The Giveaway
As stated, Zelda Universe is giving away, in conjunction with STLOcarina, a bunch of Zelda ocarinas and sheet music. As with any contest, there are barriers to entry – but we’d like everyone to enter this one, so we’re going to make it easy this time around. Here’s how you can enter:
- Leave a comment on this post telling us what Zelda song you want to play with your ocarinas when you get them. While we’re not going to be picky about what you say in your comment, telling us a song would be nice!
- Make sure you’ve filled out the email field on your comment so that we can contact you.
- That’s it! We’ll select two random winners on November 7th, so you have a week to enter.
You may only leave one comment. If we find out that you’ve tried to enter multiple times, you will be disqualified. STLOcarina hasn’t mentioned any restrictions to us, so this contest is open to anybody around the world.
First Prize
Our glorious first prize winner will receive the whole shebang: The Ocarina of Time replica, the two Rupee ocarinas, and two Zelda songbooks to get him or her started on the path to musical glory.

As much as I'd love to play the Ballad of the Windfish, from what I've seen, it's a little complex to play, so I'd have to choose my second favourite song from a Zelda game, the Song of Healing. Blame nostalgia for my love of Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask.

The Ballad of the Wind Fish from LA. It was the first complex song that Link played and it is just so memorable. It really captures the emotion felt between Link and Marin.

Im aw9000 from the ZU forums, I currently make videos on youtube. But have not done any ocarina videos lately at all. I would like to play one of my favorite songs from zelda the song of healing and the song from "Wind Waker" that you can hear from the opening title. I plan to pursue a career with guitars, pianos, and ocarinas. I was first inspired to play an ocarina like many others, from "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time". I was also inspired by a greatly known ocarinist on youtube "Docjazz4". It would be a great pleasure to own an abundance of ocarinas. What inspired me was the relation ship between Link and many of his friends, including Saria.

I would love to play the full Song of Healing, ever since I have started playing Majoras Mask, I have been in love with this song. Its just so pretty. Sarias song would be nice to learn too, it would be so cool to just go into the forest and play that song! Have to watch out for Darunia though, he really weirded me out whenever he danced to it in OoT.

Well, I have one favorite song I would like to play on the Ocarina or a Rupee. It is from Ocarina of Time. The song is "Saria's Song", as you're familiar with.
The reason why I love this song because it is the best song to jump around and dance to. I used to have this as my ringtone, it is that cool.
It is the song that occurs in the game a lot. In the Lost Woods (Kokiri Forest), playing it to the once grumpy King Goron, and at the End of the Game Credits where all the characters were dancing around the fire pit. ( i think that's what really gave the game an awsome ending). Everytime I hear this song, I can't help but move my feet. A great tune, which I think represents the spirit of Zelda games.
Also, I love making videos. And if I'm selected, I promise to make a video playing the song for all of you Zelda Universe Fans! Thanks for the oppertunity, and enjoy dancing around. =)

If I were to receive an Ocarina, the first song I would play first would have to be Ode to Order. When I first heard it, my heart like, lit up. It was so weird. Then when I watched it in action with the Giants, I started crying because they were frozen, along with time. I was an emotional 12 year old girl, go figure. I have learned to play it on the piano, but playing it on an actual Ocarina would be insane! Let alone, the Ocarina of Time.

I'd love to have a Zelda ocarina. Most of the awesome songs are for a 12 hole ocarina, or the Ocarina of Time replica here. On the iPhone, there's a really cool app. It replicates an ocarina, with the holes on screen and to make a noise, you have to blow into the iPhone mic. To answer your question, the song I really want to play is the Lost Woods music from OOT. Good luck to every other commenter.

I would play the Gerudo Valley theme. It's my favorite OOT song and is probably my favorite Zelda song overall. The warp songs would be perfect too. The Wind Waker Dragon Roost Island Song is the runner up. Third place would go to the TP compositions.

