Re: The Tree in Lake Hylia Oot

Okay, enough of the KG rumors. HE. DIDN'T. DO. IT.

The only way he would have done it is if:

A> He had a deformed talon
B> He was standing sideways from the tree, and somehow I just can't see it possible to do it, and don't give me the "It's a fantasy game!" thing. Yes, Zelda IS a fantasy game, but even fantasy games follow the rules of physics. In this case, a huge owl cannot stand on the side of a tree.

Yes, he can lift Link up, but what does that have to do with the marks? It just means that he's just strong enough to lift a small child up.

Kaebora Gaebora did not make the marks on the tree. He can perch on them like he does, sure he can carry Link around, but he cannot claw them. His talons are WAY too small.

That doesn't matter. He only picked up young link, who was quite small. Plus he had magic powers helping him out. Anyways, all of your theories are based off of random guesswork and bull**** so I'm expecting some incoherent five to six word sentence saying something like "wrong. kg is big owl. he carry link and make scratch". Have a nice day.

Why are you still arguing with him? He's the "I'm never wrong" kind of person, let him be.

Strangly, at 6:46 PM, I felt a disturbance in the force only caused by stupidity.

No. I think it's not right to let people like that live in their own little lollipop rainbow unicorn fantasy land. It's better to berate them at every turn until they learn the error of their ways. Plus it's more fun.

Hey guys.

Just let the little kid be. Just imagine him as a flame. The more sticks you throw at him, the bigger he'll become and it will just get back to you. Just ignore him and he'll finally leave us in peace to us real theorists.

I can only speculate that Nintendo added the scratch marks for environmental reasons. Perhaps they are trying to tell us a story or that there is much more to Lake Hylia's past than meets the eye.

Re: The Tree in Lake Hylia Oot

Smallvilleboy... I've heard of this guy. No wonder you have a whole club of people that hate you. Wierd.

Anyways, the KG thing is just ridiculous. I believe there was a picture waaay back when this thread was starting to get smart that dipicted the possible claw marks a giant owl could make.

...

Done? Yeah, it makes sense to me. The owl did it.

...

Let's look at these marks from a wider perspective, shall we? Zoom waaay out, an you will see a very old tree on the biggest island in Lake Hylia. Now, this lake has been chosen by the zora people to hold thier most sacred temple: The Water Temple. Built in honor of the virture that water represents, wisdom, and it's partron goddess, Nayru. Nayru has always been associated most strongly with the color blue. And what color is water? Blue! So, glad we got that settled.

Now, do you still see the tree? Good. It's old, 'ent it? Well, wanna see it when it was younger? Let's do that.

Hmm.. it's not dead anymore... still on top of the temple... More zoras are visisting the temple... Other than that, nothing really different.

Let's go back to before the temple was made.

Oh! Look! Zoras! And they seem to be worshiping Nayru on this Island! No temple... but those scratch marks look very fresh.

My theory is this: Long before the temple was built, the Zoras still considered lake Hylia to be sacred. People don't build temples randomly, they build them in places they think are sacred. Evidently, this place has always been special to the zoras, even though they choose not to live here. So, they mark it. They hold their ceremonies at the tree with the three marks. Why three? Because three is important to the zoras. Three is the number of goddesses that created the world, three is the number of ruling races in hyrule (Goron, Zora, Hylian). And lets not forget the three virtues! The Zora's are the race that are under the patron of wisdom. Of course they are going to understand the basis of all hyrule! So, they glorify the number three in their early place of worship, in their sacred stone design, even in the insignia of the zora tribe.

Three. It's everywhere man. These marks point us to the foundations of the world itself...

And as for the Fire Arrows: Zora's are most vulnerable to fire and ice. Wouldn't it make sense for them to hide the power to use magic to throw this stuff around like catnip?

Oh god, I love this guy. You said exactly what I thought. Nintendo were always the type to put unusual and at first seemingly random objects in their games to create a sense of mystery. Not to mention Lake Hylia is probably one of the more mysterious locations in game.

EDIT: Where is this elusive Smallville boy hate club?

I guess it's just a simple line of "I HATE SMALLVILLE BOY" and you copy/paste it in your sig.

^ Why thank you very much

I like the idea of Nintendo just adding in unusual elements in their games to have people scratch their heads in awe, or to just realise how beautiful Zelda games can be. I also think of the fact that Lake Hylia is one of the most mysterious places in Hyrule. Different things flow into the lake and there is more to its history than meets the eye.

Smallville is just here to annoy us. Just leave the person alone and he will eventually give up and die out on his constant annoyance.

Re: The Tree in Lake Hylia Oot

We should write a song:

"Smallville Boy, the destroyer of all that is theorizing."

[on topic]
I like the idea of the Zora's sacred place, so they marked it, but it doesn't seem right. I mean look at it, it's diagonal, it's big, and it looks like an animal's mark. An attacker of a poor Zora perhaps?

Well, at one point, Nayru (or rather Wisdom itself) was associated with the color red. I don't see why water would be associated with Nayru, to be honest.

I don't see why they would randomly make three huge slash marks in it, though. It seems that a tree located at the center of a lake that they would worship would be sacred in and of itself, and so they wouldn't just deface it like that.

Well, the only people that rule over Hyrule are the Hylians, because the king is a Hylian, but most races just seem content to keep control over their sector of Hyrule. So there would actually be five: Kokiri, Hylian, Goron, Zora, and Gerudo.
