Soldier

The front line of the army; these young and able men of the kingdom haven’t seen any real action in awhile. When they’re not in battle, they surveillance the castle corridors to make sure the Royal Family is always well guarded. A few years after Agahnim was made Chief Advisor, some soldiers have been acting quite strangely. With every soldier Agahnim’s magic has a grasp on, his royal highness’ rein falls that much faster. Every possessed soldier in the Hyrule Army are set with ranks depending on the color of their armor, which determine their difficulty: green to blue and finally the toughest, red. Armed with a basic sword and shield, these run-of-the-mill soldiers will be one of the very first enemies you’ll encounter in the game. With just a few swipes of the sword, you’ll easily defeat these minions.

Knight

Appointed by the King himself, these men have experienced their share of bloodshed in the past to earn such a noble title. Living inside the castle, they are the first to answer the King’s call. Ever since the new Chief Advisor moved in, they’ve been sent on perilous journeys to obtain ancient books and information throughout the countryside. At first they thought it was just the wizard’s interest on Hyrule’s past, but it became too late to realize that they unknowingly aided the evil wizard get one step closer to his ultimate goal. Without a shield, it seems like Knights are slightly stronger and faster versions of the normal Soldier. However, they are just as easy to dispose of. A flick of the Boomerang and a dash with your Pegasus Shoes will quickly subdue these foes.

Archer

At times of war, these marksmen guarded the bridges, sniped in tall grass, and their arrows were the first to taste blood from the backline. With the castle’s many hallways and corners, there was no need to keep the majority of them inside, hence they were the last to be affected by Agahnim’s dark magic. Swift and agile, the archers are equip with a bow and an unlimited supply of arrows. There are multiple ways to kill these soldiers. If you prefer a close range attack, dash in with your Pegasus Shoes to pierce them with your sword. Or if you prefer the long range attack, use your own Bow & Arrows. May the best archer live.

Bomb Knights

These knights are one of the King’s last defenses if the enemy has breached the barricaded outer walls. They perch themselves on the castle rooftops in order to bombard the intruders whom try to access the castle via the main entrance. If such an event would happen, they’d come running inside with bombs blasting from every direction. Unfortunately such an event has happened right under their noses, but it was too late to react before they became a part of Agahnim’s mindless drones. If you ever find yourself at the mercy of these soldiers; go up to their level of playing field and settle the score.

Ball & Chain Troopers

Armed with nothing but a morning star, these highly trained knights are formidable and can adapt in any battle situation. During war, the castle is littered with these knights in order to protect the Royal Family and to attest for their last moments of bravery and honor. With the arrival of the proclaimed hero of Hyrule, they were the first to be suspicious of his actions. Their warnings fell on deaf ears, but Princess Zelda heeded the rumors. Now what’s left of these troopers can be found in the castle tower where a damsel waits for the true hero to arrive.

These are Hyrule’s elite soldiers, and with the whole army under Agahimn’s spell, Link must face a few of them on his travels to free Zelda. Stun them first with the boomerang, and then go in and slash away with your Whirling Blade Technique! Take note to only attack this foe when his morning star mace is close to his body. If your heart meter is quickly depleting the first time you encounter this knight, there are pots in the neighboring cell that you can quickly smash to obtain hidden hearts. Once he’s been defeated, he’ll drop a Big Key which can be used to free Zelda from her imprisonment. Other times, you won’t be so lucky.

Rats

Very adaptable creatures; they line the walls of the sewers underneath the castle, and various caverns throughout the world. In search of food, they tend to be attracted to sources of light. Despite their size, these vermin scavengers aren’t afraid to attack potential prey of any girth with their sharp fangs. As time went by, people have learned that standing in any source of water will keep them at bay from their on-going bites, but a simply flick of any weapon will also do the trick.

Keese

The terror of the night skies, there isn’t one corner of Hyrule where these don’t reside in. Preferable in dark caves, they use echo-location to guide themselves and hunt. Carnivorous creatures, they wait for the opportune moment to strike. They’ll make the initial attack to aid other wildlife to take down any large prey. Essentially, they are just Rats with wings, and they are just as easy to dispose of.

