MotionPlus has already been confirmed for Zelda Wii, but Aonuma recently  hinted that how you kill off enemies could end up solving puzzles. What this means we can only guess. You might be able to kill enemies a certain way in order for them to drop items, or maybe you have to strike push enemies backwards into pits by hitting them in the right direction.

Aonuma also said that he’s pushing hard to get a demo ready for E3 and eventually release the game by 2010. Apparently he did that with Spirit Tracks which he had previously wanted to be released by Spring 2010. Some fans will be worried that this will result in Zelda Wii being less polished than it would’ve been due to the rushed release, but if Spirit Tracks is any indication, it will be just fine.

News has been circulating the Internet about some leaked Zelda Wii information. The post containing this news apparently originated on 2chan, a popular Japanese site that has leaked correct information in the past on popular games such as Metal Gear Solid 4, Resident Evil 4 and 5, and the Kingdom Hearts series.

So if this newest batch of information is also true, what can we look forward to? I have edited the list slightly to eliminate previously confirmed points such as the changed dungeon-field-dungeon formula.

Now have a look after the jump.

We’ve all been waiting for what feels like eons for the slightest news about Zelda Wii, our generic name for the next console Zelda title. But if you feel like you’ve been waiting a long time already, just wait until you hear this news – Zelda Wii has potentially been in development for nearly five years – a development time second only to Ocarina of Time’s development cycle.

According to a Game Informer magazine scan posted by ZeldaInformer, Zelda Wii had been in development for a possible year prior to Twilight Princess’s GameCube and Wii release. That means development on the Wii title started in 2005. It’s not farfetched to think that Nintendo had more than just artwork back during 2009’s E3 expo, but chose to remain silent. That says good things about 2010’s E3, which will be happening in the middle of June.

Seems like we got ourselves the big one right here. How much do you want your copy of Zelda Wii? Because according to our secret source, starting from today, the 8th of January 2010, you will be able to pre-order The Legend of Zelda: Wii at all Gamestop stores. Who knows, perhaps they know a little more than we do about the possible PAL and NA release dates? Or it could just be they’re sensing an opportunity to get in quick. Either way…

…what are you waiting for?

Holy Wiimotes, Batman! Is Zelda Wii going to be released this year? Nintendo President Satoru Iwata claims that this is indeed the case. In an interview with Japan’s Asashi Shimbun Daily, he said “You are now less than 365 days away from a new console Zelda game”.

If this is the case, then we’re in for a good year with not only Zelda, but other major releases such as Mario Galaxy 2 and the mysterious Metroid: Other M. So get going to the forums and express your excitement and joy! And later your anger as Nintendo decides to delay the game for months.

Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the Zelda series has for the past couple of weeks made some interesting Zelda Wii related comments such as “It’s fun to move your body around”, which have caused a lot of discussion among fans. Well, Miyamoto has now made some more comments regarding Zelda Wii.

Nathan, our good buddy over at arch-rival site ZeldaInformer, has posted a detailed article reiterating everything we’ve learned so far about Nintendo’s upcoming Zelda game for Wii. If you need a good refresher about what’s coming to the Zelda world in the future, check out his article. Think of it like a TV show episode that does nothing but recap the whole season.

Shigeru Miyamoto makes yet another mysterious statement in an interview about Zelda. Talking mostly about New Super Mario Brothers Wii and Spirit Tracks, the famous game designer said he couldn’t talk about Zelda Wii. Then he said “It’s fun to move your body around”.

Popular Mechanics has interviewed Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong and much more. In the interview, he talks about the origins of Mario, inspiration for Zelda and also the future of video gaming and motion controls.

A flurry of quotes have been circulated from Miyamoto’s recent roundtable in New York City, where’s he’s discussed everything from Wii Fit to New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Miyamoto also managed to find the time to sneak in a passage about upcoming Zelda titles when talking about New Super Mario Bros. Wii’s Super Guide feature (bolding is ours):

Miyamoto feels this is an inspirational tool of sorts for players. “I feel guilty when the Super Guide block appears,” he said. “I feel inspired to finish the level on my own.” New Super Mario Bros. Wii is the first game to include Super Guide, but it’s possible that future Wii titles could include it too. Each title will be evaluated individually, but something like this in a new Zelda could “open Pandora’s box,” he said, because it’s hard to decide how much of a puzzle solution should be revealed.

