Once again, we have updated our Spirit Tracks Characters and Items/Equipment pages to reflect the new information we have been given, and our Spirit Tracks Gallery has been updated with the new official art.

Next up are our Enemies and Bosses pages, which should be up-to-date by the end of the week.

Nintendo today released seven brand new Spirit Tracks screenshots and five new pieces of official art, depicting everything from train-riding to phantom-controlling, and we’ve downloaded them all and put them up on our image gallery. Check out the new screenshots here, or look at the new official artwork here.

It was pointed out to us that the images for our OoA and OoS Magic Ring pages weren’t working, so we fixed it. If you see any other similar errors, mention them here so that it can be fixed quickly.

It’s no question that ZU’s most popular section is the Ocarina of Time section, a section that, unfortunately, has been bereft of images for a good time. This is all about to change, starting with the Gold Skulltulas page, which now has one hundred screenshots indicating the location of each Skulltula courtesy of forum-goer 0nilink.

In addition to the screenshots, various errors and typos were corrected in the guide, and the formatting was changed to accommodate the images to the standard ZU guide format.

You’ll find images popping up all around the Ocarina of Time section as we move our efforts towards filling up the sections missing images. Staff member Steve has been gathering up as much high-quality Ocarina of Time models rips as possible and already implemented what we’ve gotten so far into the Characters and Enemies pages. Expect these areas to be filled in the coming weeks!

As a quick closing statement, all these efforts are part of a broader movement to build up ZU’s waning Zelda Media Gallery, currently sparsely populated with miscellaneous Zelda imagery. All the higher-quality artwork not displayed on ZU’s main site sections, and higher quality versions of artwork already displayed here, will be shifted to the gallery once we’ve gotten the main site filled up.

Are you surprised? You shouldn’t. Since Wii Sports comes bundled with every console, it’s bound to sell like crazy. The now second best selling game of all time – previous champion – was Super Mario Brothers for the NES.

I’m happy to announce that our Super Smash Bros. Brawl Characters page has gotten a slight face lift in the form of images with transparent backgrounds. This is the first part of an improvement we’re hoping to bring to the rest of our Zelda sections as well – the highest quality images on the internet. With that said, I have a few announcements about images!

Apparently, Burger King will be carrying Wii Toys throughout December. Check them out.

I just happened to stumble across this one. Today on my way home from school (yes, I have school on Saturdays) I went to Burger King to try a Mushroom and Swiss Cheese Burger I had seen last week.
Inside Burger King they had 10 “Toys to make you move”. If you thought these were Wii toys, you’re right on the spot. They were all Mario themed, except for one mini-labyrinth with a Metroid Prime 3 background.

Donkey Kong, Luma and Metroid prime 3

Retrospective Remembrance: The Ocarina of Time

10th Anniversary Special Extravaganza
By Power Shot

Link decides to reveal a surprising retro look for the decade celebration.

Link decides to reveal a surprising retro look for the decade celebration.

So I’ve been asked to do this now. I’ll be writing this in a completely different format from my usual reviews, partially because of the significance of the game I’m being asked to review, and partially because I only have two days to get this out. In case you couldn’t tell, November 21st is the tenth anniversary of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Regarded as one of the finest games ever designed, it has sold 7.6 million copies of its original N64 release, and has spawned almost half a dozen re-releases. It was also the first game to ever receive a perfect score from Famitsu, which in itself is regarded as the most respected video game reviewing magazine available. Yes, even I liked this game as a child, and I still do as an adult, so it’s incredibly difficult for me to say anything negative about this game. So, instead of all of that, we’re going to take a look at this juggernaut of gaming and see exactly what made it tick back then, what makes us remember it now, and how it came to be classified as one of the greatest, if not the greatest games ever made.

Incidentally, this remembrance will contain more spoilers than a review of the new Saw film. But if you’re wary of spoilers of this game, then you clearly have no idea what I’m talking about, so give this review to someone who does.

By Cody, in Link's Crossbow Training on November 15th, 2008. Comments Off

Crossbow

This is Link’s primary (well, only) weapon throughout the game. You aim it using the Wii Remote/Zapper and fire with the B button. Hold down the B button to charge up the Crossbow, then release for an exploding Bomb Arrow, which does more damage and hits more targets—but be careful! You don’t want to hit any penalty targets, don’t forget. Also, use the Z button on the Nunchuk to zoom in on faraway targets. In Ranger stages, you can maneuver Link about using the control stick on the Nunchuk. Another thing to remember about the Crossbow is that by shooting enemies that are glowing green, the Crossbow will temporarily be powered up with a rapid-fire ability making for some easy shooting and a good way to rack up more points–but you endanger your combo by doing so.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that Zelda Universe is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

No, just kidding, this wasn’t democracy at all. Jason decided to make me a webmaster, but wanted to have a parody of the US elections along the way. We started off with just having a choice between me and nobody at all, but this was far too boring, so we asked Power Shot to join in. Mind you, if Power Shot had won, he really would have been webmaster for a while – he wanted to have a little reign of terror to increase the drama even more! :3