Rope

Individually Rope don’t cause any threat unless one’s back is turned against them. Named for resembling a coiled piece of rope when at rest, these snakes attack in packs in order to take down one large prey. When in a pack, they tend to surround the prey and make waves of short bursts of attack from different directions. If the prey is able to kill one wave snakes, another wave will come by in hope that the prey hasn’t had enough time to recover from the previous attack. Humans have captured Rope to be used as arsenal in overhead traps for unexpected guests in their castles, dungeons, and temples.

Crows

If you thought the possessed guards were the only things you had to worry about, think again. Hyrule’s wildlife can be just as deadly. Perched on treetops these territorial birds will attack any potential threat to their eggs. Intelligent creatures, they soar through the sky to prey upon small mammals and insects. They are attracted by the shimmer of any reflective object that may strike their fancy. Fighting the strong headwind is a battle in itself, so Crows usually take one attempt at attacking something before it rests back on it’s nest again to recover. In their resting state, they are basically immune to any attack. It’s when they’ve left their nest is the opportune time to attack. Arrows are fine, but the Whirling Blade Technique is recommended when they approach close by.

Vultures

The grim-reapers of the desert. They aren’t prone to attack live prey unless food has been scarce for a few weeks. In the off chances that they do attack, they’ll soar high into the sky and halo around the victim, then spiral in for a nose-dive kill. They one of the most difficult wild animals to kill in Hyrule. Once they have you in their sights, they fly up and make circles in the sky. Charge up your sword for the Whirling Blade Technique and wait for it to get close enough for you to release it.

Bees

Simple and yet dangerous insects, they only attack once their homes have been disturbed. Individual bees can be found in random bushes, while a colony of bees are found in the hives of some tree branches. Once they’ve targeted a threat, there’s no end to their stings. Bees have been known to become more tame once they’ve been captured in bottles. Once released, they’ll attack any enemies that lurk nearby, and return to their master for re-capture. Every Bee has it’s limitations and fly away when too exhausted from battle; but there is one Good Bee that will stay by it’s master’s side to the very end. Rumors say it can be found inside a cave located near Lake Hylia…

Rupee Beetle

These beetles are by far one of the weakest creatures the Hyrule Animal Kingdom has to offer. A non-aggressive species, they make their abode underneath large boulders so their natural predators, like the Crow, will have a very difficult time accessing them. As frail as they may be, they are quite rare among bug collectors considering their defense mechanism: they unearth rupees (hence the name). For the Crow, they may get distracted by the gem’s reflection in order for the beetle to buy enough time to make a daring escape. Humans are no different with their greed for wealth. When encountering this skittish creature, you have two options: Quickly drop the boulder on top of it before it harms you or throw the boulder away and avoid the beetle until it has unearthed a few rupees. After a few rupees have come out, the beetle will simply disappear. Weak, but cunning just the same. These insects have made their niche in the world and they intend to stay.

Hardhat Beetle

Born from the high-pressured burrows under the ground, these beetles have grown a hard shell that would put most shields to shame; not even Link’s Magical Hammer can put a dent on them. The only way to get rid of these territorial creatures is to push them off a ledge by continuously slashing at their bodies.

Octorocks

Raised by the shores of essentially any body of water, this peculiar species have easily adapted to scurry on dry land. The “rocks” that they spit out are highly condensed minerals they’ve collected from filtering the air and water through their stouts. If you can see one, there are possibly three others nearby. They live and hunt together in small packs in order for greater chances of survival and success. Killing them is quite simple. Make sure to block their shots with your shield and just go in for the kill with your weapon of choice. Another approach would be to attack them diagonally since they only scurry horizontally and vertically.

Octoballoon

Despite their name, they have no relation with the rock-spitting animal. Floating adrift on the calm winds of Laky Hylia, this rather timid creature poses no threat to any neighboring inhabitants; and none to it. However, when an unrecognizable face arrives, it poses it as an immediate threat. Once threatened, it gets overly excited and explodes into a thousand pieces. If the Octoballoon bore children, they will burrow into the new terrain and try to survive on their own. There’s only one in existence. When it explodes you could either attack the babies, or let them die on their own as a few seconds pass by.

