ZU Meetups suggestions
Hey guys, Kass here!
If you haven't guessed, this is where all the meetup organization happens. (But really, I hope you should because of that one thread already here. >_____>) Anyways! After having been in a few local and successful meetups, I figured some input may be helpful. First, and foremost: REMEMBER TO BE SAFE! A lot of the younger members may be restricted because of their parents' worrying. Remember that your parents are looking out for you, and yes, it is a scary world out there. You should meet in a public place. Coffee houses, parks, restaurants, conventions, etc. are all good places to meet. Asci's house, however, isn't. Make sure that whomever is meeting up is pretty well known around the site. Don't be afraid to PM somebody and get to know them first if it's a group meet-up, too. =) Second: A very easy and convenient way to get things planned is to exchange information, be it Skype, AIM, or even phone numbers (if you're comfortable). With those things readily available, communication is less restricted. =) Third: Organization is key! For group meetups, it may be easier to have one or two people manage it. For example, have a trusted member take charge of e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc and contact people in the time leading up to the event. Nothing says "We want you to come" more than a personal phone call! Fourth: Don't worry about resurrecting a dead thread here. If it's been a long time since it's been posted in, we won't jump down your throat for bringing up a dead thread. NOTE: That rule is only okay here because it's a special board. Do not assume bringing up a dead thread is okay elsewhere. Although, if you want to be most effective, you should probably make a new thread anyways.Fifth: Add yourself to the map! (You know, this one here) It'll make things much better. So, have fun! Meetups can definitely end in successful, long term friendships. Don't forget to share your pictures with us! =) Any questions, comments, concerns, suggestions?: Feel free to post them here. UPDATE!: If you set a date and location for a meetup and would like me to make it an announcement for the ZUMeetup Board, just let me know. =)

Re: ZU Meetups suggestions
Oh, and don't forget: Mix your own drinks!
![]() Good job on the suggestion thread, Kassi. :3 I think it's wonderful for people to read if planning to attend a meetup. But maybe another suggestion would to make the meetup public? Even if it's single, or group? That might be an obvious suggestion that doesn't need mentioning, but I'd thought I should anyways. It's seems like common sense, but there has been incidents where a meet up has been done in private and gone wrong.

Re: ZU Meetups suggestions
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we start a ZU Map of some sort in the past? If we can figure out where most people are located (US, Europe, Canada, etc...) then there could be more planning for meet-ups.
