the other day, i was wearing an LoZ shirt. It had the design from the hylian shield from OoT on it. when my friend saw it he told me that he saw a version of the design with the bird thing at the bottom holding an upside down triangle. another friend of mine said "do you think it means something?" and we all came up with the idea that it's the missing piece in the tri-force and that when it's combined with the tri-force it makes the full force.

and we also have a back story to it (based on the tri-force story from OoT). where din made the red earth, nayru gave it law, and farore created life, another goddess/god made the rocks and metals of the world. but he/she became pompous while making mountains and tried to encase the whole world in rock and metal. but the three goddesses were able to over power him/her and sent him/her to a dark underworld. so thats why, when din nayru and farore departed for the heavens and left the triforce behind, their pieces were pointing up, and the fourth goddess'/god's was misssing and pointing downward, to the dark underworld.

so he/she was cursed and turned into a horrible monster and within itself contains the last piece of the full force. so when the world is threatened by him/her (he/she finds a way to get out), link and zelda must unite with gannon to defeat him/her, because only the full power of the tri-force can defeat him/her, like when din nayru and farore did.

There's no way there's a fourth goddess/Triforce piece. It was just a design, nothing more.
Why would the games tell us over and over and over again that there's only three if there was four?
If there was four, they would've said so by now, or at least given a reasonable hint, other than a tiny, insignificant symbol on one shield in one game.

I always thinked that the triforce in the bird clawns is the triforce of wisdom, the piece of the triforce that was destined to be protected by the hyrule royal family(Zelda).

There is an easy way to disprove any tetraforce theory. If three pieces grants you all your wishes, what would a fourth piece add?

"Tetraforce! Same good as the Triforce, but now with a touch of lime!"

At one point in Majora's Mask, you see a clip of Zelda, who mentions the Goddess of Time. Related, perhaps? Probably not, but interesting nontheless.

The Triforce is basically a Japanese symbol but given another name. In other words, there is no fourth piece.

Before you bring up the OOT shield, keep in mind that a concept art of an ALTTP shield had five triangles on it.

Many would argue that it's Nayru, but others would say Farore.
Either way, there's no hint that she's a separate goddess previously unmentioned.

Oh, and bitterlime: I suggest that, the second the trailer for Zelda Wii comes out, we should go write a detailed analysis of that trailer, with lots of speculation. Just for fun, and for the fresh breeze in Theorizing

The 4th Triforce piece is neither proven not disproven, but right now, to say it exists is purely speculation.

Also, smallvilleboy... it's callled the Triforce because it has 3 sides, not because there are 3 of them.

Well I would prefere not to be associated with the Tetraforce in anyway. I would however like to advertise the Pentaforce.;-)

As much as I am getting sick of the Tetraforce, you can't say that it's called the Triforce because it has three pieces. The Triforce of Courage wasn't in the first game. So it had to be named after the shape, otherwise it would be the Diforce or Biforce or whatever.

I know that when the hylian shield was created the triforce still remain into the sacred realm, but i think that is a destiny thing,a vision/premunition thing.
and the average blacksmith dont choice the design of the shield he only follow royal orders.

Nayru, she gave laws to the Red Earth to be followed.
Farore, she created the beings to follow the laws by Nayru.

Farore, she is the Goddess of Courage ad she creted life. She resembles the colorof nature, green, meaning that minerals are a part of nature and sh could've created minerals.

Again, I'm not supporting the Tetraforce theory, but I hate this claim. Triforce couldn't have been named because of three pieces, when only two existed in the first game (the Triforce of Power and the Triforce of Wisdom).

we have only 2 triforce pieces in TLOZ because the triforce of couarge was hidded in the great palace. The triforce originally are 3 triangles.

But that wasn't the case until AoL came out. Nintendo probably only came up with that as an excuse for why it wasn't in LoZ. However, they just didn't have it as part of the story yet.