Mini Moldorm

Potentially blind at birth, these cave worms recognize the environment around them by touch alone. Constantly making twists & turns, they try to differentiate between prey and predator. Now knowing which is which, they’ll just headbutt everything along it’s path. As the years go by their internal bodies will get bigger so they must exfoliate the dead outer layer of skin in order to continue to grow. The outer shell will be used as food for other cave inhabitants. These creatures can be found throughout many caverns and tunnels of Hyrule. The good news is they don’t hold the same weakness as their queen; attack any part of their body a few times and they’ll fall.

Swamola

Living in one of the harshest regions of Hyrule, one would expect some of the most versatile creatures to live there. Swamola are no exception. These insects have their abode a few feet under the surface in order to temporarily get out of the harsh desert heat and to hear for any irregular movements on the sand. When they hear a potential prey overhead, they’ll pop their head out in order to create a miniature quicksand to trap them in. If the prey is bigger or stronger than expected, Swamola will shoot fireballs from it’s mouth in order to weaken it. Once captured, they’ll drag the remains back into the abode to finish their feast. When it comes to attacking them, try throwing a bomb in their midst or a blast from your Ice Rod. Of course a few simple slashes with your sword will give them a permanent dirt nap.

Leever

Like most desert wildlife, the Leevers’s main mode of living is underground where they can listen for movements on the surface. Once they’ve detected something, they’ll try their best at attacking if from below with their tiny rows of razor sharp teeth. If they fail on their first attempt, they’ll skim over the surface in hope to tackle the prey head on and then dig back inside the sand. Use any weapon at your disposal to get rid of these desert pests.

Armos Statues

Built by the Ancient Hylians, these statues stand guard at their post in order to draw away any intruders from the Eastern Palace premises. Standing at about ten feet tall, these stone cold statues come to life and attack anything that wanders nearby. Make sure to distance yourself from them once they’ve awaken, because they’ll charge at you. For close range attacks the simple Boomerang and Sword combo is a must. If you like to keep your distance, then quickly equip your bow.

Buzzblob

Buzzblobs are one of the oddest creatures that reside in Hyrule. Slash them with your sword, and you’ll receive an electrical shock. It’s best to approach them from a distance, with an arrow, but if close combat is a must, freeze them first with the Ice Rod and then strike to kill. If you were to sprinkle some Magic Powder on them something strange may happen…

Scissor Crab

Residing near the wetlands of Hyrule, these creatures have green claws and feet in order to camouflage in water grass to catch they’re favorite prey: fish. They attack by scuttling towards you, and evade the same way. As for killing them, pick your poison. Essentially any aggressive item you wield can kill them.

Geldarm

Camouflaging as an orange desert cactus, Geldarms pounce out of the ground in order to hurt Link. Their are five parts to it’s body, the top being the head of course. After attacking this creature multiple times, it will loose a body part. However, it should be warned that when it looses a body part, it goes ricocheting everywhere, and they can still be harmful to Link. The best strategy to kill these pests is to attack at a distance so you’ll be able to see and react to it’s bouncing lost limbs. Bow & Arrows do nicely, but if you want the job to get done quick, use the Fire Rod.

Geldman

What one may think is just a simple sand dune, could very well be a Geldman in disguise. These giants can never really be killed. Wherever there is sand, a Geldman can appear. So if you just killed one, don’t congratulate yourself just yet, another one is bound to pop up soon enough. Luckily, they only appear in the Desert of Mystery, but nowhere inside the Desert Palace. Between them and the Vultures, you may have a hard time staying outside for very long. When a foe approaches, the Geldman quickly surfaces and pursues, only to retreat back under the sand. The good news is, they are quite easy to dispose of. A slash of your sword, or a cool blast from your Ice Rod will do the trick.