My goodness, what beautiful Rupee ocarinas! They look like treasures (haha!
) to own. I'd love the chance to play one.
As for songs to play from Zelda, melodies that in particular I'd love to see the tablature for would have to be:
- Gerudo Valley (from Ocarina of Time): a brilliant Spanish flamenco-style rhythm, this has always been one of my favourite tunes from the Zelda series.
- Dragon Roost Island (from Wind Waker): this, too, would be a wonderful theme to provide for fans, and something I long to be able to play.
- The Title Theme (from Wind Waker): this is such an incredibly fun and vibrant theme! Wind Waker's musical Celtic influence shows through quite strongly here.
- Stone Tower (from Majora's Mask): simultaneously mysterious, haunting and catchy, this is my favourite tune from Majora's Mask.
There are plenty of other songs I love from the Zelda series, but these are the ones that stand out to me most at the moment.

As much as I love The Song of Storms, I think I want to play Ballad of the Windfish if I won. I've probably played Song of Storms to death on my clarinet (sometimes hoping to make it rain; I'm woman enough to admit it), and Ballad of the Windfish is more complex – I think I'd feel like I've accomplished more if I played it. I've got years of experience playing the flute, and know everything there is to know on music theory, so it would take me no time at all to learn to play my favorite Zelda song of all time: the Dragon Roost Island Theme!

Honestly it's a hard choice to choose just one. My first pick to learn to play would be Oath to Order, it's just such a sad and ominous song. If I can't manage to learn that song I'd turn my eyes to learning the Song of Healing.
I have no idea why but I found the Majora's Mask songs so beautiful and atmospheric. I'd love to have a way to recreate such atmosphere as a Zelda fan.

My favorite Zelda Ocarina songs are Zelda’s Lullaby (Ocarina of Time), the Bolero of Fire (OoT), and the Song of Healing (Majora’s Mask). If I were to get the songbooks, however, I would play every song, since Zelda songs notoriously pluck my heartstrings.
I’ve tried recreating the songs on my saxophone, but it’s not nearly as fulfilling as reading the music and playing an ocarina would be.

If given the opportunity, I would love to play the Battle song from Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. The game doesn't get much love, but it is among my favorites. It's particularly nice to not get bored of the song, especially after grinding levels out south of Nabooru Village.

The Song of Healing. The melodic song is so peaceful; and it's my absolute favorite. I know it on piano, and I'd love to learn it on the original instrument. Besides, I would love to learn how to play numerous songs on the Ocarina.

If I were to be one of the two winning contestants and recieve the ocarina(s), I would deffinately look up the sheet notes to the, 'Song Of Storms' melody. It has always been my favorite melody in the Zelda series. I'd play it at a slow pace just to to enjoy each note I make. Espacially when it comes down to rainy says!

I know a lot of people have picked the Ballad of the Windfish, but it's my absolute favorite song. Every time I hear it, I close my eyes (except when I'm driving) and I can see myself standing on the beach, looking out at the waves peacefully. I'll usually have different remixes of that song on my iPod when I'm sitting out on the beach or on the docks at my alma matter.
The other song I'd pick is Nayru's Theme from Oracle of Ages. It's such a lovely and mysterious melody and it's not often heard.

I remember the soothing cascade of sound that would calm me everytime I would hear The Wind Waker Theme. The long and beautiful strides of The Earth God's Lyric perfectly harmonized with the quick yet sensational up-tempo notes of The Wind God's Aria. It would be legendary if this theme was carried out through the use of an ocarina. I have been moved by this peice of musical art, but I would like to recreate this song myself. I cannot think of a better instrument to do this with than an ocarina, the most renound instrument in the Legend of Zelda series. This would be my reason for as to why I would play The Wind Waker Theme on an LoZ ocarina. Even if this Theme was not in the song book, it would be the first that I would learn to play!

I love Zelda a lot and I had gotten an ocarina before a couple years ago for x-mas, but it was broken by my brother. But as to which song I would play, Zelda's Lullaby is my favorite but I love all of them. Sara's Song was the funnest to play, Bolero was easy, but I most likly would try to play them all one right after the other and have a Zelda Music Concert.

If I were to have an ocarina…probably my first song would be Epona's Song. It's the first Zelda song I ever fell in love with. I remember the first time I played OoT and I was at the part where I had to sneak into Hyrule Castle and Malon was outside singing it…I'd stand there and listen to her all night lol. It's just so pretty and relaxed…
Then would be the Song of Storms, which I would also just stand there and listen to for long amounts of time. (I think I spent more time standing around than I did playing XD)
Then the Song of Healing, even though it always sort of gave me the creeps, it was my favorite from MM. And then the rest of the songs because I love so many of them heehee.

