Kokiri Forest: The Source of Life?

"Navi... Navi, where art thou? Come hither. Oh Navi, the fairy, listen to my words... The words of the Deku Tree... Dost thou sense it? The climate of evil is descending upon this realm. Malevolent forces even are now mustering at attack our land of Hyrule. For so long, the Kokiri Forest, the source of life, stood as a barrier, deterring outsiders and mantaining order of the world. But before this tremendous evil power, even my power is as nothing. It seems the time has come for the boy without a fairy to begin his journey. The youth whose destiny it is to lead Hyrule to the path of justice and truth. Navi, go now! Find our young friend and guide him to me. I do not have much time left. Fly, Navi, fly! The fate of the forest, nay, the world, depends upon thee! "
-Great Deku Tree

Look at the bold line. The tree says "source of life". That would suggest the living beings of Hyrule came from the Kokiri Forest, which would make sense, considering Farore is associated with forests and created life. Now the Kokiri? They're spirits of the forest, so don't mind them. Hylians coming from there make sense, if the forest really is the source of life. But wait a minute. How do we explain the Gorons and Zora? Did they come from the forest? Doubtful.

What does source of life mean anyway?

There's a seven year gap between the time the Great Deku Tree dies and when Link lifts the cures on the Forest Temple allowing the Deku Tree Sprout to grow. I don't know about you, but I see a lot of people living in Kakariko before going to the Forest Temple.

Re: Kokiri Forest: The Source of Life?

When The Deku Tree explains the world's creation by the Goddesses, we see Farore making grass and stuff grow on the red earth, which turns into Kokiri Forest.

I think it just means that it was the source of the first kind of life. Or that everyone was born there, and decided to migrate to more desirable places.

I agree with that, Kokiri Forest was just probably the first place that life was created, not that all life started there, never thought about this.

ah yes but the baby deku tree was sprouting but still in the ground those seven years then when you beat the forest temple it completely is out of the ground although it does take a tree to grow about fifty years

"Forest=source of life" and "Forest mantaining order of the world"
are true also in the real world, i don't see nothing strange.
The forest is part of one important ecosystem in the planet, the forest produce oxygen, the animals and plants that live in the forest are very important to the order of the world.

Great. "Which game first? The tree or the sproutling" question in the Zelda theorizing boards....

That's perfectly normal in the real life ecosystems.

Forests are the first nature bound areas to sustain the most organisms in the world.

But don't forget that oceans come first before forests, Zelda or not.

^^^ I don't think any god or religious beliefs matter much here. But I see what you mean.

But jut saying that there is more organisms in oceans than what you would find in a forest.

Does first kind of life mean the forests or the first generation of Hylians or both?

I don't think so. Farore without a doubt created the Hylains. The Deku Tree created the Kokiri. Then again...