Beamos

Another trap built by the Ancient Hylians, these invincible sentinel statues have a stare that could kill. If they catch you in their sights, be prepared to take a hit because it’s quite hard to dodge their laser beam attacks. The only advice one can give you is avoid being seen at all cost and don’t stand at the same spot for very long, so use those Pegasus Shoes when needed.

Goriya

The mimics of the Dark Realm. There are two types of Goiyas. Green and Red. Green Goriya mimic Link’s movements, and so, they are very easy to kill. Just get them at arms-length and then swipe them with your sword. Red Goiyas mimic Link’s movements as well, but they will shoot a beam from their mouths if Link is in their cross hairs. If you want to kill them, the trick is to shoot an arrow first, and then let them walk in front of it.

Eyegore

Eyegores are heavily armored Cyclopean that stay motionless, until they sense somebody walking by. Their eye is their weak spot. When it’s closed, they are immune to any attacks. Once they’ve awakened, they will charge Link with full force and this is the opportune moment to shoot arrows at it. If your supply of arrows have disappeared, try throwing a pot, the results may surprise you.

Stalfos

Throughout the years, many tomb raiders have tried to uncover the secrets and treasures of the dungeons throughout Hyrule. The ones that have fallen are those whose bones turn into these monsters. Cursed to protect the very dungeon they sought after, these enemies are as strong as their brittle bones. The fastest way to kill them is to throw your Boomerang before they leap in the air. Once stunned, go in for the kill. Blue skeletons will try to hurt Link by touching him, while the red ones will loosen their appendages to toss at him.

Anti-Fairy

A cursed fairy, these creatures roam about the dungeon walls in order to drain Link’s heart and magic meter. It’s said that if you sprinkle some Magic Powder on it, it will release the fairy of it’s curse.

Popo

A simple creature made up of blue & red tentacles, and hundreds of miniature feet, they move along the dungeon grounds in hopes of nabbing onto prey to sustain. These creatures do not actively attack, and thus pose no direct threat. Don’t waste your magic or ammunition on this foe. A flick of your wrist with a sword is more than enough to send them to a dirt nap.

Tektite

These spider-like creatures reside on Death Mountain in northern Hyrule. Tektites have been around for centuries and have learned to use their excellent jumping skills to evade, examine, or even attack danger at their own digression. Slash them with your sword or be safe and whip out your Bow and Arrow to kill them from a distance. Be fast, because they jump randomly from ledge to ledge.

Floor Tile

Some rooms in the dungeons have floor tiles that have been cursed, as a trap, and will hover above the ground and hurl themselves at Link! The best way to get past them is to not just dodge them, but place yourself in a corner and fence them off with your sword. However, if your shield is large enough, simply standing in the corner can do the trick.

Rhinobird

The Crow of the Dark World. Kill them the same way you would with their Light World counterparts. Charge up your sword, and release once they’ve flown nearby.

Rhinosaur

At one time they were wild, these creatures have been caged up to be used as a flamethrower of some sort. With their fire breath, these baddies aren’t very easy to get past. Time your actions correctly so you can dodge them. If defeating them is your interest, then try throwing any one of your projectile weaponry.

Deadrock

Although small, this creature has adapted making it’s abode on the summit of Death Mountain. They resemble small mammalian creatures with tiny wings, although they have never been seen flying, they have been observed using said wings to gain speed to skitter across at amazing speeds to avoid danger. Through evolution, it’s developed another unique trait in order to survive the harsh mountain environment: turning to stone. With falling rocks, pouncing Tektites, and wandering travelers about, Deadrock earned it’s name by it’s defense mechanism of momentarily turning itself into an impenetrable stone and playing dead. They mean no harm, but with their top speeds, they can be quite a bothersome pest at times while traveling the mountain tops. At first they may seem invincible, but they do have a weakness. Simply sprinkle some Magic Powder on them, and they will turn into a Slime. One slash will take care of them in no time.

