TP Forest Temple=Deku Tree?

Why not?!

It's a tree, it's hollow.

It's big enough. It looks dead, (no leaves I recall)
there is a little hole in the cliff next to it leading to the Sacred Grove. (Could have been the entrance to Korkiri Forest)

I know it sounds crazy but just think.

Re: TP Forest Temple=Deku Tree?

You based this thread on my similar one concerning Saria's Grove and the Sacred Grove, yeah? >_> I hope so, because then I feel special. :]

And I always thought Kokiri Forest was the poision area in Faron Woods, but I never got a chance to notice a hole near the enterence to the Sacred Grove. As I recall, the Lost Woods enterence was near Kokiri Forest, so... that hole could be the closed-off enterence to Kokiri Forest. Ugh, I dunno! All I know is that the dead Deku Tree, Lost Woods, Sacred Forest Meadow, and Saria's Grove all appear in Twilight Princess. Kokiri Forest sould be an area at least near by the dead Deku Tree...

Re: TP Forest Temple=Deku Tree?

Lord these things never end.
Why won't anyone use their eyes anymore? The TP Forest Temple isn't a big tree, it's a large collection of big trees. We see dozens more when outside the temple, there are probably hundreds.
So far as I see the biggest reason people believe this temple was the Deku Tree is because it's the largest tree in the place.
Except it's just one type of tree which is common in that area of Faron Woods, and since no tree came close to being the Deku Tree's height in OoT it makes it doubtful they're the same.
And of course you'd need to explain why;
- the tree isn't grey, what with the curse and all and
- it doesn't have a face.
What's more there's no compelling evidence to show that the Sacred Grove is the Lost Woods.

Actually, it's a collection of big trees inside the hollowed out trunk of a larger tree.

No, we quite clearly exit the first tree, cross some bridges over some ridges, then enter a few other trees.

Re: TP Forest Temple=Deku Tree?

While the tree certainly is huge (despite the fact of however many trees it's made out of), there is not a whole lot of evidence to verify that it would be the Great Deku Tree. And if that was indeed the case, you'd have to explain why it's sitting in a giant crevice.

Very good^

The surrounding area looks nothing like Kokiri Forest, so you'd have to explain why that is.

Re: TP Forest Temple=Deku Tree?

Well, I always thought this to be true. For starters the Deku symbol is in every door of the FT in TP. Second, the temple is an abnormally huge hollowed tree in the depths of the forest.

Remember the GDT wasn't exactly in the main area of the kokiri forest. It had it's own private meadow.

Have you noticed that they re-used some of the concepts from Ocarina of Time? It could be that they just got lazy and didn't want to think up a different symbol?

If the Forest Temple = GDT, where's the surrounding meadow?

Re: TP Forest Temple=Deku Tree?

I think it could make sense. Not that I believe one way or another. Maybe, in a TP style of doing things, the Great Deku Tree looked significantly different, and didn't have a face. Maybe a voice would have just come from deep within the tree. But then again, there was a Deku Sprout and the Deku Tree was reborn, so that would have to be accounted for. Just remember that things look different in every game and we shouldn't strictly rely on geography and landmarks when making conclusions about game connections.

Once again, many many other huge hollowed trees, which are nowhere to be seen in OoT.
And way to provide evidence against your stance. Not only does the Kokiri symbol never appear inside the Deku Tree, but the idea that the Kokiri would subsequently further hollow out his body and add the symbol and other contraptions is laughable as it is effectively desecration of a diety's body.

So in closing- Yeeeoooow!

Re: TP Forest Temple=Deku Tree?

I think more probably it's the equivalent of the Forbidden Woods from TWW (which had similar doors).

Note that the "big tree" doesn't have a face.

well lets remember where probably not talking about the deku tree, but about his sprout at the end of OoT. And that forest's grow.

Re: TP Forest Temple=Deku Tree?

If the TP FT is the OoT GDT, then I have a possible explanation for its missing face and lack of height:
Natural decay over the course of 100 or so years probably caused by bacteria and/or fungus.
Also, we only see (at least, I've only seen) the GDT's Sprout in the AT

I am very strong with belief in this one. All the geography seems to fit, and there are no faults to it. I also think that Kokiri forest may even be Ordon Village. And the Sacred grove where the Master sword is, is Saria's grove. I just don't understand how the Temple of Time got moved from Castle town to the forest. How did that happen?

Re: TP Forest Temple=Deku Tree?

I personally think that the Forest Temple is the Deku Tree, but it was made by the Kokiri who later evolved (not sure if that is the right word) into the monkeys.
