Interested in getting a Zelda-themed ocarina so that you can be like Link in Ocarina of Time? Blast Magazine recently interviewed ocarina-makers STL Ocarina about their Zelda-themed products and plans for the future. You can read the interview here.

For awhile now the mysterious animated clock on a site owned by Marvelous Entertainment, well known for the popular Harvest Moon series, has been “harassing” the Zelda community for quite some time.  Most viewers have noticed the undeniable famous symbol of our beloved series, the Triforce. It is because of this, numerous speculations have arisen out of this confusion. Several posts have been made here on the main page about what this whole mess could really mean. As the clock counts down, more and more Zelda fans have become seduced by its call, even after this post has been made clear, the answer will STILL remain in many minds. “Could this very well establish a new era in the franchise?”

The purported new Zelda game. Yeah, right!

Does the legal-looking picture to the left look familiar to you? With all the press surrounding this nearly year-old patent, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you in the comments said it was a frame from the next Zelda trailer. But with all the emails both the news staff and I have been getting about this story – and one other, more recent story involving a stopwatch with some Triforce-like symbols on it – I think it’s about at that point where we all took the time to take a deep breath, look at this hype, and come back down to Earth. Rumors are great; since we report news, we generally love to mess with your heads and give you false hope (it’s one of our pastimes, you see), but we can’t bring ourselves to do it with these clearly bogus stories being hyped up by supposedly reputable journalists.

Retrospective Remembrance: The Ocarina of Time

So I’ve been asked to do this now. I’ll be writing this in a completely different format from my usual reviews, partially because of the significance of the game I’m being asked to review, and partially because I only have two days to get this out. In case you couldn’t tell, November 21st is the tenth anniversary of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Regarded as one of the finest games ever designed, it has sold 7.6 million copies of its original N64 release, and has spawned almost half a dozen re-releases. It was also the first game to ever receive a perfect score from Famitsu, which in itself is regarded as the most respected video game reviewing magazine available. Yes, even I liked this game as a child, and I still do as an adult, so it’s incredibly difficult for me to say anything negative about this game. So, instead of all of that, we’re going to take a look at this juggernaut of gaming and see exactly what made it tick back then, what makes us remember it now, and how it came to be classified as one of the greatest, if not the greatest games ever made.

Incidentally, this remembrance will contain more spoilers than a review of the new Saw film. But if you’re wary of spoilers of this game, then you clearly have no idea what I’m talking about, so give this review to someone who does.

No, just kidding, this wasn’t democracy at all. Jason decided to make me a webmaster, but wanted to have a parody of the US elections along the way. We started off with just having a choice between me and nobody at all, but this was far too boring, so we asked Power Shot to join in. Mind you, if Power Shot had won, he really would have been webmaster for a while – he wanted to have a little reign of terror to increase the drama even more! :3

Before I begin this article, I would first like to clarify that what I am doing right now is reporting on a rumor. That is to say, like everything else on the Internet, this should be taken with galactic-sized piles of salt. Recently, rumors have been flying all over Zelda forums and Nintendo sites about the possibility of a new Zelda game in the works, according to an alleged interview which took place between Eiji Aonuma, whom many might recall was the director for Twilight Princess and most recently the producer of Phantom Hourglass, and an individual at IGN referring to himself as “Kyle.” The new game, code named “Project Deluge,” is scheduled to be announced at E3 2008 and is slated for a 2009 release date, if the rumor is to be believed. Having given my technical information about the interviewer, the interviewee, and the absolute verification of nothing but the fact that this is but a rumor, let us analyze some of the more interesting details given in the interview.

Is it true or is it fiction? Recent rumors are surging through the internet about a new Zelda game which will be announced at E3 2008. The presently titled Project Deluge or Valley of the Flood is rumored to be in the works from Nintendo in a recently released interview between Eiji Aonuma and a mysterious individual calling himself “Kyle.” The alleged interview, which originated at IGN’s forums, has not been confirmed to be legitimate but is raising interesting questions about the future of the Zelda series because of the new features in the game.

On the occasions when I can wrangle my brother away from playing Brawl I have found some time to myself to review this game. For those of you who have been living in the dank cave I refer to as the “Sony Fan Boy Fortress of Death” the Mario Kart series are racing games set in an alternate universe where blue shells are deadlier than lightning bolts. Despite its popularity over the years, the series’ most recent installment Mario Kart Wii picked a rather bad time to be released due to more interesting games like Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Grand Theft Auto IV being released in the same time constraints. I myself didn’t even know it was coming out until a month before its release. However, for this installment Nintendo has made the Mario Kart magic strike in a rather unique way, creating a game that deviates from the others in the series in the same manner that I deviate from behavior considered polite by my mother. Bearing all of this in mind, I’d like to take time out of my busy schedule to rant a little on the nuts and bolts of Mario Kart Wii to help indecisive folk who require professional assistance from published reviewers like me to decide if they like the game. Now that that’s over with, start your engines and prepare to be force-fed turtle shell!
