Tree at Lake Hylia

So, if you look at the dead old tree on the island on Lake Hylia in OoT (don't have a screenshot, sue me) you'll notice three slash marks on it. Were these put here for a reason? Was it something the developers were going to use but left out?

Comon belief is that they are Kaepa.....Kapea Bo......... The giant Owl that flies you around's claw marks. Sorry i forgot how to spell his name

Seriously, though, the most likely thing is that

a) it was was clue to something to developers forgot to put in (or a very well disguised clue!)

b) the developers put it in to make us go crazy about it like now XD

It was so obviously Kaebora Gaebora.

The Owl doesn't make diagnal claw marks. Of corse it was Dark Link.
