Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa recently sat down for an interview with business news website Nikkei and discussed several aspects of Nintendo’s current business strategy. He stated that cloud gaming services, like Google Stadia and Amazon Luna, were a “long way off” for Nintendo.
Nintendo is aiming to grow the population of people who play video games by providing fun, accessible experiences, with less of an emphasis on the latest cutting-edge technology. This can be seen by their move into smartphone gaming with games like Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes.
Despite not currently focusing on cloud gaming, Furukawa stated that Nintendo is always researching new technologies that can provide “something fun” for Nintendo customers.
