New 3DS for E3?

Bigger screens, better grip, two circle pads, plkthx.

It would be awesome to have a 3ds XL lol

2012 is too soon for an upgrade. I think it'll come in 2013.

come on the 3ds only have one year how are they going to release a new model so soon

The DS came out in late 2004 and the Lite came out in early 2006. The span between them was only a year and a couple of months.

Meanwhile the 3DS has already been available for 14 months, so a 3DS redesign reveal at E3 is more than possible.

^But the original DS had numerous design issues - as in it looked really, really bad, was moderately heavy (compared to previous handhelds and later ones), had no light system that the successor had, and it had a horrible battery life.

The 3DS only has one of those.

Fix the screen scratching problem, and I'm game.

I also think a new 3DS model will be announced at E3. I think the differences will be:

1. Two analog sticks (one on each side)
2. Putting the left and right analog sticks Below the D-pad and ABXY buttons, respectively.
3. Giving the analog sticks more grip
4. Fixing the screen scratching problem
5. Longer battery life
6. Other minor changes maybe; possibly surface texture, button clickiness, slight interface adjustment maybe?

I'm hoping these will be the adjustments, and I think this is a pretty reasonable list. I bet this will be announced at E3 and will probably be released sometime between July - December. The price will probably be around $200 or so. Maybe $220 max. One more thing that I believe could happen, but I don't know how likely it is, is that maybe the new Zelda for 3DS will be announced at E3 and will be released around the same time as the new 3DS, maybe even a bundle version.

If there is going to be a new 3DS model, please please please let it have a longer battery life.

I have no problems with the current 3DS model, except for the battery life.

Whould it make such a big difference having the circle pads placed below the D-pad and ABXY buttons? And yes, longer battery life would be sweet. I like the glossy texture the 3DS currently has, and I really hope they won't change that!

I will definitely consider buying the new 3DS model if it has improved battery life and a low to reasonable price point ($160-$180). If I had purchased the original model, I feel like I would have sent the message that it's of good craftsmanship. Poor battery life makes me think it's far from that, so hopefully this 3DS model fixes that (at least 12-15 hours, please. Is that not too much to ask?).

Yes. Very much so, at least for me it does. Having the analog sticks above the D-pad and ABXY buttons feels really awkward and uncomfortable to me. I'm also fine with the texture, I just meant that was another idea that could happen.

You guys have a battery life issue?

my 3ds is fine, maybe you used it too much off the battery and the pack is getting work out or something?

As for me, I have no issues with it, I dunno what screen scratching problems there are but, I wouldn't want an update yet at all, the 3ds model is fine and has little to no problems.

I just want another Mario/Zelda game man

Try getting a brand-new DS and 3DS, charge them up to full and then leave them on until they go flat.

Then tell me which one dies first.

I really hate the 3DS' glossy feel. It's a huge step down from the amazing grip the DSi XL has.

To me, glossy and handheld just don't get along too well. Glossy finishes are fine on TVs and home consoles, but not on something being handled all the time.

I'd like a 3DS model with a matte finish.

Honestly, I would hate for that to happen.

The slide pad is far more used in 3DS games than the D-Pad, and the current D-Pad placement feels really awkward to use, having the stick in there would be terrible considering how often it gets used, the D-Pad is okay in there, as it mostly gets a more "secondary" use.

Yeah, the D-pad placement sucks, but the circle pad is more important. So it's somethhng we'll just have to live with, I guess.
