The Grande Australie Meetup 2008 – Winter/June.

Melbourne 2008

This idea came mostly from the original planned “ZU Roadtrip” that was somewhat shelved indefinitely, at least for the next few years. The idea was of driving around to each of the major cities in Australia and meeting up with the ZU members as we found them.

Since then, we realised we lacked the proper funding to give that a go, instead opting for the 'traditional' meet in a single place at one set time.

Meeting place would ideally be a park, possibly having a picnic-y whatsit and then going to somewhere different.
EA has suggested that we could hire out an auditorium where we could play some video games. If anybody has any suggestions for such a location (or just a general location), please do suggest it to us

The main plan is at current to meet in a park for lunch with more details of any extra activities to follow.

Foodwise, EA and I will be bringing the important foodstuffs (which we'll discuss further a bit later) and if anybody wants to bring extra foods feel free to.
We'll also discuss money and any nearby shops as we get closer to the date.

As for the dates, we're aiming for late June (23rd - 28th, although according to the current ideas, it could be as early as the 16th.)

On more updated news, we'll be doing a few postcards for anybody that wants one, as well as taking calls for where in Melbourne to have the meetup. for those interested parties :3

Also a quick mention that the day preceding the meetup, there'll be a "Day-before racing frenzy" at where EA stays.

It should be noted, that what we've already got is the culmination of lots of planning amongst the AusZU chatgoers, what do you all think so far?

Assuming people agree on playing some sweet sweet multiplayer as part of the meetup, I have an import copy of Brawl if anyone is interested in playing that.

I'll see what I can do. Dunno if two trips in a year funded by my parents will make them very happy though, and sorry, the other trip > this one. Hehe. Otherwise someone should call me from there. :3

Ooh a meet up! Sounds like fun, particularly if gaming will be involved.

The funny thing is that neither I nor Shikt live in Melbourne, but don't give up yet: the location may well change to Sydney depending on feedback.

EA mentioned something in January next year. The chances of me being there are existent to probable.

January next year would be Brisbane, aye.

If 'tis to be in Melbourne, I shall try my best to be there.
