[Or] [ZuNo] Redwood

Well i have had this idea for awhile now and this just seems like a great way to get it written.

Its more or less about a Town plagued by these creatures. It takes place in a small town of Redwood. There are different points of views. I will try and make it as obvious as possible when the PoV changes. Its my first attempt at a story like this.

Feel free to leave comments.

Chapter One: The Run to Redwood.

A teenage boy, not older than fifteen, was racing down train tracks, that ran north and south. He was following it south. His body was long past his limits, yet he forced them to work. His heart was pounding like a crazed drummer, his lungs prayed for rest, and his legs threatened to cave in. He had seen what no person should see.
The summer’s night was humid. Nothing stirred but the running boy. The silence disturbed by his loud gasps for air and his occasional curse.. The sky was cloudless and a full moon hovered in the center of the sky. If it were any other teenage, he would have probably been out partying with his friends having a beer. If only this night did not contain the nightmares that chased him!

He stumbled on something and rolled a good distance. Pain exploded through his body for a second that seemed to last forever. He could not afford the delay! He slowly stood up and as he did he could feel the blood flowing free down his leg. Running his hand down his left leg he found a large gash. His face continued to sting, and he ran his other hand across it to access the damage, only a few scratches. He tried to run… but he could only manage a fast paced limp, only a fraction of the speed he was running at.
"Damn it!" he screamed into the night, "Why god! WHY! He continued to scream into the night sky. His body wanted nothing more then to rest, but every shadow reminded him of what was after him. He could easily picture them hiding in the trees and behind them. But it was not just what he saw that made him run, it was their ever constant breathing that he could not seem to run away from. It echoed through his head. His nose still seemed to be able to smell them… the sickly smell of rotting flesh and death. Just thinking about it made the boy want to puke, but to have the sensation of always smelling It was more then he could bare! All he could do was run and prey to god.

The boy found a place to rest. His mind wanted to continue, to get as far away from there as possible, but his body protested. Trees surrounded him on either side. From what the moon light showed him, some were dead while others continued to flourish. He got off the road to his right. Several times he went into the forest, and then out. All because he thought he saw some more of those… monsters. He found a fallen log not ten feet into the woods, and maybe fifteen from the train tracks. He sat with his back against the log. His legs sprawled out. There he gasped for breath. He wanted to sleep, but the Sand-Man would not come this night and even perhaps the rest of his life.
It was probably due to his bodies extreme exhaustion, but he found sleep, if one could call that sleeping. The sun was just beginning to rise in the east, giving the world a surreal feeling. It was perhaps the most beautiful sun rise he had ever witnessed. The sun was just barely visible through the thicket of trees standing only a few feet away from the train tracks. However the color it made was near impossible to miss. It was as if it was mocking him, that they saved the most beautiful for the day of his death…
His stomach pained him. It had been two days since he had a proper meal. No doubt all the running only increased his need for food, he would probably do anything for a Whopper at Burger King. The only thing he had to drink was water from a creek, almost two days ago. If he could not find food or more water soon, he might as well hand himself in to those monsters.
It was noon by the time he set his sights on the small town of Redwood. He could see a large white ware house. Not only could he see the building, but a group of people talking. Despite his limp, he seemed to almost run. Each step sent pain through his leg. soon he could feel warm blood trickle down his leg. his wound had reopened.

"Help! Please help me!" he screamed, and then his body gave in. Not able to gain his footing, he stumbled and fell to the ground with a sound of small rocks being displaced. He only hoped that they heard him.

"Hey Jim, look over there!" One of the persons said, "I think that guys hurt."
"What are you babbling about?" Jim asked, "Please no more wild stories." He sighed and took a drag on his Cigar and blew the smoke out.
"No, look! Can’t you see it?" The other person said pointing at the fallen boy. Jim looked towards where his friend was pointing and could see in the distance a boy, no older than his own son, lying face down on the tracks.
‘****, call 911!" Jim tossed his cigar on the ground and smashed it under his work boots. He then ran towards the fallen boy. Jim was of average built, and had a beard. He wore a flannel shirt and denim jeans. He arrived at the kid in a matter of moments, Turned him over to try and see if he was still breathing, but his chest heaved violently.

"Stop please! I don’t want to die!" the boy screamed with horror, "Just leave me alone!"
"Whoa kid!" the kid was now thrashing his arms violently. Jim could hear the ambulance in the distance when he finally managed to pin the kid down. "Hey kid, your safe." He tried to reassure him, but doubt he was even paying attention. He finally relaxed, but kept his eyes shut tight.
The EMT pulled up and got to work. One of them was Jim’s spouse, Lilly. Her partner was an old friend named Ted. Both dressed in the standard EMT medic uniform.
"What’s the situation?" She said in her clear calm voice. He had always admired her for her ability to remain calm.
"Greg over there, saw this boy collapse. Told him to call 911" he pointed over to Greg, who was now running towards them, "So I came running to see if he needed any immediate care. But when he kept swinging them arms of his. Had to pin him down." She signed and went for another cigar in his pocket then stopped. He had promised his wife he would quit. "Any ways, he thought I was going to kill him or something."
"Thanks and throw away that cigar." She said with a smile. They also had a bet, a bet he had lost. "
"Yeah, sure." He mumbled. "I gotta get back to work." He got up and began to walk back towards the Ware house.
"And throw away that cigar!" Lilly shouted out.

That got off to an exciting start. I like how you made your characters vivid without counting on a whole lot of description. I'm eager to see how this goes!