Zora

Although their King may be kind, his followers act different. These mean-spirited enemies will emerge from a whirlpool and spit fire at Link as he passes by. It’s only in the Zora’s Domain that they feel comfortable enough to emerge from the depth of the water and fight on land. If they are swimming, any long-ranged weapon will be efficient in disposing them, otherwise just use your sword when they breach on land. Just be careful when your swimming in the water, it’s one of the few times Link can’t attack anything.

Poe

A sad ghost that roams the Graveyard in northern Hyrule, they carry a lantern in hopes it will help them light their way to the afterlife. R.I.P. indeed. If Link pushes a tombstone, it will awaken the poe that was in the grave. The ghost means no harm to anyone, but it is likely to get in the way. Simply take out your sword and slash it twice to defeat it.

Biri

These electrical jellyfish-like creatures are found mainly within the dungeons of Hyrule, and come in two varieties; blue and red. The weaker, blue Biri can be easily dispatched by attacking with a sword while it is not charged with electricity. The red Biri are almost identical, except that when successfully struck they will split into two miniature versions of themselves, which must be dealt with similarly. If you’re afraid of getting shock, stick with the Boomerang, that way you won’t get shocked even from a distance.

Eye Keese

While practicing his incantations, it seems that Agahnim has brought some Eye Keese over into the Light World, where they now linger in Hyrule Castle’s tower. The Eye Keese are mutated forms of Keese that dwell in the Dark World. Their keen sense of sight is very versatile when it comes to the various environments they have adapted into. A sword swipe will be more than enough to take them out.

Helmasaur

These small dinosaur-like creatures hide behind a mask that acts as a shield. There are quite a number of creative ways to dispose of these creatures. When you first come across one, you most likely don’t have the Magical Hammer yet, so you could either sprinkle Magic Powder to change them into a weak Slime monster, or try your best to attack their backside while they are chasing you; bombs would be preferable in this case. However, when you do have the Magical Hammer, smash their masks away and they will remain completely defenseless.

Lynel

By far the strongest enemy of the entire game! Even with a Golden Sword, it takes a few attacks before this chimera falls. There’s absolutely no way to defend yourself against him. All you can do is dodge his sword beams and give him everything you’ve got before he deplete your health meter any further. Don’t try to shoot him with any projectile weapons, he’s agile enough to dodge them. The best tactic would be to use your Whirling Blade Attack or even one of your Medallions.

Thief

These are Blind the Thief’s rag-tag followers. When Blind was banned to the Dark World, a few of his followers were lucky to not be in the vicinity when Hyrule Soldiers stormed his Kakariko hideout. The lucky few continue their mischievous ways by making their temporary abode in the Lost Woods. They’re more of an annoyance than anything else. What they’ll do is tackle you to get at your dropped money. There’s no way to kill them, however, after several swipes of the sword they will be immobilized for a few moments (just enough time for you to run away or slip by them).

Freezor

What could easily be confused as a statue that line the walls of the Ice Palace, these frozen corpses will come to life once somebody approaches near it’s grasp. Fire is it’s only weakness; the Bombos Medallion would be an overkill (and waste of Magic Power), so it’s recommended to shoot one blast from your Fire Rod to melt this minion into a puddle.

Aqua Beetle

As it’s name implies, these insects reside in aquatic locations, most notably the Swamp Palace of the Dark World. These creatures were made for the water, especially since they move faster in it than on dry land. Since that is the case, they have been known to travel through the sewer systems. Like most insects that Link comes across in his adventure, it will only take one hit to put this critter to rest.

Hinox

It’s quite convenient that these one-eyed monsters carry it’s very own weakness by having an unlimited supply of bombs at their disposal! If you’re fast enough, pick up one of the bombs it throws, and aim for his eye. It may take a few tries considering these beasts have a high rate for stamina and strength. The Bow & Arrow would be the weapon of choice, but if you really want to bring him down on his knees, use the Quake Medallion and turn him into a Slime. Now he won’t be any problem at all to take care of.

