Spirit Tracks Timeline Placement Announced?

Do we dare trust Gametrailers?

Well like I say in the article, it makes sense, but he doesn't cite a source or anything.
Hard to say...
Good to see you, by the way

Yeah, it makes sense from what we've seen, but... Zelda has a way of... not really deciding where it is on the timeline, no matter what it looks like.

Although my first instinct says that Spirit Tracks is after WW/PH, I don't want to make judgment one way or the other until it's released.

Likewise.

Re: Spirit Tracks Timeline Placement Announced?

Ehh I think most people expect it to take place after PH (and I must say, even though I place games on the CT, I think from what we've seen right now an AT placement is the most likely. I'm actually a little afraid I might have to pull a Pinecove and switch my timeline around ): )

I don't trust Gametrailers, but I'd say that the timeline placement they're talking about is definitely the most likely.

Re: Spirit Tracks Timeline Placement Announced?

Gametrailers shouldn't be trusted on anything. I'm putting my money on an AT placement, but I won't confirm it until the game comes out or a Nintendo official states it.

Re: Spirit Tracks Timeline Placement Announced?

However, I see a problem with putting this game on the AT; In WW & PH, the land of Hyrule is underwater, Trains mean it would have to take place on a large landmass, MUCH larger than any island seen in WW/PH. I'm not saying that it CAN'T take place on the AT, but the way I see it, it's very unlikely.

Re: Spirit Tracks Timeline Placement Announced?

Considering that we only have two trailers to work with, no understanding of the plot, and the fact that Nintendo can change things at any time, I think it's silly to even try to determine the timeline via Spirit Tracks at the moment.

Re: Spirit Tracks Timeline Placement Announced?

I agree with Average Gamer.

Although the only real piece of story we have is that you control a Phantom. And Phantoms are only confirmed to appear on the AT... which is interesting.

Keep in mind, however, that before TP it seemed as though Darknuts may have only been on the Adult Timeline. We really shouldn't be making rampant guesses.

Wow, you managed to both ignore the topic of the thread, and make a blanket statement about a game with two trailers that no one has ever played in one sentence. Go you.

Darknuts, unlike Phantoms, were never central to the plot or gameplay. They've gone to enough effort to at least change the design a little bit; the Phantom doesn't have the "hourglass" emblem on its shield, for instance (even though Link still has a crawfish on his).

I was just giving an example based off of something I recalled seeing. Also, seeing as how Bellum, the apparent creator of the PH Phantoms, died in PH and his minions presumably went with him, the source of this figure in ST is completely unknown.

At this point we truly know nothing. I think that trying to guess things at this point in time is useless.

Although, PH was in an alternate universe, wasn't it AG? ;D

The Ocean King's realm did have a strange time flow and apparently was a place that people from the Great Sea weren't supposed to visit.

Like I said before, I believe that theorizing via ST at this point will amount to nothing.

Re: Spirit Tracks Timeline Placement Announced?

What if the Phantom was given to Link by the Princess?

Oh and I like to see the Ocean King realm as a sort of "Bermuda Triangle" of sorts.

Back on topic, Game trailers is a pretty unreliable source but damn it if it doesn't make sense

Re: Spirit Tracks Timeline Placement Announced?

Upon a second viewing of the video I've made the following observations...

-Link has a companion on the train with him (posted by mel first) that warns him how much damage the train can take, blow the whistle, etc.
-Seeing the table that was being played on it has a screen shot of Link and the phantom face to face (perhaps indicating a small cut scene in which every time you enter a dungeon you meet up with it)
-Another interesting point is that in that very same screen shot there is a white line pointing to both Link and the Phantom (indicating possible bio's for the characters....)
-....Indicating further that the info on the phantom was probably not just insight but was actually displayed there to read.
-....If that was the case they could have easily read the "100 years" part off the table (seeing as there is info on basic such as moving and attacking)

Speculation? Yes.

Re: Spirit Tracks Timeline Placement Announced?

Or they could have just been making it up. They are Gametrailers after all. It's also pre-release, and nothing is set in stone until the final version. TP was supposed to be a prequel to TWW, remember?
