The Thread of Encouragement

This thread is here to see you through the month of writing. This thread should be used to comfort others on struggles with their writing, posting your word count to date, and any other misc. details.

Good luck to all, btw.

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

Ladies, gentlemen, writers of ZU-

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which you have striven these many weeks. The eyes of ZU are upon you. The hopes and prayers of literature-loving potential writers type with you. In company with your brave friends and companions, you will bring about the destruction of the dreaded Writer's Block, the elimination of mental tyranny over your oppressed creativity.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your word documents are well trained, well programmed and ready to take things out of context. They will fight savagely.

I have full confidence in your creativity and devotion to deadlines and skill in writing. You will accept nothing less than full Victory!

Good luck! And may you beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.

Be excellent to each other.
And PARTY ON, DUDES!!!

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

Just wanted to say that I've started. 1,150 words today. At first, I wanted to write an original idea that I've had awhile, but I spent most of the afternoon writing three lines. I really need to plan that idea more. There's no getting past that. So, I started a Zelda fanfic [Ff] on A Link to the Past and got on great with that. So there's the start of my story!

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

Today, I brainstormed possible ideas of the story. Which, I really should have done beforehand. Oh well, I have a vague story idea which I hope to expand over the next 30 or so days.

Good luck people.

I'm not concerned about running out of ideas on my story, but not having enough time to write... I have a very busy weekday schedule...

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

So yea... I may fine tune my second idea to incorporate Zelda characters... It seems like a good idea...

Haven't started writing... I work nights and don't wake up until like a half hour before my shift. Maybe start writing something tonight.

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

Crap.

I just started writing again about a half-hour ago. I was typing on a different computer than I'm used to. I typed a good 1000 words more for my story, And you know what happens? I save it to a floppy. I bring it to the only computer with Internet. I try to open the file. "The disk cannot be formatted".

I wonder if I can write it to a CD, so I try that. Of course, there's no such solution with my old old old computer that I'm typing on.

No printer, by the way, well, maybe I can install one...

I'm having no trouble writing, it's just the stupid technology that I'm writing with has a problem with me.

*grumbles*

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

^ Technological problems are annoying, so very, very annoying >>... I'm typing up my story on an upstairs Mac, and will have to go through a few steps before I have any hope of bringing it down to the computer with Internet. The connections by which I hope to essay this have been cut and confused and in all ways impaired before - I'm almost anticipating something dreadful happening during the month that'll hinder me from conveying my story around. But meh. Computer problems have always been overcome in the past and while I doubt the long-lasting efficiency of the solution, I do think everything at some point will run well.

Anyway, rather than confine myself and my story to the aforementioned Mac, I plan to use all computers at my disposal for writing. When I upstairs, I'll use my mother or little sister's computer, my own laptop downstairs (it was extraordinarily cold in the basement today, during class - I was brainstorming a few elements for my story and watching my fingernails turn blue at the same time... Oo). And of course, when class is done, I use my Mac, which has the outline for my story on it. (The outline's a treacherously messy thing. =P I wonder if I'll use it at all.)

I do hope to have up my story on ZU at some point. Yay...

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

Well folks - it's been a good start.

One thing I'd like to say to all the non-participants who might be hanging around; please, read and comment on the stories. Writing is a lonely venture; it's always good to hear from readers.

But if you are going to comment, remember to go easy on things like grammar, spelling and other mechanics.

Keep at it, folks!

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

Not quite the start I was hoping for.

I had hoped to have at least 10,000 words down by now, but preferrably around 15,000 -- a far cry from the measly 611 I have. I have no doubt whatsoever that I can complete the challenge, as I can write the required 30,000 over the course of a few nights when the mood takes me. Thus, my personal goal for this was 150,000.

So, a disappointing beginning to the event for me.

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

Don't worry, everyone has their ups and downs in CJ's.

I have to balance this with a research paper right now. I did a few segments yesterday to make up for the time I'm missing...

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

Argh. I have so much to write. >>

List of Things DT Needs To Write For:
-ZuNoWriMo (of course)
-RP with Sugar
-Battle with Lunchbox
-Next Part of Her Most Popular Story (Not on ZU)
-Next Part of Her Most Horrible Story (Not on ZU)
-Next Part of Her Barely Noticed Story (Not on ZU)
-Possibly a character fiction if possible

Plus school work. I actually have this big writing prompt thing to do tomorrow.

Meh, the only problem I honestly have is motivation. But it'll be okay. I already have 2,000+ words (which is a big acomplishment for me). =D

Re: The Thread of Encouragement

I've been having very serious computer issues. Sadly, my comp won't stay on longer than about 20 minutes. And I highly doubt I'll be able to finish my 2000 words a day goal at this rate... >> I'll still try my hardest, and my brother has promised me access to his excellent laptop, so on Saturday I shall go pick it up and start writing like a madman! Correction... Madwoman.