Pengator

Inhabited only in the freezing temperatures of the Ice Palace, these ferocious flightless birds await for their next hot meal. Naturals on the ice, their clawed feet prevent them from slipping, while their down feathers make them faster when they belly flop across the room. Aggressive from the start, Pengators quickly learn that food doesn’t come that often, so it’s always a race to take down any new prey that has walked into their midst. Fire & Ice are natural elemental opposites, so when it comes to quickly killing these foes, it would be wise to use the Fire Rod or Bombos Medallion. If your Magic Meter ever runs low, always remember to use the Ether/Hammer combination to replenish your bar.

Pickit Plant

Hopping throughout Skeleton Forest, this vicious plant observes it’s surrounding by it’s highly sensitive long tongue. It’s tongue is unlike any other; it can smell the various aromas in the air to differentiate for from food. It’s diet is quite peculiar. With it’s quick lashing prehensile tongue, it can steal a few rupees a traveler may be carrying. It does favor the occasional shield, but lucky for Link if he kills the Pickit Plant before it has enough time to digest it, he can quickly retrieve any lost item if he gives it a taste of his own blade.

Skull Stone

Thousands upon thousands of bones lie about the ground of the Dark World, and these Skull Stones hide among them. Although most regular skulls can be used like stones, Skull Stones await for any passersby to get close enough and attempt to take down whatever challenge it faces. A few swipes of your sword will be enough to put this skull to rest.

Stalfos Warrior

These large skeletons know their way around a sword. As skillful as they may be, they are one of the few enemies Link will face in his adventure that has only one method of eliminating. Once you’ve knocked one down to a pile of bones with your sword, quickly plant a bomb near his body and watch his remains blast into a thousand pieces before it has enough time to regenerate itself. Without a bomb in your arsenal, this would quickly turn into an eternal battle.

Cyclops Fish

Terrors of the deep, these aquatic Cyclopean can be found in every body of water known in the Dark World. Depth perception is a major problem one-eyed beasts never tend to have a solution to. In the Cyclops Fish case, that doesn’t seem to be a problem. They’ll occasionally pop their head to the surface and spit fire at any prey. If they miss, they’ll dive under, swim to a different location, and try again. Dive, evade, and fire: A simple technique to attack as well as defend. Any projectile weapon will do to sink these monsters, but the best advice is to simply dodge their attacks and save your ammunition for another foe.

Bow-Wow

These large metallic beasts truly are one of the invincible enemies of the game; they can be found chained to a block in the belly of Turtle Rock. Be aware of it’s tether’s length, for it’s bite is far worse than it’s bark. The only safe way to get past this beast is to dash past when it’s looking the opposite direction.

Daira

Lurking in the shadows of Gargoyle’s Domain are these armored reptilians. Sent by Ganon to aid Blind, they guard around every corridor to ensure Link won’t get in his way. There are two types of Daira: Blue & Red. Blue ones simply roam about, while Red Dairas walk one direction, but look towards another. What’s troublesome about that? The energy beams that shoot out of their mouth! When it comes to defeating them, use any weapon of choice, just be careful not to get hit yourself.

Bomber

Soaring through the skies of Ice Lake, this flying fungi drops a barrage of bombs to the unexpected denizens of the Dark World below. Swimmers be warned, if Bomber catches glimpse of you in the waves it will give it’s all to make sure you’ll never reach the shore. If you want to see this beast bite the dust try clipping it’s wings with arrows, or better yet, send it aflame with a few blasts from your Fire Rod.

Rabbit Fang

A small corrupted creature that is found in some of the more peaceful places in the Dark World. These little monsters can be defeated by means of your sword and any other weapon you choose. Additionally, removing a patch of grass they are about to jump out of or land in will cause the Rabbit Fang to lie on the ground helpless. If you touch the helpless rabbit fang it will say “Take it, thief” and disappear in the typical skull puff of smoke leaving the item you would have received for slaying it.

Babusu

Traveling between the walls are hordes of these red-eyed shadow reapers. Once you bomb a cracked wall, never assume it’s safe to go through. Awaiting for an opportunity to fall on it’s lap, Babusu will spring forth to catch any unexpected adventurers in their way. They are simple to dispose of; just step to the side of it’s path and when it comes out again, slash it with your sword.

