Recently, Club Nintendo offered a set of three Zelda posters in return for Club Nintendo Coins. One of the posters chronicled all of the different styles of Link through the ages, while the other two were from Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass.

Unfortunately, they were backordered, but it looks like they are now ready and arriving, so you should hopefully receive your Zelda poster set sometime this week.

It’s about two years overdue, but ZU finally has its own complete Twilight Princess walkthrough up and running, thanks to one of our newest additions to the Site Staff, Ciroton.

He puts his own unique spin into the guide, and makes it both informative and entertaining, so if  you are stuck at a point in the game you should definitely check it out. The walkthrough can be found here.

One of the most mysterious characters from Twilight Princess was the Hero’s Shade, the spirit of a former hero who knew many powerful techniques and taught them to Link. Not much is known about his past self, though it is widely believed from various clues that he was the original Hero of Time.

Dathen of ZeldaInformer has taken a deeper look into the past and true nature of the Hero’s Shade in his newest article, Spirit of the Hero, so if you played Twilight Princess and want to learn more about the character, you should take a look.

Increasingly, I see people asking for a greater variety of items in the Future Zelda section, and every time, I have to ask myself: why? Why would you want more items?

I just finished playing one of my favorite Zelda dungeons ever.

picture-1-10-56-489So which Zelda was I playing? Ocarina of Time? Link’s Awakening? Wand of Gamelon? No, I just finished playing “The Legend of Princess”, a indie freeware game released by Konjak, a one-man developer whom you may know from other internet game releases (Fun fact: Konjak and Anton, graphic designer of this site, both worked on the Nintendo DS game Contra IV!). The game is just a small Multimedia Fusion project, containing simply one dungeon and nothing else start to finish, but that one dungeon surpasses the many I have played throughout the Zelda series.

Described by Konjak as a “love letter to Zelda”, this game seeks to answer the age-old fan question “What would Zelda be like if A Link to the Past had based itself on Zelda II’s side scrolling mechanic instead of reverting to Zelda I’s isometric view?”. Most fans would conjure a bleak view of Zelda for an answer, but The Legend of Princess presents an exciting alternate view of a 16-bit Zelda as a side-scroller, complete with 16-bit Link’s pink hair. This game isn’t simply an arcade hack-and-slash with Link tacked on, but espouses a great deal of unique Zelda elements in the span of its one dungeon, such as a pushing-block puzzle and boss fights with Dark Link and Phantom Ganon, all rendered in beautiful side-view 2D.

Running a Zelda website is difficult – actually, running a fan site in general must be difficult, because writing a review of a game that isn’t [insert franchise here] seems impossible. I feel expected to like Zelda, when in reality I love tons of games, and dislike many Zelda games (game boy Zeldas, you know how I feel!). This is why I’m thrilled that my latest most favorite game bears such a striking similarity to the Zelda series that I could express my love for it in front of all of you ZU readers.
