What protected Link from the Lost Woods Curse?

I'm just curious, in OOT Children who get lost in the Lost Woods become Skull Kids, how comes Link (as a child) never became a Skull Kid? The Kokori's are immune, but Link isn't a Kokori, and everytime you go through the wrong part and end up back at the start thats getting lost isn't it?

Obviously I know the answer would be "well the hero can't become a skull kid, hes gotta save Hyrule!"

Besides the obvious answer, any ideas?

My guess would be that the guardian fairies of the Kokiri have protective forces, they are supposed to protect the Kokiris afterall. And since Link has Navi, he is protected from the curse too.

That makes alot of sense, but I'm just curious Link is what 10? 11? in OOT. Chances are he'd of been in the Lost Woods before Navi came to him.

^Yes thats true, he could have been there before the game started, which would ofcourse ruin my idea. But luckly we will never, know if he has been there before.;p

The only other thing I could imagen is that he has some special blessing from the Dekutree, that he received after his mother gave him to the Dekutree.

That could be, the only other thing I could think that maybe everytime he went into the Lost Woods he was with Saria, she knows the woods really well so I'd assume she'd never get lost in there.

Its quite simple....Link never got lost in the Lost Woods

Well the game does say Link's mother left him with the Deku Tree for protection, so I would guess that either:

Maybe casue he had a triforce peice. Then he lost it when he entered termina, and when he went to find navi after he saved termina he got turned into the stalfos

He didn't have a Triforce piece. He didn't get the Triforce piece till the middle part of OoT where he got frozen for 7 years

there are different theories. the one I believe is this:

At the end of OoT, there are two endings. The adult ending where everyone is celebrating. Hundreds of years later Wind Waker happens on this adult side. In Wind Waker, they say that the hero of time was separated from the Triforce of Courage after his quest. So, that means, when he went back in time to be a kid again, the ToC had to stay in the adult timeline. That's why it's missing in WW.

But, if you watch the child ending of OoT...he still has the Triforce mark on his hand. Thus, he still has the Triforce of Courage. Which means, since he was the chosen hero, he probably got to keep his piece when he went back. He lost it in the adult timeline, and automatically got it back in the kid timeline

well yea i understand the split timeline, but thanks for makin it easier because i still found some peices missing

well, maybe that's just a legend, a myth. Honestly, I have never seen any proof that any kid had been tranformed into a skull kid after getting lost in the woods. Some sources say they become deku scrubs, others say they become skull kids and yet others tell you that they would become stalfos.

My opinion: those are just myths parents tell their children in order for them not to enter the woods. None of them is real...

yea he does

Then, I'd say the curse is real.
I always thought that kids got turned into skull kids and teens/adults got turned into Stalfos. makes sense to me.
Where does it say anything about Deku Scrubs?

There is no proof that he did. The Kokiri girl just says he did but you don't actually see any stalfos. I think she just said that to scare you because she thinks your an outsider.

If she thought you were an outsider, why would she help you on your quest by giving you the saw that he owned?

Do you think that the Skull Kids are just another creature then? And that the curse is completely made up to keep the kids out of the woods?
