How many times does Link die?

How many Links are there and how many times does he die?

well, it really depends on the player. Some people can get through the whole game without dying once, other people die once or twice per dungeon. The number of Link's really depends on the timeline of games that you decide on.

Lots if your mum's playing.

But seriously, it's all a matter of debate. There's about 5 or 6 different Links and they all die of old age or something.

It depends on how many Links there are. You take that number and multiply it by 1 and you got your answer.

None, it is impossible for Link to die within the story. So the answer is 0 times. Because if Link were to die, Ganondorf wins.

Know its called common sense.

When the hero dies in the story, it usually means the bad guys win. Zelda has never featured a game where the bad guys win, therefore it must mean that he has never died during the story.

Well, this should probably be in theorizing, but I'm sure it'll get moved there soon, or closed in favor of another thread...in the meantime:

LoZ and AoL are the same Link
OoT and MM are the same Link
OoS and OoA are the same Link
WW and PH are the same Link
aLttP and LA are heavily implied to be the same Link
FS and FSA are heavily implied to be the same Link
TP Link is not likely to be any of the above Links ^
MC Link is not likely to be any of the above Links^


Now, some can make convincing arguments that, say, aLttP, OoS, OoA, and LA are all the same Link, but we can't be sure. It's not 100% clear how many Links there are.

Most of them are confirmed to be in two...MC and TP Link appear to be the only "loners".

Although the amount of Links there are depend on your timeline, Erimgard summarised pretty well how many Links there are generally accepted to be. Of course, if you think, say, TMC Link is also LoZ Link (Impossible, but an example), that makes one less Link.

Well, he might have seen this Sprite Sheet that someone edited from official sprites and thought they were also official. But they aren't, they were edited by someone else and not taken from the game. Quite convincing, though, I'll admit. So that makes 9 different Links, and well, I certainly hope they all died of natural causes.

As all ready mentioned, people agree that there are 7-9 Links...
As for their deads...we don't really know. Except for maybe one case. If we accept that the Hero's shade from TP is OoT Link, then we can assume that OoT Link died in battle. His lines always suggest that he has passed away before he could pass on his knowledge. In addition to that he lacks an eye, maybe that was a deady woud he received in battle.

Wait, wait, wait. I know I came up with that hypothesis just because I was in an argument against Smallville Boy, but it's actually very possible and far from ridiculous. It wasn't invinvsible either, it was immune to aging, or dying of aging.
