Re: Master Sword Grove vs. Lost Master Sword- A Link to the Past Placment Debate!

This is exactly my point.

BS LoZ...The VC description.....this all adds up to one conclusion: LoZ came before ALttP.

Well, that pretty much screws up my timeline. (Or, at least it would, if this was 1998)

Only LoZ.

If I were you I'd place it after PH...

If I did that, I would have to explain why Ganon was in the Dark World prior to LoZ. Come to think of it, I don't explain it on my current timeline, either. I have some work to do.

Re: Master Sword Grove vs. Lost Master Sword- A Link to the Past Placment Debate!

However, as far as I can tell, the Japanese VC does not say this (beware of bad online translation):

Quote:
February 21, 1986, the first disk system software was released as The Legend of Zelda bullets, as was well received at the time as a breakthrough full-scale action adventure. Link is a boy swordsman, fight enemies while collecting triforce various non-gadget Mezashimashou to overthrow Satan.

冒険の舞台は広大な「地上」と、そのあちこちに点在する「地下迷宮」の2つに分かれています。
さまざまな場所を旅してアイテムや情報を集め、地下迷宮に挑んでトライフォースを見つけ出しま しょう。
Stage is a vast adventure "ground" and scattered around the "underground labyrinth" is divided into two. Collecting items and information to travel to various locations, challenging the Triforce見Tsuke出Shimashou the underground labyrinth.
Source and source.

And then there's this image, which I have no clue as to what it reads:

Maybe those wonderful translators at LA could help give us a hand.

Not if this is only for original intent.

Either way, his spirit technicall does escape from hell or a Maki which is mentioned in TWW so it's not much of a stretch to say that Hell/Maki was translated as Dark world.

@Roc thul-er-Jarsh: The Jap descriptions of all VC games only focus on gameplay, not story.

Yet, Ancient Stone Tablets makes sure that the Legend of Zelda comes after A Link to the Past. This is why I ignore non-released remakes, but I do listen to the games that would have been released.

We should focus on the two most recent things: Twilight Princess references A Link to the Past, The Wind Waker references The Legend of Zelda, and Phantom Hourglass references The Adventure of Link.

In the adult timeline, there is no longer a Master Sword.
In the child timeline, the Master Sword was left in the grove.

In The Legend of Zelda and The Advetnure of Link, there is no Master Sword.
In A Link to the Past, the Master Sword was found in the grove

In The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, referneces were made to The Legend of Zelda and The Advetnure of Link
In Twilight Princess, references were made to A Link to the Past.

I myself see far too much discontinuity between The Legend of Zelda and A Link to the Past: one has the Master Sword, the other doesn't; Ganon was sealed in A Link to the Past and then unsealed and killed, Ganon was already free and killed in The Legend of Zelda, not sealed at the end.

The way I see it is that Ganon in A Link to the Past is the reincarnated Ganon from Four Swords Advetnures who died in Twilight Princess. The Ganon in The Legend of Zelda is the lingering spirit. Twinrova, coming back for the swore revenge mentioned in Ocarina of Time, has something to do with Ganon's appearance in The Legend of Zelda.

Even so, I'm still curious as to what that image I posted says. Damn moonrunes.

If I recall correctly, they already translated that. The Japanese VC does not say that Ganon broke free of the Dark World.

Pinecove, this issue has been covered numerous times before. The LA translators extensively went over FSA and discovered that the Trident did not house an evil spirit; it was merely called an evil tool. I can provide the links if you want.

Wrong.
AST makes sure that BSLoZ comes before it. It implies the opposite.

Yes but then we have to take the references between TMC and LoZ and OoX into mind.

Whoops.

Sorry let me rephrase that: The Trident housed some sort of evil power (possibly Ganon's) which would have attracted Ganon's soul.

Re: Master Sword Grove vs. Lost Master Sword- A Link to the Past Placment Debate!

People go on about the Oracles happening after the SNES games on the adult timeline, Ollathir finds evidence for them to happen before Ocarina of Time... Narushi find reasons for the Four Swors series to happen before Ocarina of Time, I find reason for their child timeline placment (excpe tThe Minish Cap), others find reason for an adult timeline placment...

In the end, there is too much evidence for multiple placments, so I go by what I think si right and makes more sense.
