EVERYTHING You Need to Know About Skyward Sword

You waited patiently while we worked and slaved over hot keyboards, and now the day has come. Zelda Universe is finally releasing the largest and most polished Spirit Tracks soundtrack there is – 143 tracks from Nintendo’s latest handheld adventure.

All tracks are ripped in VBR Quality 0 (that’s very high quality, for you non-technical folks). We want this soundtrack in the hands of everyone who loves Zelda music, so we’re making it available to all of you in several ways. First of all, you’ll have to go to the Spirit Tracks Original Soundtrack page on ZU, either through that link or through the Music section on the left sidebar. From there, you’ll have the option to…

A lot of work went into making this the most professional and polished Spirit Tracks soundtrack release out there. We’ve got to give credit where credit is due, so know that this soundtrack wouldn’t be possible without…

  • Keith A. (aka silver-hero), who contributed all of the high-quality music rips that make up the soundtrack, and gave them all lovely fade-outs when desperately needed;
  • Jason Rappaport, who organized, tagged and named all the tracks, as well as created the album artwork for the project;
  • And of course, Nintendo and the brilliant Koji Kondo, Toru Minegishi, Asuka Ota, and Manaka Tominaga who spent their days composing and rendering the music we love.

We hope that everyone who downloads this soundtrack enjoys the music of Spirit Tracks!

Well, no one read this if you don't want spoilers:

Dark Link is the last boss in the 3rd challenge of the battle shop in Hyrule Castle town. Its hard and challenging to get to him,

What the hell do you mean, “Where the hell was Dark Link?” Like three different people above told you exactly where to find him.

  11. ChainofTermina Says:

oh. well thats a rip off if they're gonna put Dark Link in the game they should at least make him part of the main story. that hasn't happened since FSA they need to do that again.

  18. Violet Says:

This is absolutely fantastic, it's a really well put together soundtrack. Really nothing bad to say about it. However, one minor niggle I noticed… are the tracks "Fleeing by Demon Train" and "Facing the Demon Train" the wrong way around? I thought the battle theme was the longer one. Is this my memory being incorrect or is this just a small mistake?

  19. Jason Rappaport Says:

Nope, you're right. I fixed the soundtrack – redownload it! Everything should be peachy.

Thank you SO much for pointing that out.

  20. @MrIseay Says:

Love the soundtrack and since you fixed it i'll redownload it. Are you going to do the same thing with Wind Waker, Majora's Mask, Phantom Hourglass and other Zelda games i might have forgotten about?

  21. Jason Rappaport Says:

We're launching a new Phantom Hourglass soundtrack soon with over 90 tracks, and we were just provided with a nice OoS/OoA soundtrack as well :) … lots of music in the works. This is just the beginning.

  22. Violet Says:

Haha, sorry for causing extra hassle, glad I could help though. I'll give the whole thing a good listen to sometime after I've downloaded it again, but from what I saw that was the only real issue.

Of course, I have issues with the American versions of the names (the ones we have across the pond here are better, it's hard to deny) but I can sort that out myself. Whittleton indeed!

  23. @MrIseay Says:

    Great.

  24. zeldafan22 Says:

.how much MB is the whole zip file.

  25. Tyeforce Says:

No offense, but…this rip is bad. It's far from perfect. There are still missing songs, a lot of songs should have been combined, some tags are wrong, and some of the track names are just silly. I have another rip that is MUCH more complete than this one.

  26. silver-hero Says:

Well, could you be more specific. What songs are missing? I think its perfect. Along with the quality and the AWESOME name tags by Jason. You seem to be the only one objecting out of all the Zelda fans that liked this soundtrack. If you say the train speed sound changes and all. It from the original overworld track. But some in game effects changes the tempo in the song. That is all.

  27. Cody Says:

Are you referring to the Youtube? The Youtube channel doesn't currently have all the songs that the downloads page has, but we're fixing that today.

  28. Tyeforce Says:

No, I'm not talking about the YouTube channel. It's missing some songs like the slower versions of the Overworld theme. I'd have to look into it to list all of the missing songs. And another things is that some songs should have been combined, like "Linebeck III Enters" and "Linebeck III". The first one is a 6 second intro to the second one. There's no reason for them to be separated like that. I do appreciate the work that was put into this, but the rip I had is much more complete and has better tagging, and it has been available for download for quite some time now. I don't understand why they would even bother to make a soundtrack like this when there's already a better one out there.

  29. AnonymousEnthusiast Says:

Whatever is missing was purposely omitted because certain tracks differ only by a single layer of instruments and could only be reproduced by directly editing the midi files, which would require one to record the track directly from an emulator. This would obviously result in decreased quality. As for the separated tracks- perhaps you should consider that some people might want to use "Linebeck III Enters" on its own, without the subsequent track, for separate videos, projects, etc. There *is* a reason for them to be separated like that- convenience. It certainly doesn't detract from one's listening experience.

Everything was done for a reason, but your opinion deserves to be considered and respected- so use the "better" soundtrack and quit your damn whining.

  30. Violet Says:

After looking at the rip more carefully, I just want to reiterate that it's great. I have two questions though… namely, the "Mini Boss (Tower of Spirits)" track; did the Chief Geozard really have the music of the Phantom Hourglass bosses? I honestly don't remember this at all but I'd be willing to be proven wrong.

Secondly, is it impossible to get hold of a version of the Dark Realm without the Tears of Light layer playing atop it? I don't know the technicalities but it seems like such a good track to be missing out on. Oddly enough both the "Approaching Phytops" song and "The Great Eye in the Dark" are the same track but one of them has extra layers (used when Rocktite gets closer I think).

  31. Jason Rappaport Says:

As far as I could see, there wasn't a way to get that track; and I did look into that one, since at first it seems like a rather glaring omission and I wondered why it wasn't part of the rip.

The way it goes is this: If any of the tracks in the game "build up" at any point, then the rippable track is the most "built-up" version there is. Take the Tower of Spirits staircase for example; without disabling any of the MIDI channels, you've only got the full staircase music. We can't disable the channels, so that's all we can provide.

The same goes for the dark realm music :P … and the same for the overworld music (people have asked about going in reverse, etc).

  32. Violet Says:

Cheers for the answer, I understand. Basically it's not easy. Maybe some technologically advanced so-and-so can disable the midi and sort it out at a later date but it's not a big loss. I had meant to ask about the staircase too.

Is it true that that mini boss has that music though? I understand that the boss music from Phantom Hourglass is rippable from the game but I don't remember hearing it. Damn, I wish there was an easy way to check.

  33. Jason Rappaport Says:

I remember hearing it – I didn't explicitly check it, but I questioned it and asked a few people. As far as I know, it's the right music – I do remember hearing something of the sort play during that battle.

At this point, though, I'm done making changes, haha :P
