction. With six captured, he seeks the seventh princess, Zelda.

A simple man that is loyal to the Royal Family, and raises a fine upstanding lad. On the same night that his nephew hears a mysterious voice, he is called to Hyrule Castle because of terrible disaster and murder. As he travels through a secret route into the castle, he is killed and passes down his sword and shield to Link, as he is the only hope for the kingdom he once knew.

Sahasrala is the most knowledgeable man in all of Hyrule. Sahasrala is an elder who resides directly west from the Eastern Palace. He holds many secrets such as the legend of the Master Sword. When Link seeks guidance, he tells Link of the legend and sets him off on a great quest to stop Agahnim. Sahasrala, like Zelda, can use telepathic powers to guide Link during his quest.

The royal family has always been dear to the people of Hyrule, bringing peace for centuries. One dark night, the family was invaded by a deceitful wizard, bringing chaos to the land. The King was then horribly murdered, and all his daughters were taken. Every girl was a descendant of the Seven Wise Men, the Princess Zelda being the last. The royal guards were being controlled by the wizard and Hyrule was on a path set for doom, until Zelda contacted a brave hero.