Blade Trap

Usually tucked away in the corner these razor sharp indestructible mechanized contraptions are perfect for any intruder who’s foolish enough to stop along it’s path. As long as Link can quickly run by them, or even dash, they pose no threat.

Cloud

Clouds are corrupted versions of Anti-Fairies. They do not reduce magic power but are still a nuisance nonetheless. It is best to just avoid Clouds because of their mysterious powers. Both parts of a cloud are able to hurt Link, but only the smaller, less transparent part can be attacked. Essentially any weapon will do, but sometimes it’s best to stick with the practacle option and just use your sword.

Cukeman

When a Buzzblob gets sprinkled with Magic Powder, it turns into this peculiar creature. Other than it’s odd shape, what’s so peculiar about it? It can speak! Don’t approach it just yet, it still can electrocute you. The trick is to stun it with your boomerang first and then try to speak to it. After that, do what you please with it.

Nuranuru

These gastropods are first on Hyrule’s endangered species list. Not only are they weak to begin with, they are capable of killing themselves with a big bang. When a Nuranuru travels, it leaves behind a trail of bombs in it’s path. If it’s smart enough, it will divert itself away from it’s own bombs as well as avoid the ones other Nuranuru create. It would be wise to simply observe and let them kill each other off before getting involved. After a few seconds, aim your arrows to the staggering few and kill them from a distance with your arrows.

Zol

Concentrated gelatin magic, they hide between the cracks of floors. When anything walks past, they come out of hiding in order to commence their sneak attack. Dealing with them is no problem at all. One hit is enough to send them back where they came from.

Gibdo

Undead mummified soldiers of Ganon’s army, they have been around for centuries awaiting the day they are called into action. Not only do they have quite a lot of stamina, their strength proves to cause a lot of damage if approached. That’s why it’s recommended to deal with them from a distance. If you want to give a proper burial, torch their cloths for the pyre to commence.

Ropa

The Ropa is a mutated weed-like creature that inhabits the Dark World. They are much stronger than they look for their short size, dealing heavy damage with each blow they sustain to their prey and foes. They have a centralized light green body, and orange tendrils sprouting from their weed-like “head” that may be used in detecting prey or danger. They have no legs or organic formations that may be used like legs, so they stalk their victims by propelling their mass through the air by an unknown method. Due to their naturally armored carapace, they take more hits to kill than most normal enemies.

Slime

Weak, but rare creatures, they are a product of what enemies can turn into if magic is involved. Magic Powder has some obscure qualities, but enemies such as Helmasaur, Lizard, Octorok, Scissor Crab, Snapdragon, Spiderock, Skull Stone, and Deadrock will turn into a Slime if Magic Powder is sprinkled on them. If that wasn’t enough, it would be nice to know that the Quake Medallion is able to turn Hinox, one of the strongest enemies in the game, into one of these weaklings. Take this information into consideration if you ever find yourself up against one of these foes, and you don’t know what to do.

Water Tektite

There are dozens of creatures that Link can fight toe-to-toe on land, but there aren’t many that can attack him when he’s most vulnerable: in the water. Skimming on the surface of the Swamp Palace, this insect may not post a threat in shallow waters, but Link must think twice before taking a dice in the deep. In high tide, Link’s options are limited. He could try to evade their bites as long as possible while swimming, throw the boomerang, or use the Bombos Medallion on land. For a quick victory, use the third option if the odds are against you.

Wizzrobe

Agahnim’s personal students, they’ve learned a few tricks of the trade in the secrets of dark magic. They attack by casting magic beams from their hands. Don’t try to volley it back, they are unstoppable. Even with a common attack, there are still two different kinds of Wizzrobes: Green & Purple. The Green Wizzrobes are stationary, but they’ll teleport periodically to dodge any in coming attacks. The way to kill them is to simply be patient. Stun them with your boomerang if you don’t want them to get away, and use your Whirling Blade Attack from a diagonal angle in order for you to attack from a safe place. Purple Wizzrobes are slightly more advanced, and with their skull masks, they aren’t something to fool around with. They don’t need to teleport, what they simply do is make their body transparent and solid again at their own will. Of course, when they are transparent, they are able to walk through walls and such. The only weakness to this is, for them to be able to attack, they must become whole again. Shoot an arrow once they’ve aligned with your path, and if they shoot a beam, simply side-step out of the way. Continue this dance until they are vanquished.

