Ohio Meetup! Ohayocon! January 30th to February 1st!

All right. Time to organize another meetup, kiddos.

There are a bunch of Ohio natives on ZU, which has just recently come to my attention as fact.

For examples: Zarah, lftenjamin, Margar+DearmondIV, and probably MORE!

So, as many people as possible from the midwestern area should Totally have a meetup! There's an Anime Convention going on if that's something y'all would like to do, but we don't have to.

Ohayocon will once again be taking place at the luxurious Hyatt Regency Hotel and the Greater Columbus Convention Center, located in the Downtown area of Columbus, Ohio. For special hotel rates, be sure to call and book early!

So, if anyone plans on going, post here, and we'll arrange some times to meet up there.

Getting a badge for the convention (needed to attend any events/panels or to get into the dealer's room, but not to get into any main hotel area/hallway, so you can still see costumed people and take pictures, so it's not absolutely necessary) will cost you the following amounts of money:

Oh lord I want in, and from my understanding (I've been keeping track!)

There are at least 8 or 9 people from Ohio, and a decent amount of people surrounding the area.

God I wanna go so damn bad, but I dunno if I can yet, I need to pan things out, and hope I have a job by then, so I can pay getting down there.

Why choose an Anime Convention Asci?! It's the only place I've never gone to before, and I don't think I would be welcome either way... And if it was around January or a weekend, and no convention, I would DEFINITELY be able to go... Because if my parents knew I was with a select group of people, they would be fine, and if I was in a whole convention, they'd freak out!

I need to learn how to drive god damn it... GET SOME MONEY PARENTS GAAAAAAAAH!

I'd come, as I live in southern Michigan, but, knowing my parents, they wouldn't let me because they think that everyone on the internet is out to get me.

Babez, it's got it all. People in incredible costumes, people in sexy costumes, people in hilarious costumes, a dealer's room (where you can find really rare merch, such as t-shirts, wallscrolls, messenger bags, figures, and of course, hentai), a **** ton of anime available to view, and plenty of panels to go to, such as Your Favorite Anime Sucks.

Ah, sweet. I live two hours from Columbus and my sister lives there!

I just need to get my parents to let me go. Even if I just say I want to go to the convention, I doubt they'd let me and there's no way they'd let me drive their myself.

I'll try and see if I can go. I mean, bus tickets should be cheap going out there. Even if I'm not the biggest anime geek, it'd be nice to meet-up with more ZU'ers.

Just letting you guys know: I'm not going to be spending the whole weekend with the ZU Crew. I've got my friends too, and a girl who lives in Ohio who I'm seeing for the first time since this same convention three years ago. So it's going to be up to you guys for the bulk of the convention to figure out what you want to do, not me.

Also, a possible way to avoid room costs is to find the con parties and pretend to pass out on the floor. Or actually pass out. Or just stay awake the whole weekend and pack everything you need in a backpack. Or just go one day. If you're doing that, though, come AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE so you can get in. And make it Saturday or you'll be ****ed out of half your day.

Do we all HAVE to go to the convention to meet up? I mean, wouldn't it make more sense for the people who want to go for the convention to do so, but those of use who are more interested in just doing a meetup pick something else we can do?

Then, we can arrange a bit of time where the convention AND non-convention goers can meet up for a couple hours? like for lunch and whatnot?

Personally, I have no particular interest in attending an anime convention, but I am definately interested in a meetup.

Good news guise. I'll be going to this little meet up after all. :D

What if...those who wanted to go to the convention went, and those who didn't all met up somewhere? And once the convention is over, then those who went could meet up with those who didn't.

I wouldn't mind taking those who went to the convention to the place where those who didn't are. I do have a wagon that seats 5, and I'm sure I can stuff some of y'all in the back
