Phantom Hourglass in OoX?

Let me just start by saying this is wild speculation, and there's no actual in-game proof. (as far as i know)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4_V7...layer_embedded

This commercial for the Oracle games depicts an hourglass. Could this mean the Phantom Hourglass is related somehow?

The inside of the chamber also resembles the TotOK quite a bit

(We should have a "Wild Speculation thread" for this kind of stuff lol)

Re: Phantom Hourglass in OoX?

Well, maybe Nintendo used the hourglass from that commercial as the Phantom Hourglass in the game they created so many years later

They could've used it like that to place another link between the various games.

The Hourglass itself doesn't appear in the Oracle games, yet they've given it quite a bit of screentime in the commercial.

Re: Phantom Hourglass in OoX?

I think that hourglass is just indicative of time travel, nothing more. They used an hourglass to indicate past vs. present in the game itself.

First off, that is my favorite Zelda commercial

Secondly, I agree with Artemicion, the hourglass (and the sand inside) is just showing a physical manifistation of time moving backwards. The tower Link stands in looks to be already old, so it's sorta hard to show it "getting younger" so they did it by showing the sword being restored and the sand in the hourglass going back to the same portion.

It's an old gimmic directors use to simulate time going backwards. Other ways are the hands of the clock spinning backwards, rain "falling" upwards again, people walking backwards, a mountain of rubble turning back to it's original form (like a house, etc..), the sun & moon spinning in the sky, the changing of seasons, etc...

I hope that has answered your question.

The Second Essence in Oracle of Seasons is an hourglass shaped relic called the Gift of Time. Other then that I think it just symbolizes time travel.

Re: Phantom Hourglass in OoX?

Hourglass just there to clarify that time rewinds. The hourglasses don't look alike and the one in this commercial doesn't even have any powers of any kind, it's just an hourglass

Re: Phantom Hourglass in OoX?

There's also the hourglass that indicates the Age in OoA, but none of the mentioned glasses have abilities like the PH. Also, did anyone notice the MS in that commercial?

You're right, the Hourglass was shown to indicate which time period Link was in. One with a wooden plaque in the past, and one with a (what looked to be) metal plaque in the present.

Yes, and the MS is in the game (along with the BGS & Bombchu), however I think it only has a cameo there because of Ganon. It is possible to defeat Ganon (in OoX) without the MS, instead you'll be using the Noble Sword. Because of the password system, I think we shouldn't treat the MS in OoX as canon.

I don't personally find the OoX MS to be canon, but I thought it was interesting that in the commercial, the sword appeared to be more red and gold than blue, indicative of a LttP connection.

edit: but I'm guessing commercials aren't canon. Even so, why would they base the design off the 1991 model rather than the much more recent OoT model, if so many other OoT references are made in the game?