I just love all the music for the Legend of Zelda!!! I don’t know, there just seems to be something about it that moves me, and I notice that other games don’t do that. If I had to pick a song that I would want to be able to play would have to be a tie between The Song of Time, Zelda’s lullaby (theme), Epona’s Song, Saria’s Song, or the Song of Storms. They’re just so cool, and they sound great on the ocarina, and being able to own a OoT (or rupee) ocarina with the sources to learn the songs would bring the magic into a whole new type of reality!

I would definately learn pretty much all the ocarina songs from OoT and MM, especially Requiem of Spirit, the OoT title theme, and Sonata of Awakening. This is really cool, and that is the best Ocarina of Time replica I've seen.

First off, I'd like to point out the oddity of the songbook for the first prize saying as being for 12-hole ocarinas, while the rupees are six-hole ocarinas.
Secondly, as my entry into the contest, I would like to suggest learning to play the Song of Time. Among the many uses for it involve in case I ever have to move magic blocks around, or if the moon was about to crash into the earth.

I am so glad zeldauniverse had a review of ocarinas available on the market! I’ve just recently got realllllly interested in ocarinas and now I’m in the mode of buying one…when I saw your contest!!!

I really want to venture to Zanarkand and even try my hand at some Chrono Trigger songs like Peaceful Days

I would like to play the theme of Dragon Roost Island, that's one really awesome song to play on ocarina! The Wind Waker made some more really good songs to play on ocarina, but that would be my favorite

Ooh, I’m pretty sure I can play just about any Zelda song– I’ve owned a few chep ocarinas and have been able to figue out how to play them. Really though, it would be awesome to play the Song of Time on an OoT replica. =D

I would love learn to play the Karkariko Village theme and the Ballad of the Wind Fish on the ocarina. Those are my two favorite songs from all the zelda games. playing the ballad of the wind fish in front of the egg on the mountain was such a great moment when i was a kid, i had my ear right to the gameboy speaker to listen to that song.

Ideally I would like to learn how to play either the minuet of forest or balero of fire from OoT, but seeing as I have little to no existing musical talent outside of an occasional game of guitar hero which doesnt really count. These two songs sound best suited to the sound of the ocarinas ive heard demo'd on youtube and they are among my favorites as well

Seeing as I've never played an ocarina before, I'm pretty sure anything I would try to play would sound like a bunch of strung together, high-pitched notes.
I'd start with something more simple, so one of the first songs I'd try to learn would probably be the Song of Time, probably one of my favorite songs (although I say that about all of them). Sometime, I'd really like to play a song such as the Dragon Roost Island theme or Calling the Giants on an ocarina.

This could also be known as Oath to Order. I've been calling it Ode out of habit. I heard someone say it like that once, and I corrected them, but Ode just got stuck. I should have mentioned this earlier -_- Excuse my rambling brain.
Also, I thought of another song, which may be a bit late, but it's quite alright. (take my first one I just want to throw this out there) If possible, to play purely by ear, the song from inside the Clock Tower in Majora's Mask. I have them all on my iPod so I listen all the time :$

I love Zelda, its the most intricate of all puzzle/adventure/action games.
the lore behind it, the mysteries and the many secrets in the games,
I would play every song, they all have there own charm, If I had my hands tied though I would pick The Song of storms, just because of how free the song is as well as mysterious. I've been a fan since Zelda 2 & ALTTP, but just because I wasn't born during Zelda 1, Zelda is the game that keep people thinking, So I proudly Salute to the games of The Legend of Zelda.

If I could ever manage the skill, I would love to play the song of the Gerudo Valley. That would take the and patience to learn, and the dexterity.
I bought one of the original Ocarinas and I could play it quite well. It would only require a little more skill (and alot more practice) to play with this set.

There is no question at all -about which song I'd need to learn first. The most appropriate song to play with a replica of the ocarina of time is the Song of Time, of course. Naturally, Zelda's Lullaby is also a definate, being the first song learned in Zelda: OoT – and especially since that theme featured so wonderfully in the battle against Ganon's Puppet Zelda at the end of Twilight Princess, turning a beautiful song into an evil requiem…
