[Or] Taking Back Roxoria

This is seriously the worst I've written in a while... But for once it's quantity over quality! w00t! *is happy* A bit of backround story about the story... Well, to start off with the name of the place, Zorolo came up with it... I wrote one quite similar last year, but found that I really didn't like it, but I thought that the ZuNoWriMo would be a good chance to rewrite and perhaps continue my story. Which I actually stopped at around the end of this post... >> It's quite UNoriginal, but of course, so am I! ^^

Taking Back Roxoria

Prologue:

With the simple wave of a hand, something inevitable happened. With the world on the brink of war, something beyond the control of man occurred. With a king abusing his unlimited power, only one course of action was left for the people of Roxoria…

To take back the country that was so rightfully theirs.

~ ~ ~

“Oi! Get back here!” A girl with dark brown curly hair was sprinting down the hallway of her high school. The large curls in her long hair bounced up and down as she ran. She was remotely tall with a light tan spread evenly across her skin. Her eyes were such a dark shade of brown, they almost seemed black. She wore fairly simple clothing, consisting of normal denim jeans, checkered converse, and a plain light blue shirt. On her back, was a small backpack carrying nothing but a sketch book. Her yelling was directed at a boy around her age, her age being 16.

This boy was slightly shorter than her, with vibrant long, wavy orange hair, deep hazel eyes, and a pale freckled face. He had a huge smile on his face, allowing his red colored braces to show. He was of a normal build, not muscular per say, but not wimpy either. He wore beige cargo pants and a plain red shirt. He wasn’t the most fashionable person, but he didn’t care about anything of the sorts. His long hair partially covered his gorgeous eyes, but that did not prevent him from running at full speed through the open corridors.

“Catch me if you can!” he yelled out. In his hands was a beautifully ornate pencil with the name Paige engraved on it.

“Daniel! Get back here with my pencil!” The curly haired teenager yelled after him.

“You have to catch me first!” The boy, obviously named Daniel, replied.

“No running in the hallways Daniel,” a very short woman wearing round black glasses on the tip of her nose emerged from out of a classroom. “Stop this instant or you’ll be picking up trash. That goes for you too Paige.”

Coming to a complete stop, Daniel wore a disappointed grin on his face. “Sorry Ms. Solares… I promise not to do it again.”

Once she’d caught up to Daniel, Paige stopped abruptly too. “I tried to stop him Ms. Solares…”

“Sure you did,” The woman that went by the name of Ms. Solares rolled her eyes in exasperation. “You’re both lucky I don’t grade you for your behavior at lunch.”

“Yeah…” Paige and Daniel said in unison. They walked away from their teacher with their heads hanging low, but as soon as they were out of her view, they burst into uncontrollable laughter.

“Oh! That was rich! We have to do that to Fickett!” Paige said, in-between laughs.

“Most definitely!” Daniel breathed out, tears were forming at his eyes from the amount of laughter escaping his body.

“It’s a shame that Renae, Mariah, Gabriel and Andrew are all too chicken to pull off any kind of prank... Even these meager ones… ” Paige sighed off the last of her chuckles and remembered how all of their friends had ditched them to go eat lunch.

Who needs lunch anyway’ Was their argument. Apparently, their friends needed lunch.

“Yup… That was fun, wasn’t it?” Daniel asked he handed Paige her sketching pencil and began to walk toward their usual lunching spot.

“The best prank we’ve done this week!” Paige said bearing a huge smile.

“Hah… Not to mention the only prank we’ve done this week. Did you forget that it’s Monday? Again?” Daniel asked teasingly.

“Oh shi-! It’s Monday? I thought it was Wednesday…” Paige looked off into the distance as though completely spacing out.

“You always think it’s Wednesday…” Daniel rolled his eyes and gave a slight chuckle.

“I do?” Paige slowed her walking and began thinking to herself. “Wow… I do.”

“Yeah, yeah, now let’s enjoy the rest of lunch with the lame scaredy cats,” Daniel said the last part just loud enough for a group of people sitting at table a couple yards away to hear him.

“Oh, shut up. We can hear you just fine,” Said a spiky haired Asian/Mexican boy.

“So, how’d the prank go?” Asked a blond girl, ignoring the Asian boy’s remark.

“It was awesome. You should have been there!” Paige exclaimed.

The 16 year olds had reached the round lunch table and sat down with their friends.

One of which was the Asian/Mexican boy. He has jet black hair that was relatively short. It was fashioned in small spikes. His eyes were a dark brown and he was abnormally tan. But that’s what he got for swimming and just generally living in California. He wore remotely baggy jeans, a loose jacket, a plain brown shirt and an empty backpack was resting over his left shoulder. Despite his lanky appearance, he was really quite muscular. His entire appearance made him seem quite laid back.

Beside him sat the blonde girl who’d spoken after him. Her dirty blonde hair was down to her shoulders and slightly wavy. Her light brown eyes were full of life and she had a soft smile. Her skin was a peachy color and she was of a short stature. She wore a pink shirt with bright little yellow flowers on it. Also sporting a short yellow skirt, her smooth pale white legs could be seen. On her feet, a pair of clean black and pink checkered converse shone brightly. One could tell that she was definitely into looking good.

On the other side of the Asian/Mexican boy was a wide eyed pure Asian girl. Her straight black hair was in pig tails that were resting lightly on her shoulders tied by two baby blue hair ties. Blue braces blinded all who looked at her, due to her always existent smile. Her skin was pale and fair, and her black eyes were always grinning along with it. By looking at her, you could immediately tell she was quite social. She wore denim jeans and a long dark blue dress like shirt on top of them, having two thin straps to hold it up. She had plain black shoes that one would see an adult wear.