Turtle

Turtles are enemies found exclusively in the Palace of Darkness. These monsters will slowly close in on any target in the vicinity, dishing out damage just from contact. Basic forms of attack will not have much effect on them, but a pound of Link’s Magic Hammer anywhere near their standing point will cause them to flip onto their backs, revealing their weak underside and forcing them to become immobile. Their exposed belly is vulnerable to nearly any form of attack, but if they go undefeated, Turtles will hop onto their feet and chase after whoever humiliated them even faster. Coincidentally, a nearby hammer pound will allow them to jump back onto their feet immediately. A hammer attack directly on top of them will provide an instant kill, although this is slightly more dangerous to pull off since it requires less distance between Link and his enemy.

Javelin in hand, these minotaurs surveillance the Dark World along with the Moblins. Quick on their feet, they take notice to any intruders that are in their midst, and have no hesitations to initiate an attack. They usually attack in groups, so if one is too much for you to handle, stun one with the boomerang, and Dash Attack the rest. Any weapons will do.

Skull Rope

Not very different from it’s Light World cousins, these snakes don on a skull for a few reasons. Being a relatively weak animal to begin with, they use it to intimidate predators as well as protect themselves from other monsters that may try to fight for it’s territory. Of course this helmet does nothing against Link’s weapons, so it really is just as easy to kill as before.

Pikku

Under the influence of the Dark World, Blind and his band of thieves have all changed appearances. Taking over the Village of Outcasts, the Pikku run rampant throughout the streets, pillaging from each other with no care for the world. Although they have changed their looks, dealing with them is just the same as before. It’s impossible to kill them, so just make sure not to get in their sights unless you want to be bothered.

Flash

Found under a few pots in the Dark World, this spell can be quite devastating to Link especially when danger lurks around every corner. If Link is unfortunate enough to be affected by said spell, the powers of the Moon Pearl cancels out. What does this mean? Link will remain defenseless in his rabbit form for a few moments until the curse lifts. To prevent Link from experiencing such an event he must get a wall in between himself and the Flash in order for it to break.

Reaper

Lost souls can be found anywhere, even in the Dark World. Slightly more aggressive than their Light World kin, Reapers roam around the exact same section where Poes are located. Is there an unknown relationship between these two spirits?

Lizard

These small reptilians can be found anywhere, but they prefer to roam in the wet region of the sewers of Hyrule. More of an annoyance than anything else, they don’t pose any great threat. If killing everything in your path is the way you’d like to go, a flick of your boomerang or a swipe of your sword will be more than enough.

Snapdragon

This strange creature was created as a result of one of Agahnim’s plant experiments. He uses his tooth-filled maw to snap at anything that gets in his way as he hops about. Cut it, burn it, freeze it. Use a multitude of ways to kill this monstrosity.

Moblin

A spitting image of the Prince of Darkness’ swine reflection, these are Ganon’s prized soldiers. Roaming about the western side of the Dark World, they hunt for Link in order to fulfill their master’s command.

Spark

This multicolored spell is immune to any attacks or magic Link can dish out. They cling to the walls in order to make intruders lives that more difficult. Sometimes one must be patient and have perfect timing if more than a line of these are squirming about.

Spiderock

A small spider-like creature that can be seen in most dry places in the Dark World. As it is a mirror image of the Octorok, it paces back and forth and fires rocks at Link. Hit is with your sword a few times and it will be destroyed.

Wallmaster

Wallmasters fall from above with a fast dropping, warning sound. They can be difficult to avoid, due to the rapid speed with which they drop, and the fact that it’s hard to know when they’re going to drop. They can be killed when they’re on the ground, but there’s little point in doing so: they’ll keep coming back. Also note that it is possible to walk into them after they have dropped and still be taken back to the start.
