If I blog about bird watching will hunters exploit my info?- PLEASE READ & HELP

I decided to make my own thread for this because I want to get as many people as possible to give me opinions so I can make my decision off of the majority rule.

I have taken up bird watching this past year and have become quite passionate about doing it. I go on bird watching outings at least once a week in the countryside, a park, in the wild, where ever. Recently I have noticed I find the same species of birds in the same exact locations, so I now know what to expect to see when going to those places.

I now want to share my discoveries by starting a blog for other birders to read. In my blog I will make entries of where to find certain birds (exact locations) so that birders can more easily sight certain ones they've been wanting to see/watch/mark off on their check list.

However there is now a problem stopping me from doing this. A friend of mine asked me last night, "What if hunters/poachers use your blog to find those birds they've been looking for and hunt them?". I felt this was a very valid point and now I don't know what to do.

Most of the birds I'd be blogging about are small(passerines) and probably don't have people wanting to hunt them. However other birds, such a pheasants, grouse, quails, waterfowl and wild turkey, could be in danger by my blog.

So what is YOUR opinion? :

1. Should I not make the blog at all because you think there is a great possibility hunters will exploit my blog?

2. Should I only put those birds that are not usually hunted in my blog?

OR

3. Should I not worry about it and go ahead making my blog since you think the only people who would read it are other birders?

EDIT: I am not AGAINST hunting, but I don't want to make the blog to help hunters find these birds. That wouldn't be it's purpose and I'd be upset if that's what it turned into for some. It's purpose is to help birders, not hunters, find these birds.

I'd suggest number two, since I'm a more concerned type of person. But this depends on how many people read your blog. You would probably be fine talking about all of the types of birds, but I don't know. I've neither hosted a blog nor gotten into bird watching. I still stand with number two, just in case.

I vote number three. Why? If I was a hunter, I'd most likely try to find a hunting blog/forum for like minded people to talk to and trade information.

You shouldn't do #1 because the same argument could be made about anything else. "Should I give my son a laptop, but what if he learns some destructive things from the videos he watches?". "Should I start up a restaurant business? But what if people try to launder their counterfeit money through me?". "Should Forbes magazine really publish the highest paid people in the world? Doesn't that attract attention from robbers and thieves?".

Information is power. Yes people may use that power to their own advantage, but if you thought like that all the time, then you might be too afraid to step outside of your house.

You shouldn't do # 2 because then you'd be limiting yourself. Bird watching is a very calming and relaxing activity. Wouldn't you want to share to the other Birders where you've seen the bird sightings? In the end, you're spreading the known existence of these beautiful creatures, instead of just from what people can see from a book or comp screen.

Now if there's an animal that's on the endangered species list (or threatened to be on the list), then I'd recommend not to place it on your website. Once you've gotten to know and trust certain dedicated specific viewers on your blog (such as you've traded e-mails and have had long discussions about birds and you feel confident to say that they are in fact Birders and not hunters/poachers), then share the information to those trusted few (but don't publicize it to your entire blog).

Now, if you do decide to do #2, then might I also recommend you to place the locations of birds that you've found that are not in hunting zones. Of course some hunters (and especially poachers) don't care about the laws, but if a fellow Birder sees a hunter, he/she has the right to call.

Hmm I guess I'm partial. I'm between 2 and 3 (2.5). If the blog is going to be about birds in the area walk around, then you may very well notice the presence of hunters.

Thank you guys for responding.

BGS- There is a spot where hunting(as long as you have a license) is allowed where I've seen pheasants and quails, so maybe I'll leave stuff like that out? I mean it's probably already obvious to hunters that those birds are there. I don't know. Maybe I just shouldn't worry so much. Too bad my friend had to bring it up.

And of course endangered species will be left out, which I didn't even think of before you mentioned it.
