Re: ZU Meet-up Extravaganza: Let's get this thing going!

While I live in Rockhampton, I'll be in Brisbane anyways in August. August 2/3 (driving down on the 2nd, flying to Auckland on the 3rd) then I will return on the 12th, and possibly be there through to the 16th, depending on how much my friend can put up with me staying at his house
.
Also, as you may have guessed from the flying to Auckland part, I'll be travelling to New Zealand where I will meet up with Azzy. So it's like a New Zealand meet up as well for our lonely, sheep-fancyin' trans-Tasman cousins.

August is so far, bro. I like June/July or if it has to be further, September. :3

I'll be in Perth from June 27th to July 11th.

Re: ZU Meet-up Extravaganza: Let's get this thing going!

I could attend any Australian meetups. I think I live the furthest away from most ZU Aussies.

But it would have to be between mid June to mid July. Otherwise, I will have to miss so much of my university studies.

Plus, I'm having money issues, so there might be a higher possibility that I can't make it. :<

I'd love to meet everyone though.

I too have university. But I'm pretty sure I can attend any Queensland-based meetup, and may be able to attend others if I have a ****ton of warning!

Ok, so I just posted my thoughts on the British portion of the meetup.

As for a leader, I personaly think that just one person can't plan a meetup for an entire country. I think if we are going to do this, we need a 'brain trust' or 'think tank' formed of at least four british members who have been to ameetup before. We can pool all our ideas together on what makes a succesful meetup and show it to the community to see what they think.

Sound good? Yay or nay?

Looking at the map (which is incomplete), there should be enough Australians near each other for about 3-4 different meetups.

Queensland: Jema, Cambria, Pani, Bex are marked on the map. I know there's more around though - I think skate_mate lives there

NSW:
Holly, EA and Trinest are marked on there. Also I should be visiting there in the near future. :3

Melbourne:
Nickybo and Viral are marked on the map, but there are more like Sabbo

Perth:
Pani is going there to meet Jodd, and Chibimoon is also there

In the case of Australia, it's huge and sparsely populated so having one big central meetup would be a pain. There can just be meetups of 4 or so people centered around each major city.
Thank you for that organization, lady.

And yeah, Even the US wants to have several meetups to accommodate the people living there, and it's pretty densely populated by comparison. I think most of us would like to narrow it down to as few meet ups as possible, but having more and smaller meetups is the better alternative to having fewer people participate.

2-4 for Australia sounds particularly nice considering the cheap travel prices E_A showed us.

It shouldn't be too hard to narrow it down to at least two groups, flights are dirt cheap these days (I can particularly see Melbourne and Sydney joining up, $39 flights lols. Edit: Jetstar's holding a 2-for-the-price-of-1 sale at the moment, if people are willing to book early).
I'm jealous of the cheap price. An hour and forty-five minute flight this september would cost me something like $125 if I booked now. ~__~

Anyways, that makes it definitely appealing.

I'm willing to head up something for Australia as long as this doesn't happen during July. Sometime during August or September is best for me.
Alright, then expect to be called upon if need be. =D

=// Well, I don't want June because SoCal meetup is already set for June 20th, and we've got Canadians staying here for a while during that time. July maybe, but August is preferable so that the southern Californians can take some time to save up after their meet up.

September can't happen for me, though, so I'll just throw that out there.

It sounds like something in Queensland is probably going to happen. It looks like a good group of people are there.

Well, definitely that's fine. I mean, we're probably going to do several to make this whole thing easier, but if certain regions feel like they need more organizing, than shoot, no problem. Do whatever you think is best for your group. =3

It helps that 80% of our population lives in or around the Great Lakes/St. Lawrence. :3

I'll be attending this if I pass my driving lessons and test by this date, so I'd prefer July.

Of course one person won't be held responsible for everything. We just need someone organized at the head of the planning. To keep track of anything, finalize decisions. Things like that.

Well, the first problem is setting a date.

Actually, Eve, should I try to figure out an agree-able date? PM everyone, figure out who can come when, and who would actually be willing to go? (Give me the "okay" and I'll do that now.)

Yeah, August is best for me too. Or July. But June seems way too soon, especially since there's already a meet-up that month.

If the European meet-up is still going to work out, then have it in the Netherlands somewhere.

Mkay, PMed everyone. Anyone who wants a say in the date, PM me back.

Oh, if you're not on my list, please, PM me. Just say where you are and which dates over the summer(June-September) would be good for you to attend a meet-up.

After the first dozen people, it appears to be heading towards a week-end in August. But I'll keep tallying.

Hmm. A map would be helpful for locations. But I'm not smart enough to figure out Frappr.

I live in Connecticut. I'd be able to make it to a meet-up in the New York City or Boston areas (Though preferably NYC.

If the US East Coast meet-up is reasonably close to where I live I'll think about gracing you with my presence. (Reasonably near is, like, West Virginia or its neighbor states.)

Sure, let me just get my portal ready! Oh crap, you don't have a portal do you? Damn, this is gonna be a problem!

But honestly I would except:
-Plane ticket there would be too expensive.
-My mom would be like "Why the hell are you going to Sweden?"
