Ganon's Goal in TP?

He wants to rule Hyrule. That's pretty much all there is to it.

In most games, he always wants to rule Hyrule.

His whole "merge light and shadow together to create darkness" shtick is just him metaphorically phrasing "Conquer the Light Realm and the Twilight Realm and make it into my Dark Realm," AKA his Empire.

I find this theory unlikely with ganon all smart and all he would kill zelda not keep her alive.

Zelda DID die, though. But he kept Zelda's body on hand in the hopes that he could use it to kill Link. He probably thought that Link wouldn't hurt Zelda and be killed or kill Zelda, and since he had never encountered the Master Sword on that timeline, he underestimated it's evil-repelling powers.

And I bet he kept her body for other reasons...