Just here to post a mailbag, answering the questions of the masses.

I have no real fun way to post the mailbag this week, so I will just post it.  You can view the mailbag here.  In it, I answer questions about the Wii Zelda, the Timeline, other misc. questions.

Please send some more questions so that I can answer them.  It can be anything Zelda or Nintendo, and I will do my best to answer it.

That’s all I have for now.

You can view the mailbag here, and you can send some more questions here.

It’s not much of an update, but that’s all I have.  Until next time, enjoy the mailbag.

Ever been stuck on a level of a game and got so frustrated you just gave up? Well, not anymore.

A patent was discovered in January (Created by Shigeru Miyamoto) that hinted that Nintendo would be making games a bit easier for casual gamers. And just last week, it was hinted that Nintendo would be implementing a system, starting with the New Super Mario Bros. Wii, that would make games easier for casual gamers. What is this new system, you ask? Read on.

A darker age for the Wii begins.

A darker age for the Wii begins.

Long after fans began to plea for new Wii colors, the black Wii is finally here… or rather, will be here. The new black Wii will be released in Japan this summer.  At the Wii’s launch Nintendo showed us three other colors (apart from the white and black),  though it is a mystery whether the Wii will ever be graced with the presented red, silver and lime green designs.

Nintendo finished its E3 keynote a little while ago and after being bored half to death by some of the less interesting announcements, Nintendo announced not only Super Mario Galaxy 2 but also a new Metroid game called Metroid: Other M.

This game is not another Metroid Prime game and it’s not being developed by Retro Studios. Instead, this looks like a side scrolling Metroid game much like the original Metroid and the popular Super Metroid.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 was also announced, starring not only Mario but finally brings back his dinosaur steed Yoshi. If you haven’t seen the trailers for these games I recommend you look them up on the Internet. You won’t regret it.

Do you like the New Super Mario Bros on Nintendo DS? Chances are you’ll love New Super Mario Brothers Wii that was just announced at Nintendo’s E3 keynote.

You’ll be able to play four players simultaneously and enjoy new suits such as the “Propeller Suit”. This game will release worldwide this holiday season.

80px-e3Tomorrow’s the big day, folks, and we’ll be here to cover it all – Nintendo’s not going to get away with announcing anything huge without Zelda Universe catching it in its giant news net.

That said, we’ll also be liveblogging the entire keynote on top of posting news, just like last year’s E3. Bookmark this post, because this is where you’ll be seeing the liveblog happening – and make sure to check back at this post tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9am PST, 12pm EST to catch the keynote!

UPDATE: The liveblog is go! We’re reporting on Nintendo’s keynote right now, so read on.

UPDATE 2: The press conference is over – Nintendo clearly took the hint from last year’s E3 that this one needed to be awesome, and despite there being no Zelda Wii, this press conference was packed with a million Mario titles, Golden Sun DS, and a new Metroid entitled “Other M.” It certainly didn’t disappoint, so if you missed it read on to see what you missed!

Wii Fit & Mario

The Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun recently reported that by the end of this year a new Wii Fit will be released in Japan. This would confirm the rumors that Nintendo recently patented the name Wii Fit Plus. They informed their readers that the game will measure balance and weight even more accurate and will support online connectivity. But Wii Fit Plus wasn’t the report that sparked the interest of the fans.

The Queen of England just received a Nintendo Wii from THQ. Of course, since it’s for the Queen who just so happens to be one of the most famous people on earth, they actually had it gold-plated.

On May 1, the video channel that had been announced earlier will be released in Japan. The channel works like a living room where you can register up to 8 Miis. From here the video service can be accessed. Nothing is known about the shows as of yet, but several functions of the channel have been revealed.

Do you remember when you first heard of the Revolution (the code name name for Wii) way back when, and how it would use motion controls? And do you remember thinking that this would be the most awesome thing in the history of the world, and how awesome games like Red Steel and Zelda would be, with perfect swordplay controls?

Well that didn’t really happen, since the Wii Remote wasn’t as good as we originally thought it was. But with Wii MotionPlus, those dreams might come true as this little device effectively “fixes” the Wii Remote.
