Spirit Tracks was available again in demo form at the German gaming conference “GamesCom”, but unfortunately it was the same old demo as the one that was available back in June at E3.

IGN reviewed it again anyway, stating that it was “as engaging and satisfying as ever”. If nothing else, this review is at least a small reassurance to those who worried that the game would be gimmicky and have little replay value.

IGN had the chance to get their hands on Spirit Tracks at Nintendo’s E3 booth, and had the courtesy to record their session with the game. The video covers most all of the basics of moving on the train – you can even read the tutorial text bubbles.

Ifixit has given the recently released DSi a technical first look and on their site they discussed what the differences are between the DSi and the DS Lite.

For example, the DSi uses a smaller rechargeable battery (840mAh) than the DS Lite (1000mAh), supporting previously heard statements that the DSi would have less battery life than its predecessor. The DSi’s additions, such as the long known SD/SDHC expansion slot, are also discussed.

Nintendo’s UK office has revealed the release dates of two Wii-makes; Gamecube games with Wii-mote compatibility.

Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis will release in the UK February 6 and March 6, respectively. Other than the added Wii-mote functions, the games feature minor upgrades. Pikmin will feature a new and better save system while Mario Power Tennis will have more camera options and a new split-screen mode.

While a lot of people are indeed delighted by this, some say that Nintendo could – and certainly should – have put some more effort into upgrading the games, like adding extra characters, costumes or other bonus material. As always, head over to the forums to make your voice heard.

In IGN’s most recent Nintendo Voice Chat Podcast, the podcast talked about a game that found its way around friend codes. It is supposed to be a “Major Online Title” being released some time this year.

According to IGN, it is a game that has already been announced. Joystiq has confirmed that it is not The Conduit. What in the world could it be? EA, in the past, has already released games that do not rely on Nintendo’s special wi-fi connection to play online – but this is looking to be slightly sifferent.

I don’t think it really matters what game it is, what are the chances that Nintendo lets this slide? If they do, I will definitely be excited, because it may mean the end of the codes all together. What game do you think IGN could be talking about?
