General Advice Thread

I know how you feel, I used to feel the same way senior year of high school and majority of me early teenage years.

Seems like a lot of teenagers go through it time and time again. Like some weird rites of passage or something. But remember, as already said. Things do get better. But at the same time it relies on you to make a change as well.

Try something crazy or spontaneous. Maybe that'll help, just as long as its not dangerous. Kung-fu helps me out when I feel like that.

Well, I drink.

But a more effective solution might be exercise. It's great to get those endorphins going. Really good for basic mood problems.

Do you have a hobby? If not, take one up. Fishing, playing video games, *cough*, working out, helping the community, or just doing what you like can help you get your mind off of it.

Do you know why you feel this way in the first place?

Quick question: is it okay to give tuna to my dog?

I have a few hobbies, and I do try to workout when I can, although I've been letting that slip lately simply because of my mood. Nothing really does seem to help, working out feels good for a tiny bit, but it tends to fade rather quickly.

I can't really decide for you since you and I may have different tastes. But maybe try taking up a musical instrument. But make sure you don't spend a lot of money or anything, just in case you choose not to continue.

Okay, so ever since I've joined, I've had this crazy nagging sensation to get a name change to Kris.

I'm still new to the site, but I feel like I've made a bunch of friends.

Should I change my name?

And if I do, in what section would I announce my name change?

There's typically a limit to how often you can change your name, and as you've recently joined, I'm not sure you'd be able to.

But I guess just the community thread would be the place to announce.

Well, yeah, every 6 months.

I wouldn't really be surprised if you get a freebie when you first join, because a lot of times people screw up when making an account.

I changed their name.

Not to sure if this is really advice. But just wanted to spread the word.

I would prefer this to be answered by UK/English citizens, simply because there are culture differences and rules and whatnot, but I'll still value any advice you guys have for me.

I really want to get a job. However, I don't turn 16 for a month and I don't have a CV yet. I don't know how I would go about making one or getting one, should I go to ConneXions? When can I start applying for jobs?

I've looked, mostly on the internet, for jobs in my local area but there seems to be nothing but full-time apprenticeships, which I can't do because I'm going to college next year and quite frankly I care very little about getting a qualification in Customer Service, as I have no plans to work anywhere in that industry.

I am not one of these people.

I need to get this lid on this shoe box to stay upright. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do it? Bare in mind I have access to very limited supplies. So no metals or anything expensive! So far I've tried cellotaping it at the creases so it can't bend, that didn't work, I then ran out of ideas so I thought I'd ask all of you.

Adding "bracers" from the top corner of the lid to the corner of the bottom?

If you have wire coathangers and some snips you can use that?
