An FAQ guide on the MS

There seems to have been some debating on the MS recently (done mostly like me Skylark and the Sheikah) so I thought I'd clean up the mess.

Is the MS in OoX Canon?
Yes and there's been a whole topic on this.

Who can use/hold the MS?
Anyone can hold the MS (unless they're evil) but the MS will choose who draws it.

Is the Sword in ALttP compared to TWW TP and other a re-design?
This is a troubling question. In the origanal ALttP for the SNES the MSs hilt was red. Upon re-playing the end of ALttP for the GBA though it seems to be blue. We need more evidance on this topic before we can jump to conclusions though.

Is the hilt enchanted?
The hilt does nothing to the sword but when placed on the blade it may or may not become enchanted. As I said before we need more evidence on the MS. If anyone could find a link to the origanal ALttP ending on the SNES that would be apreciated.

Not sure how much it means to you guys, but in WW, (after beating Jalhalla, I think) when Link regains some of the Master Sword's power, the hilt reacts to the restored magic by pushing two ridges outward as seen here at 5:23. YouTube - Zelda: Wind Waker - Jalhalla boss fight

Ah well then it proves my theory. The hilt becomes enchanted when it touches the blade.

Looks all blue just 4 the poor graphics of the SNES, the master sword hilt have more blue than red color. thats the reason .

But the hilt of the MS from ALTTP is blue with red.



But the color means nothing, at least is the MS. but in OOX isnt the same MS from OOT-TP-WW or ALTTP(I mean, isnt the MS from the same chronology).

We have three diferent MS from three diferent chronologys:

-The MS from the clasic chronology(ALTTP)
-The MS from the modern chronology(OOT-TP-WW)
-The MS from the Oracles chronology(OOS/OOA)

Look Smallville Boy, we all know about your micro-chronology theory. Thing is, none of us care.

My question is, why is every picture of the alltp MS different.

In game = blue
art = silver and red
game logo = blue and red.

I see you people are still wondering about a simple design change huh.....

oh well, I should probably leave before people start calling me stupid.

You forgot the MS from the art of the ALTTP box



Is just 4 desing. dont bother, dont care.

The original TMC logo featured the gold-and-red Master Sword design.

But i found somenthing strange, the sword that the picori bring to the hero of men, have the same desing of the MS.


I think that nintendo make a mistake, first they suposse to use the MS and finally they change the idea of the MS to the picori sword.

Well, you do have to ignore a few implied connections for your multiple chronologies to make sense.

I always just assumed that what Lex posted was the original design for the Picori Blade but Nintendo changed it since it was way too similar to the Master Sword.

It's similar, yes. But it also looks like that before Vaati breaks it, so it's not a continuity error or anything.

^ I'm guessing they completely changed the game sometime mid-development and tied it into the Four Sword chronology instead.

So does the Phantom Sword.

The sword has several designs in-game, on-logo, and on-box in aLttP....that's just how it is. It's doesn't make it a separate sword. Especially since [in the Japanese text, not the NoA text] aLttP gives it virtually the same backstory as OoT.

aLttP-Forged long ago to make sure an evil one could never get the Triforce
OoT-Forged long ago as the final key to the Sacred Realm, and thus, the final protective barrier for the Triforce.

Whoa there, partner.It hasn't been 100% confirmed wether the MS is canon or not.

I agree. Anyone but the evildoers can hold the MS.They just can't use it in combat or draw it from the PoT.

Indeed.Personally, I believe it to been a simple redesign as it's overall appearance has been consistat through OoT/WW/TP

Well, as Sinister Gaze pointed out, the hilt does react when some of its power is restored, so maybe it is enchanted.
