Popular Mechanics has interviewed Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong and much more. In the interview, he talks about the origins of Mario, inspiration for Zelda and also the future of video gaming and motion controls.

When asked about his dream game that takes advantage of the Wii Remote, Miyamoto said that currently, he’s busy creating the next Zelda game. Does this mean we can expect a lot of well-developed motion controls in Zelda Wii? I sure hope so, but that’s my opinion. If you have an opinion, head over to our forums to talk about it.

"Nobody ever threw barrels at me"
    - Well, you have to wonder ;) We have to start doing more silly things, maybe what seams crazy today will be common game play mechanics tomorrow.
"IIE IIIEEEEEE, WHY ARE YOU CHASING ME WITH A FORKLIFT!"
"I WANT YOU TO MAKE A GAME ABOUT THIS!"
"…I always wanted to play a game featuring forklifts, sigh…"

Eh, I'm hoping for not too many new motion controls. A few more maybe, but if there are a lot in there I'll have to buy the extra stuff and I really don't want to do that. A new Zelda game is all we need, no new fancy stuff.

so…. does this mean they're definitely going to… do SOMETHING with the new zelda game at E3? Reveal something, talk about it….. maybe acknowledge its existence a little…… anything?

you know, with technology nowadays, you think if they re-made the power glove, you think it would work better? that'd probably be kinda dumb though.

as long as the new zelda game doesn't spoon-feed you the information. I want to figure puzzles out , and the challenge to discover things on my own. That's what I think the new zelda games SHOULD Focus more on. As long as they have that aspect improved, I think adding a lot more motion controls to the game is better.

its probably to late to complain about this considering the poster, but what ever they do, motion controls shouldn't 'require Link to be right handed. thats such a stupid excuse. just because Links a lefty and we're righties, that doesn't matter! it should just be "swing the Wiimote, Link swings his sword" no matter whos holding what where.

or you could be able to
    choose which had he uses…….

Please don't motion controlize Zelda! Don't ruin it, I think Spirit Tracks will do this by being a clone of PH. (I'm still getting Spirit Tracks, but it is really a clone.)
