A Piece of Zelda History... Some people, a tad patronizingly, say that it’s just nostalgia; others say that it’s important video-game history. Perhaps, not too surprisingly, we join the latter view. The Zelda series has revolutionized gaming on many levels; the artwork is simply one definitive aspect. In retrospective, it’s quite obvious that gaming wouldn’t be what it is today if it weren’t for the great and innovative design work in the Zelda series. When we blow into the cartridge and put The Legend of Zelda into our dusty old NES, it’s at first hard to understand how impressed the gaming community was with the graphics when the game was released. Shigeru Miyamoto and the other people creating this fine piece of gaming history blew our minds away. From a modern viewpoint this might seem a bit strange. However, when examining the game further the picture becomes clearer - the weapons, enemies and other features present in The Legend of Zelda are also the same in even the most modern iterations of the franchise. The people behind Zelda have (almost always) been true to what they started in 1987. This image gallery is devoted to the artwork of Zelda throughout history.
