A flurry of quotes have been circulated from Miyamoto’s recent roundtable in New York City, where’s he’s discussed everything from Wii Fit to New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Miyamoto also managed to find the time to sneak in a passage about upcoming Zelda titles when talking about New Super Mario Bros. Wii’s Super Guide feature (bolding is ours):

Miyamoto feels this is an inspirational tool of sorts for players. “I feel guilty when the Super Guide block appears,” he said. “I feel inspired to finish the level on my own.” New Super Mario Bros. Wii is the first game to include Super Guide, but it’s possible that future Wii titles could include it too. Each title will be evaluated individually, but something like this in a new Zelda could “open Pandora’s box,” he said, because it’s hard to decide how much of a puzzle solution should be revealed.

For those interested, here is the full relevant part of the interview between Nintendo Power and Miyamoto. Basically, he says that while the changes will not be radically different, we are going to see a difference from TP in that TP was a GCN game ported to the Wii, while this will be built for the Wii itself.

In an interview with Nintendo Power, Miyamoto talked a bit about the new Wii Zelda, and made the statement “I don’t think it’s going to be that radically different.”

This could be interpreted in many ways. Most likely it’s just a reassurance that we aren’t going to see “Zelda in Space” or “Link fighting in WWII”, or one of the other many wild theories that always appear during the speculation of a new game.

80px-e3Tomorrow’s the big day, folks, and we’ll be here to cover it all – Nintendo’s not going to get away with announcing anything huge without Zelda Universe catching it in its giant news net.

That said, we’ll also be liveblogging the entire keynote on top of posting news, just like last year’s E3. Bookmark this post, because this is where you’ll be seeing the liveblog happening – and make sure to check back at this post tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9am PST, 12pm EST to catch the keynote!

UPDATE: The liveblog is go! We’re reporting on Nintendo’s keynote right now, so read on.

UPDATE 2: The press conference is over – Nintendo clearly took the hint from last year’s E3 that this one needed to be awesome, and despite there being no Zelda Wii, this press conference was packed with a million Mario titles, Golden Sun DS, and a new Metroid entitled “Other M.” It certainly didn’t disappoint, so if you missed it read on to see what you missed!

Remember way back when, when Project Deluge was the rumored title for the next big Zelda game? It had an intricate and dark supposed storyline, a main character that, for a change, wasn’t our usual Link, and a creative steampunk setting?

Well, you’re not going to believe this, but a few moments ago, Nintendo unveiled…

Retrospective Remembrance: The Ocarina of Time

10th Anniversary Special Extravaganza
By Power Shot

Link decides to reveal a surprising retro look for the decade celebration.

Link decides to reveal a surprising retro look for the decade celebration.

So I’ve been asked to do this now. I’ll be writing this in a completely different format from my usual reviews, partially because of the significance of the game I’m being asked to review, and partially because I only have two days to get this out. In case you couldn’t tell, November 21st is the tenth anniversary of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Regarded as one of the finest games ever designed, it has sold 7.6 million copies of its original N64 release, and has spawned almost half a dozen re-releases. It was also the first game to ever receive a perfect score from Famitsu, which in itself is regarded as the most respected video game reviewing magazine available. Yes, even I liked this game as a child, and I still do as an adult, so it’s incredibly difficult for me to say anything negative about this game. So, instead of all of that, we’re going to take a look at this juggernaut of gaming and see exactly what made it tick back then, what makes us remember it now, and how it came to be classified as one of the greatest, if not the greatest games ever made.

Incidentally, this remembrance will contain more spoilers than a review of the new Saw film. But if you’re wary of spoilers of this game, then you clearly have no idea what I’m talking about, so give this review to someone who does.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple months, you should know about the economic crisis facing the world. Most of this can be attributed to the US and the sub-prime mortgage crisis. Most of you under 18, though, could probably care less. Although, if the economy tanks, how does Nintendo create games? Or what if they create them, but then have to sell them for extremely high prices just to turn a small profit?

What would you do if your family couldn’t afford games anymore? Would you cry? Would you even care?  Of course you would. Why come to a Zelda site and not care about gaming even a little? Well there is a bit of good news. Hit the jump to find out why.

Recently it has occurred to me that I haven’t been playing my Nintendo Wii as frequently as my nagging brain keeps telling me to. While there are reasons for this (food, sleep, plotting to overthrow the site) I just cannot bring myself to pick up my controller and beat up computers in Brawl anymore. There’s always a show on to divert me from playing on my white box of wonder. And I think I know why.

Ladies, gentlemen, and muffins, today I saw a very interesting statement made by none other than Shigeru Miyamoto, whom you might all know and recognize as the Golden Boy of Nintendo as well as the creator of our beloved Zelda series. In the interview, Mr. Miyamoto wished to inform the public of his preferential expertise at hardcore, or traditional, games rather than the recent stream of casual games that have been so dominating the industry.

Now, this comes as no surprise to me personally, but it’s also a very important thing to say now, at a time when casual Zelda is threatening to tear apart the community. As Mr. Miyamoto is always involved, on some level be it a designer or director or producer, with each Zelda Nintendo makes, I believe that this statement reassures me as to the new Zelda games in development still being hardcore, even if they shall be trying to appeal to both crowds of gamers.

Oh, and perhaps even more important than the new Zelda game retaining traditional game play elements, Miyamoto indirectly announced Pikmin 3. Excellent.

Before I begin this article, I would first like to clarify that what I am doing right now is reporting on a rumor. That is to say, like everything else on the Internet, this should be taken with galactic-sized piles of salt. Recently, rumors have been flying all over Zelda forums and Nintendo sites about the possibility of a new Zelda game in the works, according to an alleged interview which took place between Eiji Aonuma, whom many might recall was the director for Twilight Princess and most recently the producer of Phantom Hourglass, and an individual at IGN referring to himself as “Kyle.” The new game, code named “Project Deluge,” is scheduled to be announced at E3 2008 and is slated for a 2009 release date, if the rumor is to be believed. Having given my technical information about the interviewer, the interviewee, and the absolute verification of nothing but the fact that this is but a rumor, let us analyze some of the more interesting details given in the interview.
