Awards FAQs

For those just starting out at ZU, he is a list of questions frequently asked about what the awards are:

What are the ZU Awards?

Like any award, they are something given out to a member worthy of the title. Unlike any award, they are usually weird awards like Most Perverted. There are some related to Zelda, as this is a Zelda forum, after all.

When are they held?

Currently, they are held twice a year. One is in the Summer, while the other is in the Winter. The dates to which they are given out is up to the discretion of the moderator in charge.

Who is the person in charge of the awards?

That would be me, James. I am the one in charge or coordinating the entire award forum. However, due to my lack of banner maker skills, the banners handed out are made by another member. The first to help me was Mercutio, a member who has long retired from ZU. After him sea did one session, and then it was Yami, who helped me out until the Summer of 2006. Currently, Eros is helping me out until he says he has enough.

Who can be nominated?

We have the awards in the Summer and the Winter. We try to have it so that anyone who has been active since the last awards until the newest awards can be nominated. Those who are the best candidate for the award, who shown it in the 6 months in between the award sessions should be nominated. If someone hasn't been active for a year, you really shouldn't nominated them. Those who post once in a while shouldn't be nominated as well.

How do the awards work?

First of all, to ensure new spice with every award session, I open up a suggestions thread to begin with. Stale awards are given the chance to be booted, while fresh ideas for awards are given. It is, however, my opinion to which an award is added or not. Then, we nominate people for an award. Simple enough, threads for all the awards to be given out are opened and people have a chance to nominate anyone worthy of the title. Then, after people are nominated, people vote to who they see as the best in each category. Usually, each session of the awards last a week, sometimes shorter. Usually, when people stop suggesting/nominating/voting, it's time to move on. I then calculate how many votes each member got and announce the winner and runner up. They then have the choice of using the banners made for each winner in their signature. That's the gist of the awards.

How do I become active in the awards?

Well, for now, I am fine with the way things are run with me running them. You can be active by participating! Suggest awards, nominate people, and vote them into the award they deserve.

I tried making a new thread in the awards forum, but it wouldn't let me. Why is that?

Since people were creating threads for no reason in this forum, we decided to stop that. Therefore, only those with the privelege (aka Mods) can create a thread.
