Internet_Explorer_logo_oldIf you’re currently using Internet Explorer 6, I have some bad news to drop on you. If you’re not using the infamous browser, you can sit back and enjoy the news.

As of yesterday, Zelda Universe has officially dropped all support for IE6. This means that as we add features to the site and forums, as we refine the code to make the site and forums faster, and as we create new pages and guides for new Zelda games (like our Spirit Tracks section), we will not be checking to make sure that they “work” in Internet Explorer 6.

A long time has passed since the DSi was released in Japan (while us mortals are still waiting for it) and so far no big-name downloadable content has been offered. But Famitsu has revealed that Sega will release a Phantasy Star game for the console some time this month.

Yes, there is another group that will be playing Zelda for a charity. The group is called The Returners, and they are going to attempt to play all thirteen Zelda games in under 72 hours and will be streaming it live. The charity they are raising money for is the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

About a week before the marathon, they will open up donation so that people can either go to the website to click on a direct link to the charity or by using a Chipln widget that directly donates to the charity. The donation window will be open during the marathon till about a week after the marathon.

This marathon will take place at 5:00pm CST on March 20th to 5:00pm CST March 23rd. During the marathon they will be interactive with the viewers and answering questions as well as doing various skits live online while they take donations. They hope to give out prizes to their top donors, but they are currently  unsure if they will be able to do so.

They hope to reach their $5,ooo goal with our support.

More information about this can be found at their website.

Here at ZU, we have started a little thing called the ZUHC (Zelda Universe Holiday Cards), but in order to keep this project going, we need your support. The project was started to spread holiday cheer to the people of ZU. The cards are designed by ZU’s very own members, and are based on the suggestions other members have submitted. So far, the ZUHC team only has three members and only has the support of five. But five people are not enough to keep this project going, so this is where you guys come in! At the moment, we have no choice but to ask the people of ZU what they might want on the cards. Guessing can only go so far, so we need your suggestions. If you would like to support the ZUHC, then you can visit the public thread here. Community Coordinators can also visit the main ZUHC thread in the CC board if they want to help with this project.

There is one more spot if you would like to be an artist for this project, but we would like you to have some experience with graphic programs on the computer. If you would like to become one, just Private Message the ZUHC manager, Zien.

So, support the ZUHC!

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that Zelda Universe is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

No, just kidding, this wasn’t democracy at all. Jason decided to make me a webmaster, but wanted to have a parody of the US elections along the way. We started off with just having a choice between me and nobody at all, but this was far too boring, so we asked Power Shot to join in. Mind you, if Power Shot had won, he really would have been webmaster for a while – he wanted to have a little reign of terror to increase the drama even more! :3
