Zelda series director Eiji Aonuma has been darting from interview to interview for days now, and doesn’t seem to be stopping.
In this three page interview, Aonuma mentioned some interesting things, such as the fact that Majora’s Mask was developed within a year, and that he thinks that Wind Waker’s cel-shaded style is best suited for the handheld games, which explains a lot about the graphic style of recent games.
In another interview he revealed some more about the upcoming games and himself. Apparently, he is the leader of a 40-piece band made up of Nintendo employees, that call themselves “the Wind Wakers”. Next time, instead of doing an interview, maybe he should show us a recording of the band playing some Zelda songs!

That is quite cool actually. Who knew he was actually in a band! I'm quite interested in hearing that actually, and I would help out in any way to get him to let us listen to his music. Though Majora's Mask and Wind Waker was another interesting topic, and I can't wait to here more about this "new game"!

so…. according to Aomuna's 8 year old kid, Link's gonna fly. woowoo.

Yeah!
Woohoo!!!
He answered: 'OK, Dad, first boat, and then train? Surely next time, Link is going to fly in the sky … '
Aonuma pauses, grinning. "I just don't know. If many people make many speculations … some of them might be correct.
A kite, a kite, a kite, Link is getting a kite! One thing I loved about Wind Waker was the ability to fly. But the Deku Leaf kept dropping, only by doing some weird cheat could you actually soar (I've seen it on youtube), I hope Link will be able to soar and surely the Legend of Zelda will soar too, so to speak.
The Water Temple was awesome and for me the meaning of the temples in Ocarina has always been that the next temple is something totally different. You go from wood to fire, fire burns wood, then you go to water, water extinguishes fire, then you go to to a place with bottomless pits and shadows, water falls down into bottomless pits, then finally you go to a place with lights and mirrors and shadows dissapear when you shine on them. So the next temple is always something that beats where you are now.

Let's not forget that the idea for Super Mario Galaxy also came from a Nintendo employee's kid.

i hope its not something stupid like the deku leaf or the sea gulls. i hope its something like rito armor so you actually have wings to use. that would be cool and might create some challenging puzzles

What's wrong with that, SMG was a pwnage game! ^_^ As always, the last level was brutal compared to the rest of the game. If it's a kite, it'd probably be one of those big square ones ninja supposidly used to create the illusion of flight xP

Awesome!!!
What a great idea, ehm…, I suppose the emplyes of Nintendo should get more kids or something, sounds like they are the ones doing all the creation over there!
Shiiiiigeruuuuu Miyamoooootooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EEEIIIIIJJJJJIIIIIII AAAAOOOOOONNNNUUUUUUMAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
If you hear this please give Link a KITE in the next Zelda! OK, I'm not a kid but I'm allowed to have ideas too.
Link had the hero´s wings in A Link to the Past Comic, and it was the bestest comic evar!

Yeah!
More precisely a KITE! A kite provides puzzles because the wind isn't blowing everywhere, or unconditionally, so you can't just fly where ever you want like a bird.

So don't have a Zelda fit, but what if he's not hinting at an item…but the new way of travel…the SKY! Just like The Wind Waker introduced maritime travel, combat, and exploration, what if the main way to travel was by some sort of aerial transport be it a creature, ship,…master sword turned into hang glider…haha j/k.
But no really what if the only way to reach the dungeons was by way of the sky over say vast seas of molten rock or water or just a really high tower? You never know. I certainly didn't see the train coming down the rails for Spirit tracks…
November 29th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
Oh yeah "Spirit TRACKS" is waaaay too vegue a title for me to guess a train for travel, I was like OMG a traiiiin XP (Sarcasm)
Flying would be cool, what if link got a suit that allowed him to glide with the air currents? He could fly alone, and the place would be mostly floating islands and stuff, like in Sky Hawks or Aerotroopers.
