Happy Birthday, Satoru Iwata!

Recently we witnessed the birthday of the grandaddy of Nintendo gaming, Shigeru Miyamoto. But let’s not forget Satoru Iwata, the fourth president of Nintendo who has lent his creative talents to the Zelda franchise, as well as Mario and Animal Crossing. Today he turned 53!

Joining Nintendo in 2002, Iwata is hugely responsible for Nintendo’s dominant success within the last decade. His strategic efforts lead to the company creating the highest selling handheld of all time, the DS, as well as the best selling home console of its generation, the Wii. We’re now at the dawn of both the 3DS and the Wii U and we can surely anticipate tons more inspirational games, Zelda included.

Really though, do those folks at Nintendo ever age? It’s still hard to believe that Miyamoto is now 60 by looking at him, but this just takes the cake. I’d like to think that they do in fact live forever and make video games for all eternity. Zelda Universe would like to wish Mr. Iwata a very happy birthday and many more years of success. Please offer your birthday greetings in the comments, too!