Lastly, there was a lanky and tall Mexican boy. He had short brown hair and brilliant green eyes. His face was adorned with countless freckles and his mouth was in very normal position. He wore a black velvet top hat for no particular reason and a burgundy shirt. He had neat black dress pants and shiny black shoes. Someone might have mistaken him for a performer if not for his school nag draped over his shoulder. In all, he seemed like a jazz musician you could potentially find on the street playing for money. He had a small mustache and a very somber look on his face.

This group of friends was all so very close, they didn’t notice the very obvious differences between them… And in fact completely embraced them.

“You guys should stop playing all these pranks you know…” The jazz looking boy said softly.

“Don’t worry Gabriel… We hardly ever get in real trouble.” Paige tried to reassure him since he looked so very “emo”, but it was to no avail as the boy that went by the name of Gabriel kept his morbid attitude.

“Meh… Ignore him Paige. He’s an idiot…” The Asian/Mexican teenager said gesturing toward Gabriel.

“Ignore them both, they are both idiots.” Daniel said sighing.

“Hey, I’ll have you know that I didn’t flunk science last year!” The spiky haired boy protested.

“Oh, so one subject in a total of 6 per year? You are by far the dumbest Asian I’ve ever met Andrew…” the Asian girl retorted.

“Oh, yeah? Well… I’m better than you at basketball!”

“Lamest come back ever!” Said the blond girl, beginning to laugh.

“Mariah’s right… That was so lame… Just horrible…” Gabriel said quite sadly.

“Hey guys, shut up for a sec… I think I hear something.” Paige said, bringing an instant silence to the group.

Daniel was the first to break the silence. “I don’t hear anything…”

“Well, then, shut up…” Paige replied.

The orange haired boy was about to pout when he noticed something. “Is it normal for fire to be purple?”

“What are you going on about?” Andrew asked, looking up from the noodles he was eating for lunch.

The five teenagers turned to face Daniel, all in complete and utter confusion. All the shocked boy could do was point at the bush behind Paige. On it was a bright purple flame. It was crackling and burning as normal as any other flame would.

“WOAH! SOME GET SOME WATER!” Paige jumped away from the bush, as surprised as Daniel had been.

Andrew, being the least intelligent of them all, looked at the flame in awe briefly before actually walking toward it.

“Andrew? What the hell are you doing?” the Asian girl asked obviously fazed by the fact an uncontrolled fire was directly in front of them.

“I don’t know… But that flame is such a pretty color…”

“… What are you, a moth?” Paige said incredulously.

“Probably…” was all he replied before stepping into the flame.

“AH!” the group yelled in horror. But what happened wasn’t exactly along the lines of normal. Instead of burning himself, Andrew vanished almost out of thin air.

“What the…” Paige raised an eyebrow at the odd occurrence.

“Andrew!?” The Asian girl yelled helplessly, “We have to somehow help him!”

“I’d rather not… I mean, we don’t even know what happened. But you can if you want to Renae,” Daniel said nonchalantly.

The Asian girl named Renae looked at them with big sad eyes, “Please guys! He’s our friend… We have to figure out what happened…”

“Well… How about YOU step into the flame…” Gabriel said, getting tired of the whole situation.

A smile overtook Renae’s face and she happily exclaimed, “Of course!” So, without a moment’s hesitation, Renae leapt into the flame. The result was exactly the same what had happened to Andrew, the Asian girl was instantaneously gone.

“… It’s starting to get lonely…” Mariah pointed out,
“Heh… This is like… So random too! Like something out of one of those lame fantasy books! Or those cheesy Sci-Fi films! Something like this only happens once in like… Forever!” She seemed to be as giddy as a school girl and with the words “Ta, ta for now”, the blond girl had hopped into the now diminishing flame.

“Is it just me, or is lunch today seriously one of the weirdest lunches we’ve had in a while?” Gabriel said, now thoroughly perplexed.

“You can say that again… This totally beats that one time that Andrew did that one thing with that one lock… Hah, I don’t even want to remember how that ended up,” Paige began, “Even though, I must say, that had got to be one of the funniest days in my entire life.”

“Yup… Why don’t we walk into the flame? It could be our last chance as it is kinda burning itself out,” Daniel was now itching to see what the deal with the flame was.

Gabriel sighed and nodded, “I say we should… We can’t leave that player alone with Mariah and Renae.”

Paige chuckled, but couldn’t help agreeing with them both. “Definitely too awesome to pass up… But then again, what if they got sent to hell or something… I don’t think I’d want to follow them there.”

“Well, I think hell would be a slight improvement…” Gabriel said, now deep in his own thoughts.

“Um… Okay?” Daniel and Paige looked upon him skeptically.

“Let’s just go,” Gabriel got up from his seat and walked into the flame, not bothering to check if the others were following him. Like the others, he was gone, without even leaving a trace of his presence there a moment before.

“Well, while I don’t condone following trends, it seems that walking into purple fire is one that we can’t avoid for the life of us,” Daniel said extending his hand toward Paige. “What say you, partner in crime?”

“Undeniably,” Paige gave him a huge smile and took his hand. Together they stepped into the mysterious flame their friend’s before them had so foolishly entered.

In that instant, it felt as though their souls had left their bodies. They’d lost all consciousness and had not a single care in the entire world. But that blissful feeling was quite short lived. Her eyes, that Paige hadn’t realized had closed, opened to a place nothing like the lunch area she’d just been in.

Alrighty... Here is 2118 words of pure... Mehness. =)
