EVERYTHING You Need to Know About Skyward Sword

The Zelda article industry seems to be booming lately – two interesting new articles have been released in the last couple of days.

First up, there is an article from Destructoid entitled “The case for cute: Why Wind Waker is the best Zelda ever”, and Nathan of ZeldaInformer has released yet another controversial article, this one called “Long Live the Triforce… or not.”

Both are interesting, so have a look!

I completley agree with EVERYTHING that article said.belive it or not, Wind Waker was my first ever zelda game (shut up).and the stuff you said about masculinity, well, I hate masculinity. I hate it. the world would be a better place without it. much better. it would. I know it you know it every female in the world knows it. I think all those meat headed, narrow minded neanderthall football playing high school jocks should go to Hell where they belong. you gotta problem with anything just because its feminite, er, feminine, fema…fe,- girly? wll then you are hereby cristened a homophobe. go back to Bass Pro Shop ya muscle head!

….. so yeah I completley agree with Nathan.

  2. -Link-182- Says:

First article: I agree with everything he says to at least a certain extent, but nothing will stop me from thinking that the sailing gets extremely repetitive. I love WW, really I do, but there's some things like the sailing that prevent it from being my all-time favorite zelda game(It's probably a close third after OoT and MM)

  3. -Link-182- Says:

Second Article: I'm stunned that so few people have commented this yet because this is more drastic than the "Ganondorf overstaying his welcome" article. Getting rid of the triforce would be like getting rid of the fedora in indiana jones, it just isn't needed. If you want the story on the triforce to progress, try to have the story of it progress, don't just toss it aside.

I kind of look at the triforce the same way Batman fans look at the relationship of Batman and the Joker. They can never seem to kill each other, but that's what creates such a unique relationship

Think back to Ledger's Joker quote "You won't kill me in some misplaced sense of self-righteousness, and I won't kill you because you're just too much fun. I think you and I are destined to do this forever." I'd say the same thing applies with Ganon vs Link and Zelda. Even if they will (seemingly) never make peace with each other, it's what makes them and the triforce, the triforce.

As to the Triforce article: ….okay, seriously. I appreciate the need for change, but this is getting ridiculous… What's up with the sudden turn of revisionistic thinking in relation to Zelda? Getting "rid" of things left and right is by far NOT the answer, and in fact would be the detriment of the series! It's like an infectiously bad trend; Change brews in rumor, then doesn't come about, so suddenly everyone starts crushing the staples in an attempt to force the issue of change…..To be honest, I'm worried about the zelda community, because it seems to be turning on itself and what we love of the series, and I see no lack of flippant acceptance of this….

However, I see the points made as valid, just overproportionalized. There are wonderful and dynamic new directions you could take the triforce concept if you really wanted to without bidding it gone…

As to the Wind Waker Article:

    Two words; RIGHT…ON….

  6. Edracon Says:

dude.. It was my 3rd zelda game… and it's my second favorite.. (#1 being MM)

  7. benthegreater Says:

    Good choices, mate :D

  8. eldagger Says:

    1:ocarnia of time
    2:mayjora mask
    3:link to the past
    4:wind waker
    5:twilight princess

  9. Chris Says:

Having a break from the Triforce story line and Ganon would be much welcomed however getting rid of them outright is bonkers.

  10. bluefire Says:

MY top 5 in order are:
    1.Wind Waker
    2.Majorahs Mask
    3.OoT
    4.TP
    5.ALttP

  11. ooccoowarrior Says:

If it wasn't for the triforce there wouldn't be a hyrule, or a Link, or a Zelda. The only reason link was in majora's mask was because he traveled from hyrule to termina.

  12. veeronic Says:

    what?! windwa???????

    HERESY!
    HERESY!
    HERESY!
    HERESY!
    HERESY!
    HERESY!
    HERESY!
    HERESY!
    HERESY!

I'm not even going to read the article!

  13. Oscar Says:

Mmm.. I have never played WW, but I love it! I don't agree in everything the article says, but I welcome the art style because it's funny. And, haha, it IS cute.

However, I think Oot is great. For me, WW and OoT are best friends becuase they both were innovative and had a great plot.

Even though, I'm starting to think that Majora's Mask is my favorite. I don't know, I think it's because Majora's isn't as easy as the others Zelda games.

  14. ChainofTermina Says:

    Is there a problem?

  15. mynameisntzelda Says:

I think the triforce article has a point, and it would be interesting to see more Zelda games that don't completely revolve around the triforce, but to do away with it completely is…just…wrong.

As to the WW article, some valid points are made. I don't mind the art style, though I do prefer TP graphics. I don't have a problem with cute. What makes WW my LEAST favorite Zelda game is that it felt like I didn't actually save Hyrule. That completely defeats the purpose of the game, because you're supposed to SAVE the place you're in, not let it drown under water. About the boat being one of the things that makes it so good, utter bull. That is purely the opinion of the individual. I have never been particularly interested in sea travel, and as a horse lover, I think Epona is one of the best things to happen to Zelda. I used to spend hours just riding her around Lon Lon Ranch in OoT, and my favorite parts of TP were the epic horseback battles. That. however is my own individual opinion, and cannot be considered a valid fact.

  16. veeronic Says:

sorry my distaste toward the graghical errors of nintendo got the best of me… my only problem is the proportions of the characters… graghic flow; good
    character proportions; WTF IS THAT!!!!???

furthermore the ocean took away the zelda feel to me… it just did…

they should have done it in an anime style… not 3-d south park…

  17. Davy Jones Says:

I agree. The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker is the absolute best game of all time! I don't agree with the caption you had under such a great picture of Link riding on the boat away from the Forsaken Fortress. Overall, it was a well written article.
    Go Toon Link!!!

  18. A wandering Sol Says:

THANK YOU!! Masculinity really needs to die in a hole. Whats wrong with some feminine?
WW was my first game too, and still one of the best in my opinion.

  19. dragonforce900 Says:

they should make a zelda like not just stick to one continent you can like start in hyrule then go to the edge of the map and end up in termina and have different missions for every continent
