With ganondorf sealed away they had no male gerudo to mate with. If they wanted to stay alive they had to mate with Hylians. After so much Gerudo/Hylian interbreeding, the gerudo would be no more abd only hylians would remain. Think of a gerudo mation with a hylian. That results in 1/2 a gerudo. then thatchild mates with a hylian. then their child mates with a hylian etc etc. see what i mean?

After killing Kalle Demos and saving Makar, King has you sail to Greatfish Isle. It's expected to be like the previous two, but when you get there, everything is raining and it's night. Instead of a community focused around the local demi-god, like Dragon Roost or Forest Haven, you find destruction. King asks himself what has happened, implying it wasn't always in ruins. He then says you're too late. Between him and the postman, it's basically been implied that a people who worship a Jabu-Jabu-with-a-namechange have been killed. At least, I remember something like that. Then we learn Jabun relocated himself to Outset.

Who were the people living on Greatfish Isle? Were they the Zoras? Which means that the main reason you don't see them would be that they were all killed before the game. Or within the first two dungeons. But you see what I'm asking, right?

wow that is indeed a very good and legitimate idea. Just my main concern was with the zora's and I would have to agree that maybe the inhabitants on greatfish isle were indeed zora's. Although this idea is based solely on opinion, I believe it fits the puzzle perfectly!

Lord Pacci, the Gerudo don't mate with male Gerudo all the time, a gossip stone implies them to be able to mate with Hylians and not dilute the gene pool. (there's a name for this kind of reproduction in which an only female species mates with the male of a similar species and the egg separates the genes in vitro to make sure the product is 100% the mother's species... can't remember it though, some salamanders do it...)

That's what I thought originally thought. I dislike the idea of the Zora "evolving" into the Rito, I think there was some sort of divine intervention, perhaps by Valoo. They could also be the ancestors or decedents of the Wind Tribe, depending on where you place TMC.

Aonuma stated that the Zora did evolve into the Rito.

Of course Valoo was the cause. They can't grow wings without one of his scales after all.

Jolene from PH actually reminds me of a Gerudo

I'm sorry if I am breaking of the Rito discussion but I have proof that the hylians did evacuate to the mountains. Tetra would not be Zelda if the king hadn't ordered the evacuation.

The royal family could easily have protected themselves without ordering an evacuation among the commoners.

Here's my Zora theory, there are three groups of Zora's, the first group stayed in their ancestral home and to prevent them from discovering hyrule the goddesses caused them to change into the rito. Another group fled after the flood and split into two more groups, the first became the violent river zora's of the 2D games and the second remained peaceful this gourp appears in OOA.
I'm between timelines right now but this is the theory that explains it on my original timeline.

I still don't see enough to prove that the Zora became the Rito. I'm sorry to say but Aonuma's quote is kind of dubious...

Doesn't he specifically state the Zoras became the Rito?
My theory prefectly explains how this could happen and yet we still have river zora's in the 2D games after WW.

If I remember well, he doesn't say that with those words. He just says something about making the rito successors of the zoras in the game...

Look for a user called Erimgard- I think he has the thread with the translated inverview where Anoume clearly says that the Rito were created as the evolution of Zora.
